Also, I couldn't tell in the pics.. but, do you have one of the legs tucked inside of the grommet (between the grommet and positive post and the other between the grommet and the outer post (negative)?

I guess it depends on how you look at it and if you are going off of 3 hours of sleep, lol. The lower the number, the thicker the wire is, yes. I am thinking (or rather 'was' thinking) in the lower, as in thinner, rather than the actual 'lower' number being thicker. Forgive me, kind sir!

Yeah, I thread both wires through the body of the nova head, then slip the grommet over one wire, pinching the other wire between the grommet and the outer post, then slip the center post in the grommet, trapping the wire between the center post and the grommet.....

You are correct, sir! Well, in theory anyways.. I really don't notice much of a difference between them, but I know it's there. The thicker wire is definitely more forgiving

Then the only thing I can think of, is it's shorting out somewhere (Duh, Pitt!). My guess would be somewhere along the negative "half" of the coil, if it's jumping that high.. But, I have been known to be wrong..

Yup, just wrap it around the legs.. I use .999 silver wire. Should be able to get some at Radio Shack or Hobby Town.

I used it at first, when doing the nova heads because I was worried about the burning. Don't think I ran into that problem after I stopped using it. I was (am) also using it for the Vivi RA, so I don't have a long positive leg at the top.
