I have a cat, that we love dearly. I have a neighbor who doesn't. They built a bird aviary in their backyard and he claims my cat keeps going over there and climbing the screen. I try to watch for my cat in their yard so I can keep her out of there, but I can't watch her 24/7. Today I heard him telling his wife he was going to kill her the next time he caught her over there. Does anyone know of anything I can buy so they could spray it around the bird aviary to keep her away from there? She is not the kind of cat you can keep inside.

I don't know if that warrants that this guy shoots/kills the cat, shooing it away would be better than shooting it away. No offense to you or anything but is there any way you could make your cat a house cat? Not saying you should because of this guy, but just saying maybe you should consider it if you think this guy is true on his word.

Unrelated story an off duty police officer shot his neighbors dog. The officers dog went to the neighbors house and attacked their dog, and the off duty officer shot the neighbors dog for harming his dog... Charge Filed Against Police Officer Who Killed Neighbor's Dog - News Story - WPTZ Plattsburgh stupid people, whats going through their mind? "Oh no my dog just attacked another dog, oh no my dogs losing let me shoot the other dog so my dogs ok" yeah you're a dumbass.... sorry I hate people that have no logic and don't realize how dumb it is to do something like this.... and the man was a police officer, how well do you think you can trust this guy in making a decision?

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I think I will try the big cheese cat repellant and take it over there. I told his wife I would try to find something to keep my cat away from their birds. The guy is a nut. He likes to drink on the weekend, which is find, I like to have a totty on the weekend too, but he is the type that gets biligerent and obnoxious when he drinks and gets on his soap box and yells and well you probably know the type. Thanks again for all the help. Sherry

If you have an existing fence that the cat is escaping through, this might be an option. Google Image Result for http://www.hssv2.org/Fence/Corner%20with%20bracket%20(sm).jpg

I have one of these for my furbabies. Google Image Result for http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41vcaP9k3aL._SL500_AA280_.jpg

This one is expensive but I built my own for around $300. They come and go through a pet door. It keeps them safe from dogs and other predators, yet they can still enjoy the outdoors. They love it!

How on earth can you say that someone letting a cat go outside is wrong? I just do not understand that one.

You obvisoulsy do not view a cat as a member of the family. I understand there are lots of folks that think a cat or dog belongs outside. I am not one of those people. I would not allow my pet free roam of the outside anymore than I would allow a two year old to roam the neighborhood without strict supervision. I have seen too many animals run over by cars, shot or poisoned by people that claim to love their pets.

I had 3 cats each lived to be over 16 years old and they came and went as they pleased, we had cat doors. All three died of old age.

My cats are MOST DEFINITELY members of my family! They aren't outside all of the time and are not allowed to come and go as they please, but if it's a nice day, I allow them out during the middle of the day (I would add that I live on a quiet road with a lot of greenery around, and even then I don't allow them out during 'rush hour'.)

I think this may be a UK / USA issue: I was appalled the first time I went to USA and discovered that it was normal practice for cats to be 'de-clawed' because so many were kept indoors all of the time.

Here, most people consider it cruel to keep a cat indoors. It is not natural to keep them as caged animals. I understand your analogy, but, turning it around, you wouldn't keep your child locked in the house until he/she turned 18 either (I presume!).

Incidentally, the rescue centres here in the UK will not re-home cats to people unless the cats have access to the outside.

If you have a screened in patio, put chicken wire on the inside screen to prevent the cat from scratching the screen. This will effectively prevent the cat from getting out. Also, you can get an invisible fence for your cat. Petsmart sells them. It will give her a little shock if she goes beyond the boundary. Inside cats live twice as long as outdoor cats, and don't get diseases like HIV, Leukemia or Rabies.

Just because she isn't "used to" living indoors, doesn't mean you can't force her to live indoors. I have had cats all my life, and made several feral cats, indoor cats. U need a litter box, cat litter, and perhaps a kitty condo for her to play on. Do what's best for your cat, it's expensive to take them into the vet. Making your cat an indoor cat is the best way to protect her.

Good Luck
