Man, I leave for a meeting for a couple hours and it takes me 20 minutes to catch up!

I like mine tighter than a 12 year old ... ehhhh, nevermind! Yes, Jake.. I roll my SS tight, but there should still be the tiniest of holes through there, to aid with a straw effect.

I've heard of both, just getting thoughts on which to try first....I really plan on trying to mess with it tomorrow! Do you use a paperclip or anything to roll you mesh? When I rolled mine for my nova I didn't use anything, just rolled it as tight as I could.
Do you use the drill bit method to make your coil or just make it right on the wick?

I personally don't use anything to roll my wick. Usually just as tight as I can. As far as the coils go.. I usually wrap them right on the coil. I will get it grounded, and wrap it around the wick (however many times) and then secure it on the positive post. I will then adjust the position of the coils and tighten if need be. Trim, test, fill, let soak a bit, test again and give it a go.

That was kinda my plan. Roll a wick just a hair smaller the the wick hole and then wrap my coil right on the wick.

Did I ever tell you what I think the problem with the coil on the nova heads was at first? I think the biggest part of the problem was that I was wrapping the coil too tight. When I finally redid it the other day I wrapped it just a hair looser. The first few times I was pulling on the wire as hard as I could without breaking it.
It's doing alright, still can't usually get it above 7 watts without burning, but overall pretty good flavor at about 6 or 6.5 watts

Few more quick questions for ya. How do you oxidize your mesh? Do you oxidize it before you roll it, then roll it and oxidize again, or do you roll it then oxidize it? Do you wash your mesh first? Do you do a couple juice burns before you wrap your coil?

Yeah..if that coil gets too tight around the wick, it cuts off the flow to the center (which needs to be the most saturated).. Also, it can have problems with shorting as well as heating too much of the SS wick.

I don't really have a specific method with oxidization. But I usually dip it in VG, torch the crap out of it, roll it, dip the tip in VG and another quick torch. Sometimes I omit the last step and just dip in VG. I then will torch the coil some and then wrap 'er up!

No worries about the questions..I had plenty as I started with the RAs and I will probably have more as I journey forward!
