need a new vapor rig...should i get the box?

i started vaping a couple years ago with a cheezy auto batter and overpriced cartos. then i got an ego-style 650mah batter and blank cartos. i got sick of how wasteful cartos seem and also how briefly they last, so i got the ego-t tank atty, which i thought was great for a month or so.

i should say that i vape all different ratios of liquid that i buy from momandpopvaporshop.com and i only vape 5mg juice.

my first tank atty was great for a while until it got clogged with seemingly no way for me to clean it. so i bought a new atty, but i can only get 4 or 5 decent pulls before i get a burnt taste. i tried poking the wick down a little to no avail, then i tried boiling it, running isopropyl alcohol through it, let it dry, but still i get the same problem.

I understand that you can take these apart to clean them but i really don't think i can or want to do this. i watched a youtube video with a woman doing it, but i don't have the tools for it and it just looks like a crazy pain in the .... I also read on a forum somewhere that if you want long slow draw, the ego tank is not for you. is this true?

what do you experienced vapers use for your rig? all i know about box mods is that they exist. i don't know why people use them or how they work. i just want a consistent good hit without having to refill every 5 min or burning through 3 cartos per day.

i would greatly, greatly, appreciate any recommendations

I think what has happened here is that you found your "happy" place pretty fast which is great! Two years have gone by and so many new things are out there now that don't require tools to take apart and clean. They now have clearo's and vivi's which are tanks that you can rebuild by merely screwing them on and off. They are a lot easier to deal with than the tank system that has served you so well. The McGyvers out there have been very busy, and we all gain by their ingenuity. With these, you fill them up and forget them until you need to refill, they hold various amounts with the least being 1.8 ml! You clean them by running them under some hot water, dry them off (be careful with the wicks) dry burn, fill and vape away! I think you might enjoy this.

And box mods have even become variable voltage now too. I will let someone else come along and help you out with those, as mine hasn't been delivered - yet.

I use a Provari V2 myself. It's got more power than I'll ever need. It's nearly bulletproof. It is a bit pricy, about $200 when you get it fully dressed out. I was using 1.5ohm DC cartos, but have recently started using a phoenix rebuildable atomizer.

i'm now looking at the vivi nova tank, which i think i will buy. they give me an option for resistance on the head...this is something that has always been a mystery to me. is there any chance you could explain to me the advantages/disadvantages of a low/mid/high resistance atomizer?

oh, and will this fit on my ego styled batteries?

Well, I am not the expert around here on that, other people do a wonderful job of explaining that. But, what they will need to know to recommend the resistance is to know what exact batteries you are using. I am going to go out on a limb here, and hopefully someone else will come along and clarify:

Are you using the eGo - T? If so, I think yours is a 3.3. The high resistance is a NO. I am not sure what you have been using with your tank system, but I would guess that is the "mid". If so, and you like the vape, then that is what I would get. My vendor recommended the standard (mid) to me, but others may be able to help you out a bit more.

I would suggest a couple ego twists and a mini vivi nova. With the twist battery you can use any of the heads available for the nova and dial in the voltage to what suits you best

Welcome to ECF. Sounds good. Much of this is a matter of personal need/taste/etc. Glad you found the sweet spot.
I started with a Ego Twist 1000, Ego Tank and clearo. Tanks are a pain. clearo I was using to high a voltage at fist. I used tobacco flavor at first but quickly moved to other flavors.

currently i am using 650mAh eGo 510 manual batteries...do you think it would be worth it to buy some ego twist batteries? and do you find that the 1000mAh batteries make a significant positive difference in your vaping experience over 650mAh batteries?

i'm getting the sense that the 1000 battery will give me bigger clouds of vapor? is this true? i was a hookah smoker before switching to vaping, so i want the most vapor produced possible. big white fluffy clouds

In regards to mah...100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before recharge is needed. Varibale voltage is a step up. I own a Kgo VV but would not reco it as a buy until they resolve the button issue. I just bought some Twists that were on sale- 650= $18 and 1000= $20. Understand BEFORE carto or clearo is on the Twist...650= 3" and 1000= 5". I'll be using the 1000 while at home and the 650's out and about. The eGos fire at 3.4 volts. Twists fire from 3.3 to 4.8 volts. You can adjust the voltage according to the juice. With the eGo the only way to adjust is by changing to diff ohm cartos.

Seems like every time I go in there they have some neat new product that I just can't live without.

From reading the OP, my first reaction was that a new box mod will not fix a problem with the atomizer/cartomizers being used. It would only fix the problem if the battery being used was the problem that you are having. It's always necessary to brake it down the portion of the system being used that is causing the problem. I would point out tho' that it is way to say to say that this or that just doesn't work when the problem is that it doesn't work with what you are using it with. I still remember, when I first started vaping, buying this really fancy atty only to find that it didn't work for beans. I still have, and use, those same atties today. Just at 5.5 volts instead of the 3.4 volts I was using when I started vaping. Most of the time the devices work just fine, they just don't work the way we are using them.

Can you tell me what is meant by dry burn? I've read this a few times now and I don't get it. If it's clean and dry, wouldn't you just refill and let it soak up for a few minutes? Sorry if this is a dumb question....

thanks so much for the advice regarding the Vivi Nova. I got the mini (2ml) tank and also got an ego-c twist 1000mAh batter. this is great. despite it looking a little silly, what with me sucking on what appears to be a steampunk magic wand, it is the best nicotine delivery system i've had.

In my experience with your type of battery, the 1.8 ohm head/atty gives the best throat hit. I think it comes with the 2.4 on it usually, so if you haven't tried that one you may want to.
