For wicking. I've been using a small pair of mustache/beard trimming scissors, but they are super dull now. I sharpened them today, but it didn't help much. I need something super sharp that can get in small places.

Hairstylist scissors. My wife has two small pairs made of quality metal and they stay quite sharp for a long time. When they need to be sharpened, don't take them to just anyone. Make sure they know what they're doing.

I bought a pair of Westcott 5" scissors in the craft/sewing section at WalMart, the tips are beveled (not sure if that's the right term) so they get into tight spots. I think they were around $5-$6.
. $11.99 shipped on ebay.

My wife is a stitcher and has accumulated many, many pairs of nice little high quality stitching scissors, these are small, about 3" long and very sharp. I've commandeered a pair for my vape box and they're great.
I've been using an electrician's scissors that were brand new (backup pair). It has slight ridges on each blade so cotton doesn't slip when cutting. I tried a few different scissors but kept coming back to them.

I may or may not have stolen these out of my wife's sewing box. They are awesome wick scissors. They are super sharp.

I know these Look Strange. And it takes a Little to Not Think about what they are Intended for.

But they are Great Scissors for cutting Wicks. It's the Curved Blade that makes it Happen.
BTW - If you Wet the wick Before cutting, it makes cutting the wick Easier for Any Pair of Scissors.

I've heard that thrum scissors like this YKS Metal Grip Handy Shears Spring Design Fishing Line Cross-stitch embroidery scissors Clippers Sewing Trimming Scissors Nippers trimming Embroidery Tailor Craft Thrum Yarn - Nippers And Snips - Amazon.com are supposed to be good for cutting wicks. I ordered some still waiting to get them.
at the umbilical scissors! I bet I would have a helluva time trimming for the Erlkonigin and Rose.
All I have are cheap scissors that I sharpen with a Spyderco Sharpmaker, and I bet they'll outperform all your big dollar scissors. Ever try to pop hair off your forearm with a pair of scissors? That's my standard of sharpness.

The best I've tried are from my fly tying tool box -- Dr. Slick scissors. They are super sharp and very well made. Come in quite a few sizes and I recently saw some great deals on eBay.
