I will tell you that I have an issue that is caused by yeast and I have long wondered how the VG is affecting it.

OP, please look around here a bit and try to get enough posts here in new members so that you are able to start a new thread here.
Health, Safety and E-Smoking

Don't give up on the ecigs just yet. There may be something that will work just fine for you :)

I guess I made a mistake posting my issue here. I didn't think I would end up with a bunch of negative responses. I'm not trying to bash vaping. In fact, quiet the opposite. I think it's fantastic to find a healthy alternative to smoking. I was not taking antibiotics of any kind. I have never experienced this condition before. Believe whatever you like. I was looking for advice, not criticism. I don't need a medical professional to tell me that this is caused by the e liquid in my case. I know it is. That doesn't mean that I won't try again with perhaps a different liquid when it has cleared up. I'm really disappointed that this has happened. Trying to find a solution, not be bashed. Try searching fungal infection an ecigarette online. Lots of others have this issue. Try helping come up with a solution and not making a new member feel like an outcast. I got enough of that when I was smoking cigarettes... :(

I did as you suggested....

And learned in the first link I clicked that you are mistaken:

I was diagnosed with a yeast infection (sore throat) last Friday. I thought it was a VG allergy - nada. My doc tested me for strep and yeast - it was yeast positive. She applauded me for vaping and is totally supporting....BUT. We put out heads together and think we figured it out.....I was using cartos too long with really sweet butter pecan I absolutely LOVE. Yeast loves sugar - well, duh. It's a VG juice anyway. PG is notorious for killing germs - but VG certainly doesn't. So, she gave me a prescription mouth wash and all is well - it was cleared up in 24 hours. No allergies to PG - I vape both.

So Trush may be possible when vaping... but it's not caused by vaping... it's caused by using the wrong juice with cartos for way too long.

see you linked to it too....

did you even read it? Or the others you linked to?

None indicate a causal relationship.

This I know for 100% certain, if you are able to get some Braggs Organic Apple Cider Vinegar with the mother in it, and drink a tablespoon 2-3 times a day in a glass of water, any issues caused by yeast will be resolved.

I told a member in the thread on blood sugar about this stabilizing the blood sugar. She did not believe it but, came back months later to thank me.

I think that some folks may be more prone to yeast type infections than others.

Give the OP a break here. had she not been vaping, she would have no need to worry about cartos or the wrong juice. I really dislike to see folks that come here looking for help get bombarded by members defending ecigs. Yes, there could be issues with vaping for some people. Very little is really known about the big picture as of yet.

The first link is the one I was just talking about. Dirty cartos full of a sweet liquid. She got a mouthwash and now uses clean cartos, and all is well.

The second link describes someone who already had a systemic candida (yeast) infection, and thinks the ecig was making it worse. Who knows if it was, but it definitely didn't cause it.

The third link is just one comment with no details.

I really hope you can find out what is happening and get it corrected, but this doesn't make it seem like "lots of others have this issue". I have searched with google, and couldn't find very many examples.

Thanks. I will try the apple cider vinegar. Can't hurt. I have never had any type of yeast infection before. Not fun!!! It's in my throat and my tongue. Makes you feel like you've got a tube down your throat all the time and you want to gag. It's horrible. I'm so sorry for anyone that deals with this...

My husband got it from being on a ventilator for an extended amount of time :( I know that it is no fun at all. I really think that you can work through this and make vaping work for you though.

Do let me know how the ACV works for you.

Thank you so much to the people that are being helpful. Much appreciated.

It is possible that I didn't clean out my equipment properly. I am new to this :)

I really want it to work out for me...

I will sterilize everything, finish my anti- fungal meds and try again.

Fingers crossed.

I use an eRoll

I personally didn't mean to attack... but with so many people attacking eCig usage and trying to find something wrong with it.... I take issue with someone stating outright that it caused a condition that it clearly doesn't.

