40 year smoker wanting to try vaping here.

I have done some research on the different starter kits and would like your opinions on what you would buy and which is a good kit to start and also what is the better deal.

Locally there is the joyetech eGo-C with 650 Mah Battery Starter Kit from Joyetech eGo-C with 650 Mah Battery Starter Kit - $69.99 | DFWvapor.com, The Best US E-Liquid Made!

Then from Totally Wicked there is Tornado eGo-C MEGA Twist Compact Kit 1000mAh from http://www.totallywicked-eliquid.co...o-ego-c-mega-twist-compact-kit-2-product.html

Third up is MadVapes 510 Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer Kit at MadVapes 510 Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer Kit

Lastly there is GotVapes StartMeUp! New Vaper COMPLETE Kit - Everything Included GotVapes StartMeUp! New Vaper COMPLETE Kit - Everything Included [gc-NEWVAPERego-starterkit] - $79.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more but it is out of stock at the moment.

I want to get something that is quality and at a decent price but when i look through them all some of the terms I don't understand the differences between them such as dual coil and the advantages if the VV for newcomers.

I really appreciate and value your opinions since this looks like THE place for information.

Thanks

I'm pretty new around here, too, so I don't think I can answer any of your questions yet or provide the advice you need. But congrats on deciding to switch to vaping! I've been off and on vaping for about 2 years and finally made the switch to all vaping this year. I started with a Blu starter kit that got me by up till now but just upgraded to a Volt X2 and T3 setup from Smokeless Image that I'm waiting on in the mail. Good luck!

Well for starting out I am a fan of The Vapor Room. They have a good basic eGO starter kit that gives you two complete e-cigs with clearomizers and charger here: *New* Clearomizer eGo Kit in'a Case. You REALLY need two batteries so that you can have one charging while you are vaping. I would go for the option of 1000 mh batteries. The 650 mh is OK but you will want the 1000's probably right after you get the 650's. I have started a whole bunch of people off with these kits over the past couple years and everyone has been pretty happy. The other advantage is that their juice pretty good too. You can receive both your kit and some decent juice right in the same package. The new vapers I have converted over seem to really like the USA Reds but the fruit flavors are also very good. You get a free 15 ml of juice for being a first time customer, and the kit comes with 6 ml, and that's nice too!

I'm sure there are other good starter kits out there too! Best of luck and welcome to vaping! :)

the first one, u only get 650mah batteries, the second one, u only get 1 battery (and u need to have 2 at least, so u can use one when the other is charging) the last 2 look the best to me (imo)
at the risk of sounding like a cheerleader-but i am only going with what i have used-u can get a kgo 1100mah kit at hoosier ecig 42.99 (which i think is a good buy) and then u just need liquid-they sell the cheap dekang in 50ml bottles for about 10.00.
I still use the kit i bought from them a year ago. I've recently added a couple of spinners (batteries) but after income tax time I think I am gonna go ahead and buy another kgo kit.

I like the three choices that you have listed. I started vaping about 6 weeks ago with the eGo-C style battery. I like the the C5 and T2 rebuildable cartomizers. From what I have found out, its a much better choice than the cig look-a-like types from a users sticking with it perspective. I only have anecdotal evidence on this so take it for what its work. A couple of weeks ago I upgraded to t Silver Bullet with a couple of different sized 510 tanks. I did this originally because my wife wanted to switch over after finding out her aunt had cig induced cancer (from the benzine). I gave her my eGo setup because I knew that she would be more successful with something that was easy to use and worked well. I like my new setup but then I'm a gadget geek. With a mod there are a lot of ways to customize. Good Luck and good vaping!

What i started out with was a Volt kit found at smokeless image. Its a great intro kit and they have some fairly good ejuices to choose from one is the 555, that is what i startd out with and got me off of the analogs. By the way. i have been a smoker of over 25 years, but since i started vaping, i have never looked back nor have i picked up an analog since.. Congrats on looking to make the switch and best of luck to you.

