I need help learning about tanks & knowing which one to get for my prodigy v 3.1. I have been trying to research this on my own, however I am getting so confused. Lol

So my Prodigy is currently @ 6v and the cartos that were recommended for it are too hot & literally burn my mouth. I do not have the patience to drip. I have been trying reg boge cartos but I am not real happy with the flavor I am getting. I should be loving this new toy…and I just am not. I know it is probably me not knowing how to use this, the right way…The flavors I seem to lean towards are darker/heavier, I just read this may be hard on some cartos….So, I am going to take it down to a 3.7V. I want to purchase a tank & I am getting confused with so much different info.

MY QUESTION. I saw a video somewhere that the MAP DCT tanks wont work on Prodigy V3.1 because of the deep well unless I get a 510 to 510 connection. Is that true with any tank? Will I need a 510/510 connection for any tank I purchase?

2. A friend pointed me towards http://www.vaporcaststore.com. They have 2 different types.
  1. The first tank is: VC-DC Tank w/ DC LR XL Cartomizer & Drip Tip (510, 6ml) Sale Price $10.00
  2. 2nd Tank: 3ml & 5ml (combo) EZ TANK: BLACK DELRIN, ROUND CAPS PRICE $23.00
The First one is more in my price range. However, the second one says you can use punched 510 dual coil, LR, XL carto’s, non XL for 3ml set up.

MY QUESTIONS: #1. Opinions, suggestions from those who have used these. Is it worth buying the $23.00 tank since you get the option of trying different carto’s to see what you like best? I have read that so many people say they like boge, others like smoktech, etc…So with this tank, I could try any carto & not be locked in to using only one certain carto (as other tanks say you have to only use one certain carto with it)…am I correct?

QUESTION #2. What does the 3m & 5ml combo mean? How can it be both? Does that depend on the size carto I use?

3. SmokTech DC Tank: @ (Deal of the Day) has Smok Tech Dual Coil Tank on sale today only for $6.99. Is this the same tank as I listed as the first tank above? (VC-DC tank w/LR XL Carto & Drip Tip, 510,) The price of $6.99 is pretty sweet if it will work with my Prodigy.

4. DC NOTTA TANK: (http://stormysvaporcellar.com) PRICE: $12.99. Am I correct that I can use any DC carto (boge, smoktech, etc) with this tank also? As long as they are LR or Reg? They only thing with this one is it looks like I have to put it together myself. I am afraid with no experience with these yet, this may not be my best choice. I like things already together. lol

I know this is a lot of help to ask for in one thread…. so thank you in advance for anyone taking the time to help me!!! *even if u just answer 1or 2 of my questions, I will apreciate it!

When I started w/ tanks I ordered a DCT Map Tank and a Liquidnator from the classifieds. They both worked fine as long as I had the right carto. Cartos in general (and tanks) work best with a higher PG ratio as all VG juices are thick. When I use thick juices I try to punch a larger hole in the carto to ensure that the juice will saturate. You may also cut some of your juice with a little PG to thin it but will lose some flavor.

When I vape at voltages higher than 5 I typically use a 2.5ohm or higher carto.

I'm not able to answer the other questions but am sure others who are more familiar may be able to contribute. Good luck on your search! Hope you find a tank that works for you.

The VC-DC tank and Smoktech tanks are the same thing. And you can use any carto that will fit them. (has to be long)

the 3ml and 5ml combo means that they will give you two end caps, and two tubes. One is 5ml and one in 3. So you can only build one at a time.

Any carto that can fit snug will work in these tanks, resistance does not matter.

To start with, I do not like vaping @ 6v, but then again I don't have any 5ohm cartos either.
So yes you want to take er down to 3.7v so that you can find what power range you do like. (power = watts)
Once you know what power range you like, then you can use a simple Ohm's Law Calculator to figure out which attie/cartos you might like to try at whatever voltage you would like to use. I like 8+/-0.3watts.
Almost every vendor has carto tanks anymore. Because they are such a simple device, they are all pretty much the same. You only have to be aware of the length and diameter of the carto you want to put in it.

Thank you for your help! Can you tell me what you have found works best for you to punch the larger hole in your carto's?

Thanks for taking the time to help me & reply. I will get a connector to be safe & think I will try the smoktech dc. For only 6.99 it is the best price I have seen so far! Prob a good way for a beginner/noob to start. lol
I have a map tank and with out a connector it doesn't work on my raised connectors. I saw make sure you get a 510-510 adapter for safety. ALso I heard good things about the smoktech dc tanks plus it is low cost to see if you like them

Ah, thanks for your reply & the link! I have the Ohm's Calc saved in my fav so I can keep going back to it.
At least I am not the only one who does not like vaping @ 6V. I even got the carto's recommended to go with it & they get extremely hot, so I am hoping I will be much happier taking it down to a 3.7V. Now I just have to find the batt & charger to do that, cause I am not going to pay their rediculous shipping charge unless I have no other choice! ~anyway thanks for your help, appreciate it!

Thanks for taking the time to help me!

The smoketech dc's are great ( no more boges for me ) and you can throw any voltage you want at them. I find 3.7 to be way to cool for me with a dc. 6 volts with them is just right for me. You may find them better at 6 than your current carto and if not you can step down to 3.7 with the same carto.

I punch mine with a hammer and a wood screw and put them in my homemade syringe tank which cost me all of $1.75 to make.its been going strong for months with no leaks or any other problem whatsoever. It's not as pretty as the fancy web bought ones, but it does exactly the same thing.

On a side note...just switched out my carto yesterday....21 days on that carto. At least 100+ mls through it. Flavor had lacked for a few days but the vapor was still amazing. Who knows ....this one might go 4 days and need tossed. Qc is the worst part of vaping with cartos/atties and such, but think It's better than when I started 14 months ago.

    You're welcome.
dremmel- sometimes slots too large and bits of metal have to be trimmed otherwise rips rings- sometimes tear stuffing.
drill + bit- sometimes too deep and tears stuffing, metal bits have to be trimmed
hammer- dents the carto and sometimes too large a hole
screw gun + screw- sometimes too large a hole and sometimes damages stuffing.
saddle valve- perfect EXCEPT sometimes, depending on your ratio/ thickness PG/ VG, you have to pierce 2 holes.
    Good Luck, Vapoor

I have two types and this one is the one I employ, easier to set up and use. Got mine on eBay for $5.98 shipped...
