if you want to blow the really big clouds? ... you need to up your wattage.

ProVaris were basically created to help folks replace smoking ... they were never meant to be part of the Cloud Competition.
True. However, for many former smokers (like me), quitting completely didn't happen until the proliferation of sub-Ohm vaping at higher wattage. The lungs full of thick, rich vapor took the place of the throat hit of higher nicotine and higher PG.

Further, the more our lungs, olfactory and esophageal passages cleared of the gunk from decades of smoking, the better able we were absorb the nic and taste the flavor of our vapor.

It was never about winning a cloud comp for me. It has always been about having a vaping session so satisfying that I literally forgot to smoke.

Any device capable of producing 15-ish Watts and firing a 1.0 Ohm atomizer is capable of doing just that.

OH...Yes, they definitely are. So I think you need to put them on the Classifieds here (at a reasonable price of course) so the rest of us can take them off your hands. I'd bet they'd last less than an hour on there before being snatched up by buyers. :D

All kidding aside - You're sitting on what are still highly sought after mods. If you're satisfying your needs with them, don't worry about the clouds (or the lack of really big ones). You'll most likely still be able to vape using your Provaris... long after many other mods will have quit working.
Yep, now that I have been bitten by the Provari bug I have to sit on my hands to keep from going into debt. This is one Vaporizer that will never become outdated as far as I am concerned :D

I own 4 Provari's, one black, two silver, and one mini(never used) They were purchased between between 2011 and 2013. I use clear tanks and Boge 510, standard resistance cartomizers. I have not followed the new developments in the E-Cig world at all. I do notice though that everyone is blowing huge amounts of smoke these days compared to me. When I started vaping it was rare to see anyone else doing the same. My questions are;

Are my Provari's just outdated and useless at this point? I think I paid about $150.00 for each one.
Could I be using a different tank and cartomizer to get more vapor?
Anyone have any advice for me?
Hey MMoon! Your Provaris are definitely NOT useless! I just wanted to suggest a Nautilus mini tank if you haven't already tried one. I mostly use Nautilus minis and eleaf air tanks on mine. Occasionally I get motivated and use a Kayfun Nano. There are some sweet little tanks out there!
But rest assured that the Provaris is still a wonderful vaping mod!
Good to see you here and do hop over to the Provari thread!

One thing you can do to get more vapor is to get lower ohmed carts...if you have the 15 watt, 3.5 amp provari, a 3 ohmed cart is only going to give you 8 watts max, at 5v. Now if you had a 1.3 or 1.6 ohm cart (it's been years and I forgot what the resistance is on a low resistance cart) you could obtain close to the 15 watt max of the device.....or like some have mentioned, get a different type of tank like the nautilus tank or kabuki with the 1.6 coils and get even a bit more vapor . Also increasing to 60 or perhaps 70 vg will increase clouds a bit more. I would only do the 60 or 70 vg on the nautilus coils, not so much on the carts as 50/50 is usually better in carts

I use a small RTA on my Provari, built to 1.6Ω and get some clouds. Not room-filling, certainly, but they're pretty dense. Running around 1.5Ω with pretty open airflow and high VG juice will get you some moderate cloud action.

******THANKS! I would love more recommendations on what to replace old tank and carto setup with or where I could get more info on options
At one time I was one of the most enthusiastic owners of the Provari. Hence, my:

Why Provari?
  • What is the Provari and why is it so popular? Includes some little known facts, and videos & links to ECF threads on why the Provari is loved by owners.
I rarely use my three Provari's anymore, as my vaping preferences have evolved to sub-ohm vaping and a direct-to-lung vape, which the earlier generation of Provari's can not provide. However, I would NEVER discard my Provari's because of their value.

Cartomizers are getting harder and harder to find, so I would suggest that you look for a more modern replacement for your cartotanks. Clearomizer tanks have advanced greatly in the last few years. The Aspire Nautilus (standard and mini) was and continues to be a groundmaking tank in performance. If you don't care for the somewhat odd shape of the Nautilus, a Kabuki clone (the original is quite expensive) from Fast Tech uses the exact same replacement coils as the Nautilus and performs just as well with a more contemporary look. I do have a Kabuki clone for my Provari and can attest to their excellent vape for a mouth-to-lung vaper.