The eGo twists are fantastic for someone new. VV is great for dialing in the sweet spot.

This kit is a hell of a deal and includes quality stuff. All you'd need is some quality juice.

Ego Twist Kit $32

from the site description:

-Stainless Steel 1100mAh Ego Twist so you can play with the voltage levels a little and find that 'sweet spot'
-A 5 pack of Boge 2.0Ω Cartomizers, fresh, clean, and empty
-Charging accessories (USB 510 and a wall wart)
-A random colored drip tip

Canuk,

I wish I would've started with the eGo-C Twist (variable voltage) kit instead of the plain old eGo-T. You can adjust the temp of your vape and get a good bit more pleasure out of it. And they aren't that much more expensive!

Be careful about buying cheap knockoffs though. I'd check the list of Forum Suppliers on here to find a reputable vendor. I believe all the ones listed in your OP are on ECF.

I believe in the KISS principle.... Its either Keep it simple stupid or Keep it simple and satisfying. If you have not quit yet and your still smoking real cigarettes. Go to Walmart get a Mistic starter kit. They look more like and feel like a real cigarette and will not cost you alot of cabbage to find out if it is for you.

Making the transition from real cigs to an ego style might be a bigger leap to overcome at first, an automatic stick style that looks more like and feels more like the real thing may help you fight the demon.

I found when I first started out vaping that the Mistic was actually a really good value and a decent vape, when it wasnt sold out..

good luck!!!

If I knew a month ago what I did now...lol. I have been smoking for 25 years. So I am still a noob. I have a couple of questions to ask you, from my own experience. These questions aren't meant to be intrusive though informative. 1) How much and what did you smoke? 2) If you work, do you sit at a desk for the greatest portion of the day, or have a workstation with readily accesible USB or 110 connections available? 3) What is your commute time if you work? 4) Have you checked locally for a vapor shop, they all vary. And when I say vary I mean wildly so. Some will do this, some won't, some just resell. You have to go check them out, ( I buy juice at one store in particular because it is inexpensive and they can make it 36mg). 4) What is your initial investment budgeted at? I wouldn't spend over $60 on a first buy, and I could get by with half that now. If money is no object, specify that. Also your tastes for efluid and nicotine levels will not be the same as smoking real coffin nails. I love menthol efluids, and I hated menthol cigarettes. I still smoke cigarettes and dip, though I buy packs of smokes instead of cartons now. Ever person is different, and what you liked to "burn and inhale" will have no relevance to what you would like to vape Just my two cents.

I would not do business with either Totally Wicked or Got Vapes, read the vendor review boards and you'll see why.

As for DFW I have no experience with them but that price seems a bit high.

Someone has recommend Hoosier e-cig supply. He's a great vendor with low prices and reliable customer service. My other go-to shop is My Vapor Store which also has a wide selection of starter kits and great service. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Good question and some good thoughts so far.

I smoke a pack a day of Marlborough reds.
I do have USB available as I sit at my desk all day.
I have a 20 minute drive to work.
I would like to keep the initial investment to under $100 with some juice samples.

I have looked locally but haven't found much other than local smoke shops but do not know if they carry what I am looking for. The first link I gave is a fairly local place -30 minute drive but the price seems a bit high to me.

Some great advice so far! Keep the suggestions coming!

Shop around, I would advise 2 1000 mah batteries, usb 2.0 charger. Variable volt batteries are nice, either twist or preset (click to adjust). Buy a cheap ce2/3/4 clearomizer, I would suggerst a mini Vivi Nova and a Cartomizer tank, either single or dual coil to start with. I have 3 incoming orders for ejuice from different vendors. My suggestion on ejuice is check the forums for vendor names and see if they offer sampler packs, prices vary wildly as well as nicotine strengths, and shipping charges and delivery times. I know it's a lot to take in, just keep checking these forums and make sure to bookmark anything in your browser that looks helpful, so you can reference it later.
