You won't blow anything up using a Protank with your new Nemesis. IMO 1.8-ohm coils are better on a mechanical mod. With 1.8-ohm coils you would be vaping at 2.3 amps (assuming 4.2 volts which is the battery right off the charger) or 2 amps at 3.7v (which is what your batteries will drop to pretty quickly). You would be at a very safe amperage, well below the limits of even a standard Efest battery and the 1.8-ohm coil will give you more vapor than the 2.2 ohm coils.

If you think that you will want to do any sub-ohm vaping in the future, you may want to invest in better (30a) batteries that will safely allow much higher current draw.

And just go ahead and order the 10 pack of magnets from FT mentioned in a previous post. I just got mine and am glad I did. Much nicer switch now. But I'd rather wait a month for them than pay $15 for two. Personally I used three and broke one. The spring works fine, but after a month you'll appreciate the upgrade.

If you are not ready for building, Aspire Nautilus with 1.6ohm coils works fine on the Nemesis. Will work with 18650's, 18500's and 18350 batteries.
Just set my eldest son up this way and it is keeping him off smokes.
Grab a tank and some extra coils. When your ready, the Kayfuns are about as simple as it gets for building and perform excellent once set up properly.

I tried reading up on sub ohm vaping and i kinda got a little lost. Its when you vape on extremely low amount of ohm? I am not trying to sub ohm, I just want a set up that I can tinker with and use like I would my itaste and evod. I love the aspect of building and tinkering with the devices that helped me quit smoking analogs. Its the geek in me and it's a great little hobby.

I am trying to just stay safe and how a nice little set up. Whether I used my nemesis with my protank III with 2.2 ohm coils or build my own with my RSST. I dont want anything blowing up in my face, I just want a decent set up that vapes nicely and can be improved, tinkered, and work for a decent amount of time.
Sounds like you have plenty to keep you happy with your LR (1.3 to 1.8 Ohms) atomizer/coils.

Sub Ohms requires more consideration for safety parameters and if done right the benefits are well worth the trouble, but it takes a bit of time and effort to get through the learning curve.

You are correctly taking it through the proper spectrum; start with conventional resistances to get a foundation for moving on to sub ohms if and when you wish.

Thabks crxess and ukeman great input. I received all my stuff just not my extras like my rsst and 18350s. I build the stillare and came up with .6 ohms using my itaste ohms meter. Is that safe while running that sony 18650 battery?

I also bought the magnets. Would investing in a kick or vape safe make my setup a little safer. I just get super nervous when in using this mod for fear of it backfiring. I also bought a kayfun liters every wick type to try out. What ohms should I be looking for when I build the coils for the kayfun and the rsst? Are there any tutorials that you recommend? Please let me know what else I can buy to help make this fool proof from blowing up without using prebuilt tanks like my protank. I really want to use my rsst and kayfun lite with 18350 batteries. Short and sweet. Also bought the nano kit for the kayfun.

Any advise on what ohms to look for, tutorials for my set up, and items to pick up to make this set up work safely and effectively in short mode.

The items I have are two 18350 purple imr effest, rsst and kayfun lite, cotton and 2mm silica (for some reason I prefer ekowool silica) , 30 gauge kanthal, nemesis in short mode. Any idea, tips, guides, etc. also bought a nice micro tool kit.

.6 while a darn good sub ohms coil resistance, would be considered mid range if you were going sub .50 ohms which folks do a lot especially with duals.... is kind of borderline for an 18350 batt.

at this point i would say
- get with the ohms law and find out how many amps you are drawing and then compare with the max amp allowable on that batt.
- what is the attraction to the 350's?
If I were as concerned about safety as you say, surely an AW 18490 (which has a max 24amp) and longer batt life (when you go low ohms, the batt usage time shrinks).
To be honest, I only use 18650 batts and i go through 3 a day easily, with .4 Ohms my norm; safety and longer usage.

other than that, maybe stick in the .75 to .80 ohms range... and dont forget once your coil is broken in, the resistance goes up a tad.

edit: I will repeat; there is a learning curve to going sub ohms... its worth it but takes some time. If i have more time i'll get back with some tips.

.6 ohms should be safe on a Sony VTC5 18650 battery.

