Hello again everyone,

Thanks to the help of so many of you, I have been enjoying my eGo for a few weeks now! Now that I am familiar with using it, I have some more questions that you all may be able to help me with...........

I'm finding that after filling my cartridges to the pooling point, I get about 12-14 good drags before I feel the need to fill up my cart again. Is this pretty common? If not, how can I get more from my cart before refilling again?

I ordered an eGo mega atomizer and tips, but every time I have tried to use it, all I taste is that "burnt" atomizer taste and not any of the juices. Also, I get less vapor than I do with the regular 510 atty and carts. Am I doing something wrong?

On average, how long does a cartridge last before it needs replaced? I usually pull the fill out and flip it around each time I refill the cart. And I notice that it gradually shrinks in size ( which I assume is from the atty "burning" it up ). Once it gets to be about 1/2 size I usually replace the cart. Is this normally how you can tell it's time to replace it? How many drops of juice do you all tend to put on the atty when you refill your carts? I have only been putting 1 drop on the atty each time I refill my carts.

I notice that even using the 36mg nicotine juices, I still have a craving for nicotine, which a regular cigarette can satisfy. I started 2 weeks ago cutting down on my analog use, and raising my vaping use. I have now went 3 days without analogs, but even vaping a lot throughout the day, I am still "nic' ing" and craving analogs, even while vaping. I only smoked not even a pack of analogs a day for the last couple of years, so it's not like I was smoking 3 packs a day. Yet I still crave analogs quite a bit. Does this mean that the juices I am using don't have the nicotine they claim to have? Is it safe to buy my own bottles of nic juice and mix a little in with my current juices, to help keep me from craving nicotine so much?

I want to purchase blue foam, so I can reuse my carts, since I feel this would be a lot cheaper than buying new blank carts all the time. Does the blue foam seem to work pretty good? Is it better or worse than the fill in a regular blank cart? Where is the cheapest site to buy it from? Does it come in sizes that can fit the 510 carts or do I have to cut it myself?

And finally, what sites have you all found to be the cheapest for eGo parts and blank carts? I currently am ordering my parts and carts from litecigusa.com and my juices from vaporbomb.com. Have alot of you found that vaporbomb juices are pretty good, and what other juice sites have you found that are equal to, or better than vaporbomb? Where can I find the cheapest site to buy "blue foam" from?

Thank you all again for helping me ditch the blu, and find the eGo. And thank you for taking the time to read and respond to some of my questions. Sorry I have so many on here, I just want to learn as much as I can so that I get the most from my new vaping "lifestyle"!

What juice supplier are you using? Also when I fill my cartos I use a syringe and inject the juice deep inside of the carto, otherwise you may have to let the juice seep all the way down through the carto and top it off. Sometimes thick juices take longer to actually seep through the polyfill and into the carto. As for lifespan, I usually fill my carto up twice a day. But this also depends on how much you are hitting your PV. Obviously the more drags you take, the more often you're going to have to fill it up. I smoke my PV about like I did when I smoked analogs (1 ppd). Hope this helps.

I'll address just your second to last paragraph.

LiteCigUSA is an excellent low-cost supplier and their free shipping is a real plus. I mention some other good suppliers (including of other compatible models, the 900 mAh batteries, and mega attys/carts) in this article.

Here are two databases useful for exploring e-liquids:

  • e-Liquid-Database: ViZi’s outstanding compendium of juice (by continent of the creator). In each case, he provides basic facts about the offerings, e.g., bottle sizes, nicotine strengths offered, number of flavors (tobacco and other), PG and/or VG, cost per ml, and supplier links. Although some brewers are missing, this is the most comprehensive listing I know of.

  • E-Liquid Cost-per-ml: candre23’s list of e-liquid suppliers (with links to their sites), sortable by large-bottle cost, sample-bottle cost, or shipping cost. An invaluable tool for the thrifty juice shopper … and a useful supplement to the above.
I list some of the best US and UK e-liquid mixers (as well as suppliers of China-made e-liquid) here.

Hey, what a lot of questions! :)

You need a cart mod by the sound of it. There are zillions to choose from, everyone likes one type and hates the others... Go to the sub-forum for Cart Mods and check them out.

I ordered an eGo mega atomizer and tips, but every time I have tried to use it, all I taste is that "burnt" atomizer taste and not any of the juices. Also, I get less vapor than I do with the regular 510 atty and carts. Am I doing something wrong?

All new atties need to be processed before use or the vile burnt taste can ruin things. It will also 'infect' the cart used at the time, so the filler will need throwing away and the cart rinsed out with a solvent. Go here to see how to fix a new atty:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/133998-how-fix-bad-taste-new-atomizers.html

Also note that vapor volume is directly related to atomizer resistance, in any given model range. For example in the 510, a stock atty should read between 2.1 and 2.5 Ohms - any higher than this and it is outside of range, and will not perform at full value (unless used on a 5 volt mod). An LR atomizer reads from 1.5 to 1.9 Ohms, and due to their lower resistance they produce much more vapor, although they are harder on the battery of course, so this gain is not free - you may need to replace the battery more often. This points up the fact you need a multimeter or you are just groping in the dark...

The carts themselves last forever, I guess you mean the filler? Get a cart mod. You should be able to put 6 drops or more in a stock 510 cart when refilling, depending on the cart mod used. With some you can get 10 drops in, a 510 cart takes 12 drops total when empty. 6 to 8 drops is about the equivalent of 2 cigarettes, depending on your usage profile. A 510 cart is therefore equivalent to 2 or 3 cigs, maybe more if you are a light user. In general people tend to use their ecig for a 'session' for about 10 minutes or so, ie double the time a cigarette lasts, as it takes double the time to get an equivalent amount of nicotine. All these things depend on various factors, so are variable.

I notice that even using the 36mg nicotine juices, I still have a craving for nicotine, which a regular cigarette can satisfy. I started 2 weeks ago cutting down on my analog use, and raising my vaping use. There are at least 3 factors involved with tobacco addiction, so nicotine alone is not the sole factor. What you are probably missing is the other ingredients in tobacco such as assorted alkaloids/ MAOIs (and even the synergens that are artificially added like ammonia), and these can be as addictive as nicotine for some people. Some never have this problem at all, but for those who do, some sort of solution is needed or the ecig will fail. It's not a problem at all if you know the answer, and there are three possible solutions:
1. Smoke one or two cigs a day until this period passes, as it does for most but not all people. Try to cut down to one cig a week. It can be done - but don't rush it, there's no reason to.
2. Use Swedish Snus if you prefer to leave the cigs alone entirely.
3. Add TA (Tobacco Absolut) or TE (DIY tobacco extract / essence) to your e-liquid, for use when the craving is strong. Search ECF for links on this. There is a sub-forum on how to make TE, which is very effective for some, including me.

First decide on a cart mod, then look at sources of supply for the necessary materials. I use roll-up cigarette filters, prepared in a special way - but every cart mod user has their own preference and few agree with each other. The most efficient in liquid usage terms is probably the ZFM or a variant: a straw and silicone disc.

I never bought any more carts at all after the first couple of months, the 30 or so I have will last for n years, unlike the filler, which needs regular replacement. When it gets plugged or starts to affect the taste, just throw it, the cost is insignificant. Alternatively, something like the ZFM mod might last almost as long as the cart itself - a very long time measured in years.
