Need some advice, please.

Hi everyone!

For a few months now, my husband and I have been using the DSE 901's. We purchased a couple of starter kits from E-Smokey Treats, a Joye 510, an assortment of liquids from Vixen Vapors, and hid our yucky gas station models in the junk drawer for an emergency.

So far, so good. I am an ex 14 year smoker, and he is ~20 years or so himself. We haven't cheated once. (Because really, who wants to come home to someone sniffing your hair and clothes? Just kidding.)

Anyway, here's the problem. We just received new batteries & atty's, and within a couple of days the 901's tasted like burning plastic. Or socks. Or burning plastic socks, perhaps. We have cleaned them regularly - a couple times per week with 94% alcohol - and have even dripped a couple of liquid drops straight on the atty to counteract the taste. That didn't work, trust me. The liquids also don't seem to taste like anything anymore, and throat hit has gone down the tubes. I know some of the lighter flavors will have less of one, but "Hilton" wore off within a day.

Long story long, what would you all recommend for those who are looking to "graduate" from the starter kits? We prefer the 901 style and ideally great big clouds of vape with a decent throat hit - like everyone else, I'm sure. :D

My apologies if I've missed where this would have already been answered. A weekend of searching forums and my head is spinning just a bit.

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to ecf.....
Sometimes after your body has had a chance to heal, especially taste buds, you find you'll start to like different ejuices.....however, it is not the batteries but the cartos or attys that determine whether it taste burnt or not.... on the attys, they almost always ship with a primer fluid that tastes horrid. Did you clean them before using?

If you are looking to upgrade, Liberty-flights has a good 901 riva kit.....be sure to click on the 20% off button on top left of their page before placing anything in cart.

good luck and let us know..
:)

edit
here is a link to the riva 901...they also have just 901 batteries ---just scroll down the page...

I second sugar and spice's advice. While 901 cartomizers do exist Smok Tech 901 LR Cartomizer using a 510 connection device may make your life much easier. Just a note, sharing the madvapes link as an example. I have not bought anything from them so have no idea if they are good/bad. Adapters to make your 901 device a 510 device are also available and relatively cheap. Adapters Also an example site, but I believe they do have a good reputation on ECF.

I want to make a mention that sometimes atomizers have a "break in" period. Maybe they just need a bit of time as it sounds that they've been cleaned.

Anyways, congratulations to you and the hubby! Welcome to ECF!

Thanks everyone! We appreciate the friendly advice. :)

We did order a Riva 901 style. Now will likely try the 510. Lots of trial and error, it seems!

You can also just get a 901 to 510 adapter and still use what you have and try any 510 attachments you want to try. They cost about $3 from MadVapes.
