I will say this, you can test your builds on a regulated mod, but an ohm's meter is useful for me as a stable base to build and wick on, I'm really glad I got one. I tend to have more trouble if I don't have a stable base for building on an it's nice to be able to test using an ohms meter, if not absolutely necessary.

You've gotten some great advice and tutorials, but I can attest that while it took me a while to start building coils successfully, I have never harmed my mod or atomizer in the process. If I'm doing it wrong, usually what happens is I short out on my ohms reader, and with leaks, I use my beater mod for testing as I don't care if it leaks all over it as much as some of my other mods. By all means do your due diligence, but also at some point jump in. The best way to learn about coil building is to do it, after a time. Oh, you may have some failures, but that's how you learn.

Good luck,

Anna

You mean you don't like juggling a screwdriver, something to hold coil in place, and the deck? I've gotten good enough to join the circus.

Thanks for the help. Really appreciate it. And I have always used drop in kinds.
Get some SS way better than kanthal you can use TC that way as well. Ss tastes better you can tell when you need to drip more easier without burnt or dry hits. Start at like .3ohm your on a regulated mod so worst that will happen is it will say atomizer which means try again. If you have kanthal I recommend some basic 24ga- 28ga 6-10 wraps normal coils get your wicking down the try some twisted or parralel coils and may be even some claptons if your feeling adventurous!! Pretty sure that rdta has a velocity deck wich means lots of build space!!

I like the versatility of SS as well. I can try it out in wattage mode, check everything is working and not leaking prior to starting making TC adjustments, and wattage mode gives me a bit of a sense of how the setup is going to like being run prior to going to TC. It's a nice feature of the wire, especially if you like TC some of the time. I do find SS slightly harder to coil than Kanthal (though my Kanthal that I played around with was slightly smaller in diameter so it could be that) but not enough to make a huge difference.

Good luck,

Anna

I agree 100% with Anna I build on my mod but hah I have a tendency to hit thst fire button and it ain't fun dont forget to lock your mod first!!! Lol... get an ohmeter it is way easier. I see way to many build videos of idiots on YouTube like dual parralel this that then they fire it on a mech and never check the ohms meanwhile I build it st home and it's a .2ohm coil at 30a which they are running on a single 20a wrest battery in an unregulated mod... that's a deathwish.
Stay safe and have fun!!!

I may pick up a new RDTA someday. Limitless left a bad taste in my mouth, literally.

Things are too damn tall, too damn fidgety. Sqonk or die...my new motto.
Haha I need a squonk.. so that is why I got the vgod rdta other than it being 70% off haha. Smallest rdta they claim easy fill system velocity deck lots of space good size post holes and good sized holes on the deck for the wick. Plus it magically pushes your juice up the wick!

I know others would disagree with me, as evidence and sales contradict me, but I HATE the limitless plus and it has all the above good features.

I have 2 mods that would be used, lightly, if I found a tank/rdta I like. As of now they're sitting unused cause I drip only occasionally now.

There are a lot of good sqonks on the market. Actually believe the Pulse to be good, God knows it's selling like gangbusters. I'm not into mechanical mods. Not my bag.

And I've found my perfect device.

Hey kap one more thing
I looked back on your last thread and this one and I see tons of great advice,
I also see that things jumped ahead and there are lots of great build ideas out there but do you understand ohms law? Before any coil building you need to know why they are doing what they are doing and how to make them keep doing that safely and effectively after that the world of coil building is yours.

I know very little about it. All I know is about not exceeding amp ratings.
