Nearing disaster in New York - please take action NOW to prevent e-cigarette ban.

Anyone not in New York who is wanting to help, letters and faxes and calls can still be made. You can refer to relatives in NY, or doing business with NY, or whatever you can come up with to show your nexus with and concern for NY citizens with regard to this bill.

This is exactly what I was looking for...some way that those of us not in NY can still be of help, since this hideous bill affects us all if passed. I have friends and family in NY and many of them smoke cigarettes, some of them vape, and as the truth about ecigs comes out, more of them are switching to ecigs. I have even helped a cousin (in NY) pick her first ecig and she loves it. She put cigarettes down after she received her ecig and hasn't touched one since, and I'm happy for her. That was about 3 months ago.

I really don't understand the closed door approach and it seems against any legal process to attempt to pass a bill into law in this manner.

Thanks yvilla for this awesome suggestion and I know I am going to act on this immediately! From the posts I've read since last visiting this thread, I have seen at least some positive news starting to appear, and that has taken a lot of my frustration of feeling helpless away. This advice is the icing on the cake to feel that I can help NY at least in some way!

I dont have to worry about this, cause I left NY along time ago.

But seriously, I dont think we can stop the Mafia that controls NY.

And this doesnt mean other states will follow.

But Im willing to sign petitions and write to my senator. I do it for supplements and sometimes it works.

But what I really rather do it lock and load.

Well, there isn't one.

There is a Senate Health Committee meeting scheduled for this Tuesday (5/25), but again S7234 is not on the agenda.

I did followup emails a week after our visit with the four people we met with in Albany the longest, three of whom we had the best and most positive meetings with, and one being Klein's key person on this bill, and asked each to please let me know if there was any news at all. Of course, I'm not relying on that panning out, but one can hope.

We've also followed up with phone calls since the trip.

There is simply no news or movement I can report. I still urge people to keep up with the phone calls and letters, and New Yorkers especially to actually meet with their own Senator.

The one thing I worry about the most is the small chance that at the very end of the term in June Assemblywomen Rosenthal could shoehorn her Assembly-passed version of the bill onto the full Senate floor (A9529), thereby bypassing the Senate Health Committee, made up of the Senators who we have concentrated on up to now, and who we at least have educated on the issue and delivered tons of material to. It may not be likely to happen that way, and we were told that, but even the possibility that it could makes my blood run cold.

Yvilla, I wouldn't bet against them doing that. For all of the years I was growing up, there were people that wanted the lottery brought into NC. It always failed because the majority didn't want it. So they finally just waited until the folks that were voting against it went home for break and voted it in while they were gone. If they want something forced through bad enough they will try to get it done.

So the bill is just passed referencing the sale of e-cigs. How about people who own them in NYC. Will I be allowed to publicly vape and not have to worry about being arrested...?

I think it's important for everyone to know all the details of what's going on. It's great that you seem interested, and you being in NY have a lot of say in it.

New York vapers should really go and get registered to vote, take friends, relatives, etc, if you or those you know are not yet registered.

What went on... is that the people that New Yorkers elected to the 'NY House'... voted and UNANIMOULSY passed the first version of 'The Bill' to totally ban ECIGS (to adults AND minors), or ANY part of an ecig (any part thereof). (Right? someone please correct me as needed)

The 'Bill' still has to go to other departments and through certain procedures, and that is why there is a VERY URGENT call for New York vapers to get involved. Please learn all that you can, ask questions, write the elected officials who represent you in your New York region (district), and get whatever assistance and advice you desire and need from many people here at the ECF forum. Don't delay, time is running out for New York.
