I decided on the vtc mini with tron tank and already ordered it yesterday along with two hg2 batteries and a aspire nautilus 5ml tank .

I am way behind on the current vaping technology so all this is kind of overwhelming to me. Now I just got to figure out what mode to put the mini in when it comes in. The vtc kit came with a tron tank but I'm gonna start using the nautilus tank first.

I did a little research and it says you have to put it in the right mode acording to what your coils are made of. How can you tell if a atomizer is nickel or titanium? And what settings do I need to put the mode in for nickel or titanium. What settings (temp, ohm, watts) should I go with on each coil? I just want a decent vape with flavor to start out with.

The coils will usually be marked both on the box and typically in small engravings on the actual coil, both for ohms, type of material, and often the recommended wattages. Nickel and Titanium are for Temp Control (aka Joules) mode only, requiring a mod that handles this, such as the Joyetech evic VTC mini. Kanthal coil wire has been sort of the default for power mode (not TC), and there is more stainless steel now as well.

As your mod will be capable of 60w, upgradable to 75w, you will be starting out with a good number of tank options. I am not familiar with the recently released Tron, perhaps others can chime in. Some good starter sub-tanks include the Kanger sub mini, Silo Beast, Innokin G series, others that I can't recall, and even the Horizon Tech Arctic to some extent. But 75w is enough for many tank/coil combinations..... it could power my Herakles using the 0.6 coil for example.

If you want to stay with Joyetech tank and mod, there is the Delta II tank...... I don't believe this has temp control coils these days, but I prefer to use power mode instead...... just my personal tastes.

How can you leave out the cool fire 4. This is an excellent mod for almost anything you want to do. IMG_20150917_200200.jpg

If correct your coilheads (the replaceable bits that have the actual coils in it) will have a marking. Either ni200 (nickel) or ti (titanium) or something similar. You'll probably get 1or 2 different ones with your tank so you can try.
Just post back here by the time you receive it and there will be plenty to answer your questions as usual ;)
As said, tc is a bit fiddly at first but after 1 or 2 days you'll be fine. You can always get some regular kanthal coilheads to use in power mode if TC doesn't agree with you.
Just remember, first check if the device is set for the right mode based on the coilhead in the tank, only than screw on the tank and the evic will automatically ask you if you put a new coil. Just answer that with new coil indeed and you should be good to go.