The question is, are you confident that you actually got a Sony VTC5 battery from the vendor you bought from? If you feel confident that the battery is genuine then you shouldn't worry about that battery handling that coil. If you want to be as safe as possible, you need to make sure you trust the vendors you buy from, because no one here can tell you that what you bought is real or fake with one picture of the battery with a questionable sticker on it.

I don't trust the vendor I got the 18650 battery from but a friend looked it over and says everything looked great. The reason why I want to use 18350s are because I want the nemesis to just be as small as possibly as I lug it around. I will use the 18650 for when I am home. That's also the reason why I want a tank. I can't spend time dropping liquid when I am at work.

For now I don't want to sub ohm vape just regular vaping like I would with a protank or nautilus. I have every coil range from their 1.8 - 2.4 ohms. Hopefully my rsst will be here tomorrow. I am a newbie and have been researching, reading, and watching as much as I can to be safe and build a decent coil. Hopefully with the rsst and kayfun nano I will have an easier and Safer time. For on the go I want a small device with a tank and when I am at home I will switch it to te 18650 mode.

I just keep creating coils with the stillare and they are in the .6 range but when I use it, the throat hit is harsh and it rast burnt. So I am hoping for better results with the rsst and kayfun. I also don't want a dripper because of those reasons and I want something I can fill and forget. Too be extra safe while I learn the ropes I'm hoping to build an rsst or kayfun with a 1.0 to 1.8 ohms. I don't need to cloud chase or sub ohm until I really learn what's up.

That's why I came to this community. I started with volt ecigs (what a joke) to evods to itaste and now my nemmy. So any advice, tips, recommendations, guides, tutorials, or anything to help me understand how to build, vape, and be safe are welcome. So far this forum has really been amazing. I like my Protanks, I don't want to buy a nautilus, I would rather build decent coils with my Rba tank and vape normally. I don't need .2 ohm coils for now. But my new purple imr 18350 came from a reputable dealer that has never sold me anything that wasn't authentic so I can't wait for that. As I said I will still use my itaste and nemmy in short mode at work and in the go. But thanks for all the posts and help. I appreciate all the help and am looking forward to more info from everyone.

I will post some images once I get everything delivered and set up and get some more feedback from you. I am willing to trade my stillare for something for a beginner. I'll pay postage both ways lol. Or maybe whoever helped me out the most will just happen to get it anyway. Thanks everyone. Keep it up!

You can sample different resistances; once you start making coils ( micro coils are the bomb) it becomes easy.

Stick with what works for you now and just start expanding your range a little...

Harshness in a sub ohms comes from lack of juice in the wick, and insufficient air flow; once you get that dialed in, you'll see it at its best. Wicking is important too; too much or too little is an issue especially with cotton ball wicks which most use for best flavor and ease of use.

Re: small batts why not use the 18500? its small and handles more range safely and will last longer.

I have 6 nice Nemesis clones. I run kicks with 18350's in several.(also like shorter looks)
I never take my 18350's below 1.3ohms. I prefer to leave a little head room on the load and increase available vape time.
Kicks are not much use when going sub ohm. especially in the .5 range.
I also doubt a fuse will be much good if running deep sub ohm. It will just keep tripping needlessly.

Hope you enjoy the RSST. I have one but rarely use it. just can't quite get it to stay consistent like my Kayfuns and Ithakas.

My suggestions for you...

Consider an inexpensive dripper clone. Easy to learn about coil building because you're not that worried about getting the wick just perfect to properly feed from a tank. Many tank designs including the Kayfun require emptying the tank to change coils. None of that with a dripper. The wick only need be "good enough" to keep the coil wet.

Most people seem perfectly happy with 1.2 to 1.8 ohm builds with Kayfuns. This resistance range is also safe with the smaller 18350 batteries you want to use. If you're having trouble getting the resistance higher than what you're currently building you want more wire length in your coil. So add more turns, use a larger diameter coil, or higher gauge wire (bigger gauge wire is smaller in diameter and higher resistance wire). I use 7/8 wraps around a 3mm screwdriver with 30 gauge Kanthal and get about 1.6 ohm.

How is the Stilare anyway? I imagine its one of the more updated drippers...

