Hello guys and gals, was wondering if I could get some help xD. Could someone explain to me exactly the differences and advantages/disadvantages between wrapping a coil on something thicker than something smaller like a 5/64th compared to a 3/32nd? Does a smaller diameter mean better flavor, more vapor or what is it with that ? I'm trying to mess around with coil building finding the perfect setup for me with what I have to work with and I don't have much to work with as right now I only have 26g wire and a subox mini that the lowest it goes is down to .3 .. Any suggestions on something for me to try with the wire I have and the limits I'm at? Also, I'm planning to upgrade my mod.. needed something with two 18650 batteries instead of one for better battery life and hopefully more power. Was looking at the IPV 4s but I'm highly afraid with my mutation x v4 leaking like crazy sometimes that it'll get in the cracks on the top/side of the mod, anyone have this mod and can say it'll be fine if juice leaks on it? If not recommend me a good box mod to look at thats double 18650 and is regulated and within the 100 dollars and less range. Thanks in advanced guys!

hmm..... i'm pretty sure there are many other people who would have better answer but.. smaller diameter coils need to have more wraps to achieve same resistance so it means more surface area the coil is touching the wick. So i'd assume that it will evaporate more e liquid compared to the bigger diameter coil with same resistance. Probably will give a denser, thus more flavorful vape? But I haven't tried using different gauges of screwdriver to make different sized coils, so I don't know how it would be in actual circumstances.

Hey @KevinVapes there are a lot of factors that go into making your coils, inner diameter, wire gauge, spaced/contact coils. Different atomizers have different build decks, some with more space than others. So really it comes down to what you have to use and how you want to use it. Personally I like a bit bigger of a coil like 2.5mm - 3mm. 26g wire is great for the SubTank Mini. I would normally do 6 wraps, contact coil, on my STM with 26g on 2.5mm screwdriver to ballpark .5Ω

A coil is a way arranging a given length of wire with a known resistance into a compact unit.
As already mentioned there are a lot of factors involved, none of which are really worth getting into as this is just over complicating things.

Stick with a 2.5mm internal diameter as baseline and you'll be alright. If you are trying to make a coil with a LOT of wraps maybe expand the coil out to 3mm ID. If you want to make a really compact coil for a small atomizer then maybe go down to a 2mm ID.

Steam engine is your friend for planning coil builds.

A leaky atty will always be a problem, I don't think a water-proof one exists. As to which one, that's a big question. Maybe the iStick 100, dual battery, 100 watts, cheap as chips.
