I already ordered the stuff, so hopefully I did it right! Got some xmas gift cards (I was limited to amazon which doesn't have a great vape selection) and ordered this:

IPV mini 30watt
Aspire Atlantis
Kanger Sub Ohm tank
Nitecore I2 Charger
2 Samsung 25R batteries
Organic Cotton / 28g kanthal / Ohm reader / tweezers / pliers etc

I got the Kanger Sub tank because I looked over some reviews and it seemed pretty nice. AND, I have been wanting to tinker with building coils and I guess the tank comes with an RBA base to let me try it out. Plus, I can build 1.5's and use the tank on my MVPs / Isticks (I'm thinking anyway).

I really wanted to wait for a 50 watt mod (actually wanted the DT-50 scorpion, never wanted to deal with the extra batteries / charger) but no one seemed to have them on amazon for a reasonable price. After some research, I noticed some people were having good luck with the ipv mini and the Atlantis.

I was pretty scared to mess with the mechanical stuff after seeing the blown up hands etc. I gather that the ipv mini, or any regulated mod, somewhat protects me as far as battery safety goes?? So am I on the right track? Has anyone tried the kanger subtank with their own coils? Anyone made 1.5 and up coils for it yet?

Hey dash :)

I just picked up the iPV Mini, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. I haven't used much of anything else here in the past week. I don't have an Atlantis or Kanger Sub Ohm, but all the other goodies on your list sound pretty straight-forward. The Mini is my first mod capable of letting me sub-ohm. I did score an Atomic RDA, and managed to build a coil to about 0.8 ohms and it was pretty cool.

No reason not to build to 1.5 ohms for the MVP/iSticks. I usually run about 1.8 on my MVP, and it's a pretty happy place.

Regardless of regulated or unregulated, you do want to remain aware of battery safety (if you haven't ventured through yet, look up user Baditude and read up on some of his blogs - battery safety, Ohm's Law, etc. Regulated mods will protect you "somewhat", but I'd never rely completely on that. Make sure your batteries can tolerate the level of your build (i.e. don't push the amp draw)

Sounds like an awesome Christmas expenditure! Enjoy!

Got most of the stuff in today, but didn't get my samsung batteries yet. It came with a Vamped battery which is ok I guess. I filled the Kanger and the Atlantis, and the Kanger is way better IMO. I get that airflow is a good thing, but the atlantis has a bit much for me, getting hotter than I'd like, too different from my Nautilus. If I drop the wattage on the Atlantis, not getting much vapor. The Kanger is doing great from 20-25 watts. The Kanger is putting out more vapor and better flavor at the moment, but geez it is massive!! It's damn near as big as the ipv mini. Much easier to just do lung hits with both of these tanks. Super happy with the purchase so far though, thanks for all the input. Really looking forward to building some coils!! Gonna check out the apv section now :)
