I am looking at purchasing pre-wrapped coils to try on Kanger T3's. Can someone help me identify which type of coil I need to get for those tops:

Pre-built coils by Vape coils

Coil Diameter

  • Nano Coil: Coil diameter (ID) is approximately 1mm. Best used with the cotton cloud method of wicking with a bed of cotton beneath the coil. Great flavor and tons of vapor, however these can be tricky to install and wick in a RDA’s with deep drip or juice wells.
  • Micro Coil: Coil diameter (ID) is approximately 1/16th”. True Micro Coils are no larger than 1/16th ID. If you have yet to try a true Micro Coil you’ll be surprised by just how much heat, vapor and flavor even a single coil can produce. These however are not recommended for quad-coils or for dual coil builds in 26650 mods or hard hitting/copper 18650 mods.
  • Mini Coil: Coil diameter (ID) is approximately 5/64th”. Usually what is meant when the term “Micro Coil” is used; these are small ID coils but with room for enough wick to keep up with cloud chaser builds and chain vaping. These are our most popular coil size.
  • Standard Coil: Coil diameter (ID) is approximately 3/32nd”. One step below a Macro Coil; these are especially for extreme builds or extreme mods like the ATB or a 26650 mod. The Standard coil size provides room for a large wick and plenty of juice saturation. When a Mini is just a bit too small and your mod just hits that hard… it might be time to step it up a 3/32nd, Standard Coil.

Wrap your own. Somebody has just figured out a way to take your money because you've convinced yourself you can't do it. It's not rocket surgery.

You say you're not handy enough to wrap your own, yet you're handy enough to attach a coil that someone else has pre-wrapped for you?

HINT: You're handy enough. Practice and experiment with a few and you'll get the hang of it. I'd recommend no lighter then 30ga wire, and preferrably 28ga. Easier to work with.

You only describe varieties being used until this year produced by the simple method of hand winding. Since then I introduced the adaptation of the principle of tension to wind coils that approach 100% efficiency (excluding leads). Little side benefit to to all that…you short a lot less, common to all atomizers. And a whole lotta less fiddly.

Too many assumptions in your above definitions which are just not true. You can chain and blow clouds on 1/16". Totally arbitrary and not scientific.

This is what you need…

And for that you may be waiting a while as they're not massed produced. But you can learn to wind one in seconds and get a whole lot of help building them out quickly with less quirks. For more info see these threads on localization, termination, winding, resistance, etc.…

Hit us up and we'll try and lend a hand. Perhaps news on pre-made if on the horizon. Don't be intimidated by the length of the threads. There are plenty of successful alumni to guide you. So speak up and doubts will be vaporized.

Good luck.

Learning to build your own seems really hard at first, just get all the stuff together, get a youtube video and follow along starting and stopping it as needed. My first coil took me an hour now I do ten/twelve in about 30 min course since I'm old so had to go get a magnifying mirror. Practice makes perfect.

Very good advice klynn. Reader will save a heck of a lot of time, money and heartache. But I would add that one of the most common remarks I hear is, "Why didn't it work? I did it just like the video!"

There's no substitute for understanding the "why". And you can get that right here on ECF (along with the videos).

Just sayin'.

Vaporize the doubt!

Good luck.
