I am keen to start vaping, 2 weeks back was my first time trying and I got a throat infection and got better in a week. For 2 weeks I have not vaped but have been getting some phlegm build up in my throat and it is quite annoying. I vaped again 2 days ago and didn't get any harsh effects just that my nose was rather dry and that's about it. I feel like I might be PG sensitive? I am currently unsure if the throat infection was due to vaping just because it was shared among 5 other friends and on the day I got ill was the day I drank some cold mango juice. The phlegm is still kinda bothering me though. Is the phelgm normal for a new vaper?

The phlegm is caused by stopping smoking. It will pass in a short time. As for the dry nose make sure to drink more water vaping will create the need to keep yourself hydrated. I suspect the problem was caused by someone in your group of friends with a virus that was contagious. It is possible to be PG sensitive but it is very rare.

What if I'm not an ex smoker though?

Here is a search that might help...

https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/search/2140324/?q=Symptoms&o=relevance

Quitting smoking can be very "influencing". Increased anxiety being one and that can cause others. I have read about all kinds of issues but rarely was it due to vaping. Some have less of a tolerance for PG so they use a higher percentage of VG. Vaping does tend to dehydrate so increased fluid intake is very popular.

One thing that I think is also helpful is ti stick to reputable juice vendors. I was in one shop where the owner mixed juices at a little table in the corner. Not clean, not orderly...

Hope helps

Taking your sickness out of the equation, I was a very heavy smoker right up until i started vaping. It aggravated my throat and lunges in a different way to tobacco, and yes i was coughing up all sorts of stuff for days. I was using a 50/50 blend with a high nic (24mg) content. But over the weeks i gradually became accustomed to vaping and the cough subsided but it still tasted harsh. I bumped up the VG ratio to smooth it out and after a month i lowered my nic down to 18mg.. Still i had a phlegm problem which persisted for a few months but it wasn't deep seated like a smokers cough. 2 years later I'M fine and I enjoy vaping and I feel healthy. I clear my throat more than cough, probably cause of over vaping. Talk to the other members here here about your problem, they should be better qualified to help you out. Hope i could be of help.

from my experience mucus is normal. been vaping about a month now haven't smoked a cig in a few days but I do get a lot of mucus coming out especially my throat. as for sharing I wouldn't share your vaporizer unless they have their own drip tips. you should also drink lots of fluids like water to hydrate you. when I started vaping I find myself with a glass or water or juice right next to me all the time. it helps soothes my throat after chain vaping and when I switched to an RDA this weekend I found myself drinking more then I would If just using a tank

So does that mean that you are still smoking or not a smoker at all, you just wanted to vape. If you never smoked then it is probably a virus passed among your friends or a sensitivity to pg. If you are a smoker could just be a combination of everything. If you are not a smoker, I don't understand you wanting to vape as even though it hasn't been proven harmful and is essentially safer than smoking, why do you want to subject your body to it. Not criticizing, just wondering.

No i never smoked at all. Well i kinda like the flavors you can get and it is more of a leisurely thing to do. Hence, if i would start i would go for 0 nic.

Regardless of the nicotine, you are still not taking into effect the potential hazards of inhaling ingredients that haven't been proven safe, they are safer than cigarettes but not necessarily safe and may still be harmful to your health. If you don't smoke, it would be healthier for you to not vape. Just saying, if you like the flavors and don't have a habit to break, really doesn't make sense for you to vape and the flavors can be gotten another way that is safer than vaping for a non smoker, candy, drinks etc...
That said, I was a smoker, who didn't want to quit smoking until I found vaping, Now I am a vaper with no plans of quitting vaping. Essentially you would equate to a non smoker who takes up smoking only you are vaping instead, so if you are going to do it anyway it is better than if you start smoking, but not healthier than not doing it at all.
