Hi all! I just ordered a dct pyrex tank (clone type from fasttech) So if I like it was wondering what type of cartos to replace the stock one with because I'm not sure on what the purpose is of the options.

1. Low Resistance or Standard resistance
2. 1 hole punched or 2
3. Boge or Smoktech (main ones I've seen) for best and long lasting performance?

The pg/vg ratio of my juices range anywhere from 100% vg to 70pg/30vg with the majority probably being 50/50 if I order from somewhere I can choose.

Main device being an itaste v3

Thank you in advance and bare with me I'm not used to posting in a forum (any forum). Lurked here for about 7 months before finally joining ECF. The information I've gotten just from reading has been so helpful and I have been smoke free since Oct. 1 after smoking for 31 years.

low resistance generally gives warmer vape and more of it
standard resistance a little cooler and less vape not by much these 2 are all preference id get 1-2 of each and try them out to see which you like

1 hole or 2 - depends on the size of the hole and the thickness of the liquid for thicker fluid id use larger or multiple holes thinner less holes
i personally use boge 2.0ohm slotted cartos in mine seems to be an all around carto with a large vertical slot cut in the tube rather than pulling through a hole

boge or smok again preference when i got into the world of vaping carto tanks were huge they were the protank of their time at launch and everyone seemed to rave about boge so i went that route and haven't been disappointed

hope this helps

Welcome to ECF. Using the itaste v3, the resistance of the carto isn't going to be all that important. You can just adjust the voltage to what tastes and/or feels good to you. The main thing is getting a carto that fits the tank you bought. The number of holes will be dependant on the thickness of your liquid. The more vg content it has, the thicker it will be. If you use a 50/50 mix two holes should be perfect. Boge and Smok are both good. I've never been disapointed with either. Hope this helps.

Your tank is an XL tank so when you order new cartos you will want the 45mm length XL. The different carto manufacturers may call their XL length cartos by a different name. For SMOK (Smoktech) it will just be their regular "tank replacement cartos". For Boge, the "XL". For Ikenvape, the "mega" version.

Brands vary mostly in how tightly packed the filler material is within the carto. Boges typically are more compact, Smoktech less dense. Carto brand choice is very subjective. In my experience, Smoktech are easier to fill, but some users find that the looser fill results in easier flooding. I found that Boges are more difficult to fill and can result in more dry hits. Much depends upon individual juices used and how a person vapes. I suggest trying both brands and see which you prefer. Statistically, Boges are more popular.

Smoktech offers both single and dual coil cartomizers. Most people prefer single coils;the other manufacturers don't even bother offering dual coils because they are not popular.

One hole is better for thinner (higher Pg) juices, two holes better for 50/50 ratios, three holes better for 100% Vg or thicker e-liquids. You may need a variety of cartos if your e-liquids vary greatly in their Pg/Vg ratios.

LR (low resistance) cartos were originally designed to produce warmer vapor for single voltage mechanical PV's. Standard (SR) and higher (HR) resistance cartos will allow a wider voltage range to use on VV/VW regulated PV's without risk of burning up the coil. Speaking in general terms, lower ohms produce warmer vapor, higher ohms produce cooler vapor.

Some cartos come with a flange, a sort of collar built into the carto at the bottom end which will prevent the carto from sliding toward the PV if you are using a loose tank. Higher quality tanks will not be loose on a carto and do not require a flange.

Just adding my 2 cents.

When I first started using carto tanks I chose the low resistance cartos thinking more vapor. I did that for a couple of months. Now I have switched to the standard res cartos (2.8-3.0 ohm) and I am finding that they put out just as much vapor but they taste better. And I can run them at a lower wattage, thus making my batteries last longer.

My personal preference on carto holes is, bigger holes or slots work best for my eLiquides which are all around 50/50 blends.

The ONE thing that will make or break your carto tank experience is how well you prime the cartos. There are dozens of YouTube videos on carto priming. WATCH ALL OF THEM. TWICE. Then choose the one that makes sense to you. I believe I have taken a bit from each one and come up with the method that works best for me. I can now prime a carto in about 2 or 3 minutes and it works every time.
One day I might make my own video on how I do it. I call my method the Condom Blow method. Catchy huh?