There's lots of RDA threads like "whats the BEST RDA?" and for my definition these are straight up 2 or 3 post drippers on a base, for single, dual or more coils (reducing your resistance by 1/2 for the duals btw)... and the "better" ones have dual adjustable air holes or slots in the top cap.
Some will have more or less juice capacity, including the ones that have a juice well/s like Origen etc, but for the most part they are straight up drippers. (I've seen a lot of threads where folks say the Origen is the best dual dripper (and it has deep drip wells) and i agree there.

I've used a Kayfun, a Spheroid, and a Penelope... and yes the Kayfun types would be a hassle to change coils with, so like bsoplingersays, your typical RDA would be a better place to start trying different coils.

FWIW I have left those types and gone for drip tanks that have air posts situated under the coil/s giving a great draw, vapor and better flavor imo than anything out there.
These are not easy to find: Prometey2 is my favorite, Gryphon Ti is a winner, I have a Troy X coming and an Achilles on order from Ukraine (which is shut down at the moment due to turmoil).
(The Magma has under coil air holes but right on the base and not raised so juice could easily get in there.)

I find this thread ironic...your journey towards mechanical mod bliss has begun exactly where mine has just ended up. I am currently running a SS Nemesis/Stillare with a VTC5, and it is (as of right now) as good as it gets for me. I absolutely agree with you regarding taking it on the road though, it can be a hassle. IMHO you'll be better off with the kayfun than the RSST if you're looking for pocket-sized 18350 convenience, the kayfun has a significantly smaller chance of leakage once you get it dialed in to your liking. My sweet spot seems to be at 1.3 ohms on a kayfun-style device, which seems to be pretty standard around here. Shouldn't be a problem for those purple efest 18350 batteries. I'm interested to find out where you end up with this, please keep us informed!

Hi ukeman, the Stillare is pretty good, but like I said I'm not really into drippers. If you happen to want it, I mean it's literally brand new, I would trade something with you and pay for the postage both ways lol. And again I really appreciate all of your help. I was running like .6-.8 dual coils on it, and it hit like a champ, but it's just inconvenient for me. So let me know if you want it lol.

UPDATE.....

BeerGoldClouds, I ended up getting both my RSST and Kayfun working with coil ohm ranging from 1.2 - 2.2 and I have to say I love the set up (18350 mode) and both of these gennys. They both throw off excellent flavor and crazy clouds. If I had to pick between the two of them, I couldnt. The RSST is definitely easier to coil, but both aren't really troubling. I also bought the nano kit for the kayfun and I can honestly say that the whole setup is tiny, but hits like a train and is a smooth flavorful vape.

I am more comfortable saying that this set up kicks ..., and both were not hard to set up at all. No leaking and 2 batteries last me all day and into the night. Plus they charge pretty quickly. I haven't been using any mesh or cotton, just ekowool silica and 30 to 32 gauge kanthal, and I have to say it's a great and quick wicking process. I highly recommend the Nemesis, RSST, Kayfun Lite, and the Ekowool silica if thats what kind of wick you like.

Any other question or comments. And please, honestly if anyone wants the Stillare, I am willing to trade or sell it for the best offer. I will also pay for postage both ways if a trade is made.

Thanks again people! Vape On!

that's awesome ndura... that you succeed at genesis... i'll have to look up that Stillare.
Although i don't get how they can say Nemesis and Stillare without disclosing they are clones... but this industry is slamming along.
Infinite is supposed to be a good cloner so i hear... but like all of the clones they have their ups and downs.

duals are a different animal in my experience... lots of vapor but not all have great flavor. A single coil dripper works better for me (except for my Origen for some reason; its the best dual I've tried.
The only single coil drippers I actually use are the RM2 for Reo's... and the rest of my drippers (Gryphon, Prometey, etc have an under coil air post... awesome flavor and vapor, but hard to get and pricey$$$
I just received my Fakir Troy X from Turkey and it has same under coil air design... $110 shipped.
Yeah, I pay to play, but as far as Nemesis, I have 2 reals and about 3 or 4 brass clones because I they kick .... and i love the button designs.

I have yet to see an under coil air draw dripper or drip tank clone yet.
