Hi again. Just wanted to make a change to my post above (more like a discovery actually).

Previously I wrote:
My first impressions are not that good though. It produces a ton of vapor, but there is absolutely no throat hit.

Now that I have had the loongtotem for about a day now and have had a chance to play around with it, I will have to retract my original findings that it doesn't produce any throat hit.

For whatever reason, I just stuck the thing in my mouth just now and didn't inhale real hard. I was just watching the light on the end to see how hard (or soft) I had to draw to get it to light (forgot to mention it has an extremely easy draw). I would suck just enough to get it to light up then ease off till it dimmed a bit; kinda teetering it not allowing it to extinguish if you will. First thing I noticed was how warm the vapor was when I did this. Then, when I finally inhaled... wow! I got a nice throat hit.

So, to make a long story short, it appears the secret to getting a good throat hit off a loongtotem (or maybe it's just mine?) is to take a very light slow draw. The warmer the vapor feels the better the hit you will get. It is very nice indeed. It is hard to get used to though, especially after smoking analogs and just sucking those as hard as you wanted.

At any rate, I would have to say a loongtotem might be a consideration.

Urg. Well, it seemed everyone was out of stock on the Pen Style, so I jumped on the Pilot Hybrids when PureSmoker got them in stock today. I ordered one kit for myself, one for Mom, plus extra atomizers, juice and batteries (completely *forgot* extra carts, dangit, so I'll have to place another order). I've been trying my husband's Pilot and I think it will work for me, a pack-a-day smoker for 30+ years (though I've been "steaming" Eclipse for the past 5ish years or so). If it doesn't work for Mom, I'll have her send it back to me and then work on getting her set up with the Pen Style. Hopefully, it will work for her, and maybe she won't be too intimidated by refilling. I'll just have to cross my fingers on that. By ordering the two kits and extras, it put me over the free shipping threshold, so I guess that's a plus.

Wish us luck, and I'll keep you posted!

Good luck, hope it works out. You must be so worried about your mom. And doing what you can do, good for you.

Just in case or for others reading.... Njoy pen users do not need to buy the Njoy carts, other pen carts are compatible. Njoy at Target and Costco is online only. Supposedly Target is just out of stock right now. Njoy is rumored to be coming to Walgreens stores soon.

I agree Vapor Guys by phone is a good deal.

I finally received all of the supplies I ordered for Mom. The Pilot kit, 2 spare batteries, 4 spare atomizers and 50 18mg 555 carts from PS, plus 2 30ml bottles of 18mg Tobacco juice from TW. With sporadic stock inventories all over, it was a tough package to put together! Oh, and just for fun, I threw in a 10ml bottle of 16mg Coffee juice from PS for her morning fix. (I had hoped to get some of the juice from VaporGuys, to get Mom used to their products, but they were out of everything too.) I also made a short video of the basics of getting started, recharging and refilling, put that on a DVD and shipped her package out today. I didn't occur to me until after I'd shipped that I really should have insured it. It was such a small box, it sure didn't *look* like $250 worth! So I guess I'll just cross my fingers and hope it gets there OK. I shipped Priority Mail, so the odds are good.

As for me, I've been tobacco-free for almost 6 days, and not missing my analogs one bit. On the first day, I had a long errand to run, and was in my car for over an hour - a typical smoking trigger. I began to panic when I noticed a difference in the taste and amount of vapor, indicating that the cartridge was running dry, so I had to set it aside until I could change or refill the cartridge (takes time to learn what to take with you on the go). I still had a half a pack of my analogs in the car, so I decided to light one up. In my previous attempts to quit smoking, that first "cheat" always felt like slipping into an old pair of comfortable shoes. This time, it tasted like an old pair of shoes. I hated the taste and couldn't finish it. (On the first day!) Though I was still cigaretteless for the remainder of the drive, it felt good to know that I was not at all tempted to go back to the analogs. And 6 days in, I haven't gained any weight, either. I gained 60 pounds on my last 6-month quit.

I did find that I missed the ritual of lighting up and spending 5-10 minutes of quality time alone with my cigarette, but I got over that pretty quickly when I looked outside at the deluge coming down. So I just keep my Pilot sitting on my desk all day, and take a hit whenever the urge hits. Funny thing about that is that I work in a church office. :) The pastors are cool with it, and I've even demonstrated my new gadget to several of the church members who've come into the office.

Sure would like to have a USB pass-through for the Pilot!
