I been trying to wrap my brain around this Mini Mag aka Solitaire mod that SuperSteph did. The Push-in switch has really got me nervous about even trying it, so I been thinking of doing it with a momentary switch from radioshack. Anyways I bought the Solitaire and gutted it (lense assembly). Ripped oem 901 connector from my other ecig. All I need I think is batteries (Eneloop AAA?) and switch. But I drew a graphic to get a better understanding. Is this picture right? Wire from + battery end to switch, another wire from switch up into the 901 OEM connector hole is what I'm thinking. Been going over SuperStephs thread, the MadVapes laser/flashlight mod thread, etc. I'm sorry to clog this section with another question thread, I'm just stumped.

1. I don't think the battery you plan to use is of high enough voltage. 2. There isn't much room in there for any thing more that a very small switch........,to small to handle the correct voltage. I speak from experience here. I built one of SuperStephs solitare mods. Battery life is bad. They are very problematic. Cisco's version uses a push down atty connection for his and might be better. If you're trying for a reliable mod this is not the mod for you. If you just like to tinker, then by all means knock your self out. You'd be better off with a kr808d bat and cart. I'm not saying don't do it, just don't rely on it. By the way I did find a great home made mod that works very well. However it still quit on occasion, leaving me stranded. It was a performance tool flashlight gutted out. The kind that holds three AAA's. I was using an 18650 which lasted me two days easy. But you can use three energizer recharge with the original holder if you have a spare cap from a second flashlight. This gives you the option of an on/off, which you don't have with the 18650. I used this mod for months. I've now sprung for a V3, which is simply a fantastic device. I would still like an Icon too when I come up with some more dough. :) ya know how it is.

I have a few ofheae half done. Never figured out a good switch. Keep us posted.

Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk

i worked out a mechanical switch in the back that seems to work well. i gave that 1 away so if i can get a camera and can take pics i'll build another 1 and show how i did it

but having the atty way up where the lense was seems kind of shaky to me, i used the cover merely to cover the atty and add extra stabilization.

Yeah Willy, gonna be 5v. I was following Roberts Detonator vids to a T. However I am TERRIBLE at soldering and working with such small electronics. Think I will order one from him to use, and work on making the one with the parts I have already (flashlight, oem connector, leds, transformer, etc.). The Mini Mag will have to wait for now! I was very unprepared in the knowledge department. My pops doesn't think I can do it though so I'mma prove him wrong.

Thanks for the link HighOctane!!

Unless you are dead set on a flashlight mod why don't you build this?

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...6-very-easy-vv-mod-w-switching-regulator.html

You'll end up with great mod, variable voltage and it's very battery friendly. Nothing you can buy will perform better and most of the tedious part sourcing and soldering has already been done.

well i know personally, that these mini flashlight mods make excellent backups when put on u'r keychain...lol just slap a LR atty on it and u'r good to go when a different device runs out of batts.

I recommend ThePuck as a first mod, NicoStick's easy too, but I love my puck mod. It's got great battery life, and it's super easy if you have just a little experience, or ask for some help if you still have questions after reading it's tutorial thread...
My 'first mod' was a flashlight, but it's still a work in progress, as I'm still trying to make my vision a reality (I hope to have it up and running properly by Halloween)...