Hope that makes sense... and again, sorry if I offended.

there is no way you contracted thrush from vaping.your only assuming this cuz you got it just after starting to vape, but look elsewhere prefferably somewhere that makes sense as vaping does not cause thrush. It does cause happiness, better breathing and all around better health, that i can have backed up by a doctor,maybe....lol

One thing that has always amazed me on this journey is the amount of people who give up cigarettes and immediately freak out about the least little symptoms. If they have a shoulder ache/backache it must be caused by vaping because they just started doing it. You must realize you are giving up some 4000 chemicals for maybe 4/5, obviously your body will do some strange things. Not saying that thrush is not a problem but you must look at everything including lifestyle, equipment, juice content, and cleanliness before you make a decision as to cause.

Good advice. Will try sticking to juice that isn't so sweet and sterilize my equipment nightly. I didn't mean that vaping caused this issue for everyone. Just that something to do with the vaping I was doing or the juice I am using or my vaping habits, caused me to get a fungal infection. I'm pro vaping for sure. I want this to work out for me. I have been preaching vaping to all my smoking friends and family. If there is a risk to using sweet liquids too much or not cleaning out enough, it's a good thing that this information is here for newbies like me to see and learn from.

From what I've read and personally experienced from vaping is that propylene glycol actually kills gems.this is the reason why hospitals used it in operating rooms and such.... Me? I haven't even gotten a cold this year.... I started to, but it lasted two days and faded away....

Hi,, I'm editing this because I didn't want to seem that because I've not gotten sick, that it's not possible to. I truly hope you feel better and that you can clear this up and welcome to ecf!

I am sorry that you received some negativity on this issue. I have found the ECF community to be a wonderful place for help, support and and all around great place to hang out online. I don't think there is anything wrong with what you said. I think you we're just posting your symptoms and what the doc said and simply phrased that your condition is a result of vaping. If you contracted thrush as a result than there is nothing any one can do to change that. The issue is over semantics between assumption and the definitive. People in the vape community are feeling a lot of tension because of the FDA scare. vaping has improved our lives immensely and we obviously don't want misconstrued or inaccurate info to be the reason we are banned from doing it.

I still think there may be other causes and just wanted to reassure you that you may not have to give it up. ECF is a wonderful community. I think people just become a little passionate and defensive when a topic comes up like this particularly without documentation that links vaping directly. But the fact remains that to date there really isn't enough conclusive data to support that vaping is safe without long term negative effects or that it is not. So if vaping does cause thrush then we have to accept that fact when and if it does become fact. With that being said, I still don't think that is the case here. There are several things you can do to find out if vaping is something you can continue to do.
Nicotine dependence is really a nasty animal and vaping is something we do try and keep that animal at bay. There may or may not come a time where we just have to accept that we may just have to find the will power to be nicotine free. Either way, I commend your efforts in quitting analogs and find your way to a healthier you. Welcome to the ECF community. I hope you stick around long enough to experience what a great community it is and the benefits ECF has to offer.

I thinkthat making sure you keep your gear clean is an important step to make sure you don't get an infection of any sort. Wash those mouthpieces:)

Clean your tanks every so often.

I didn't give it much thought about cleaning my gear until someone posted they were getting sick from vaping. There's a lot of germs in your mouth and they are getting all over the mouthpiece. Yuck. That is my thought.

After a week of vaping, I got a really sore throat and felt as though I hada lump in my throat. Got so bad I went to the dr. Turns out that I have a really bad case of thrush ( a fungal infection) in my mouth and throat. I have never had this before and I am healthy. It's definitely from vaping... I'm so disappointed. I was really excited to be smoke free. Now I don't know what to do. I have a prescription to clear up the infection but am not sure if it will keep coming back if I continue to vape :( anyone else experience the same. From what I can find online, this happens often from vaping... Advice?
That is not possible! Propylene glycol would prevent Thrush, not cause Thrush! B.T.W. I am a Fl. C.N.A. and often work with a Respiratory Therapist. Also, have You ever wondered why some processed foods Like McDonald's resist molds? PG is used as a preservative.
