Hey guys, I have stayed off the forums for a while. The last 5 out of 6 weeks ive been doing my offshore paramedic thing and have 10 days left. I ordered several boxes of nautilus coils ( the original BDC ) I have had the worst possible vape ever and have been miserable out here. Dry hit after dry hit after dry hit using Deadly sin from good life vapor. Set it to the smallest air hole, primed the wicks, puffs without firing the button... the coils that came with my nautilus and the first batch were a 9 out of 10 vape for me. Every coil since then has sucked. The nautilus started out as my one stop vaping solution... turned out to be a huge dissapointment... I even gave away a tank, but still have 2 left.

I have a kayfun and a nimbus clone. Ive coiled them at 1-1.2 ohms so I can use them on my MVP... building coils is just not for me.

I have the Nautilus mini, 5 of each ohm coil, an aero mini with 10 coils, a used provari with 18650 extention ( 100$ on ebay ) an Itaste VTR ( 35$ on ebay, the ring has been cut off to fit kayfuns and nautilus tanks ), 100mls of deadly sin, and about a half a gallon of assorted juice from steam ( jerry juice anyone ) all waiting for me when I get home....

All I want is a plug and play reliable, amazing vape... 7 days on a coil is fine with me...

I watched Grimm, Todd, Busardo, Indoor vapes... tons of great reviews... a few said the new kanger aero mega/mini edged out the nautilus mini BVC by a hair... so I have that coming as a backup. I really just want to get back to the vaping zen I had with my nautilus and the first few coils... from the reviews I am going to get exactly that... I cant wait!

Help me obi wan vertical coil... youre my only hope!

There are lot's of us counting on this coil being the magic bullet!

I was at my vape store today and they let me try the Mini, which they just got today. I must say, it was simply AMAZING! The vapor tasted great and was voluminous. They still don't have any BVC coils, but I have some coming on Monday, so I'll be able to see first hand how they work on my Big Boy Aspire.

Thanks for the update. With that old coil any chance you can take out the filler and see if it burns with a lighter? I've used readyxwick that is ceramic and it doesnt burn even with a torch. It goes black at first but then turn white as can be like nothing ever happened. Curious if these are the same. If so wouldn't that mean you could dry burn these coils and filler to reuse? Well, the more I think about it pullin them out and putting them back in might not be possible or worth the effort. Sucks to hear about the dud. Hope a theme isnt following here. Waiting for mine to arrive from aspire else I'd be doing it.

Yeah Torren, Ill try and take it apart and let everyone know what I find.

The pic above is the atty guts pulled out of the head.. I could not get the pressed fitting apart so had to take it out from the bottom pin area. I don't think this is ceramic wicking.. It burns very easy. The blackness you see on the wicking is due to me burning it with a zippo lighter. It was somewhat flame resistant but started to burn steady after a minute under the flame.. I don't really know what it is. Its not cotton, It is formed like a little pad of wick of some type material.. It wasn't burnt before I flamed it. so dry hits were coming from what? I don't know.. Seems from what I can see that this pad seems to be placed around the inlet holes of the head inside and the coil runs down the middle. Don't know if the coil touches the pad or not. Would have to be very close to the coil if not touching the coil for it to produce vapor. I saw dimetris video where he got it apart and seemed to me like the coil was kind of wrapped with this pad. It might be ceramic. I have never tried to burn the stuff with a lighter. Maybe it burns under flame. I don't know.. Hope someone with more knowledge will chime in to what it might be.. Rebuilding this? Don't think So :)

Sorry for the crappy pic..

I've run about 6ml through mine so far and it's still performing like new. Looks like if there is a problem it's a quality control problem rather than an inherent engineering problem. I don't know how sensitive or attentive Aspire is to complaints. Fixing a quality control issue could be an easy fix, but who knows if and when they might address it.

Out of curiosity, I ran a pipe cleaner through the coil to see if it would fit. It did. Might aid in cleaning. We'll see when the time comes.

Anyway, for now, I'm adding my vote to the thumbs up side of the ledger.:thumb:

I got to the point that when I cracked a new 30ml bottle I change out the replaceable coils before I'm driven to replace one. Stretching them out even when they seem ok doesn't pay..I've found the difference in quality of vape is very very noticeable. Now I'm as thrifty as one gets but the difference in enjoyment and the very low cost of a replacement head made that an easy choice. When an atty cost $10-12 bucks life span was a big issue, that as a primary issue was put to bed a little while back. It's nice to be into a crisp good tasting vape being the main concern...

I have used 30ml 50/50 vg/pg through 1 coil on the mini so far and neither flavor or vapor production seems to have dropped off yet. I have been using it from 10-15 watts depending on what sort of throat hit I feel like at the time. I found it was able to handle up to around 17 watts without any burnt taste. I've chain vaped it at times and still no dry hits. Time will tell if the coils are consistently like this but the one I am using now is amazing.

I just got my 1.8 BVC coils and popped one in my Provari. O M G. The difference is simply astounding! I started at 3.8 volts, which was as far as I could go with BDC's before immediately getting that burnt taste. Then I moved up to 4v, then 4.2v. I'm not sure I need to push it past 4.2 as the taste is FANTASTIC. Really Fantastic. I'm actually tasting my juice like I've never tasted it before. And the volume of vapor is amazing. I'm cautiously optimistic that Aspire got these coils right!

Glad you're liking them. Seems like after some hours of first use I can go up to 5.8v with mine with no problems.. Makes the vape warm but not burnt... I start lower volts but seem to have to raise the voltage or wattage as they break in more.

I've got my nautilus set up on an itaste MVP for when I'm going out, but when I'm at home RBAs are just perfect. I believe that the nautilus is the best working tank I've owned. I've been wanting to try aspire's new coils, but I just haven't actually bought any yet.

They work great only issue I find is that the MVP only goes up to 11 watts and if your looking for a warmer vape, the MVP won't cut it. But still get great flavor and vapor

It's nice to know you can push higher without negative effects. We'll see if I stay at 4.2, but at the moment 4.2 is working just fine for my needs. Very impressed thus far!

Do these have a ceramic insert press fitted in place which does the wicking?
dont think so.. some kind of wicking padlike material but dont think it is ceramic at all.. I say that because you cant dry burn these. The pad burns.

Whatever the material is, it can be pushed a lot hotter than the wicking in the BDC coils, that's for sure. I had read somewhere though that the material is a ceramic something. I'm not positive that ceramic can't burn at all?

Yeah I read it is a ceramic post with a coil wrapped around it. If it is true ceramic it will never burn at the temps we can achieve, that said, ceramic is very porous and in time it will lose the ability to retain liquid once the pores are closed up by "gunk". Also if true ceramic, dry burning should not be a problem at all.

But all this hype reminds me of the same hype about the original Nautilus only to find that it was not all that wonderful as said to be. Don't get me wrong, it may be great, but how about using one for a couple months before raving. It may "rock" now but give it time, there is bound to be a drawback as all others have had....just sayin:D

If and when there is an issue, I along with other's, I'm sure will chime in. The Aspire as it was with the BDC coils was an epic fail, right out of the box. So forgive us if for the first time, we're really excited to be using our Nautilus systems with such great flavor and volumes of vapor. :toast:
