ive had my copper nemesis and omega atty for a while now, maybe 2 months, now for some strange reason im getting an unusually hot button. ive tried cleaning the mod and rebuilding coils but it still does it. im using sony VTC3 and ive noticed that there is this black ring on the negitive end of my battery, its the same size as the copper contact, ive tried cleaning it but i couldnt even scrape it with my finger nail, it seems etched into the battery.im hoping this is enough information for someone out there to help out and resolve this issue, thanks.

Can you supply pictures? And have you tried another battery? Hopefully you have a backup battery you can try and see if it behaves the same way. Have you tried cleaning all the threads as well?

Read up on arcing and check your resistance on your atty. Make sure your are well within the limits of your vtc3 battery.
Further more check your spring/magnets and button (take it apart) to see if all still OK. Make sure it makes proper contact with the bottom of the battery when firing.

Sometimes taking apart the button and cleaning works, BUT make sure you DO NOT lose the rice pin.

and i am within my amp limit: 3.7V-.17Ohm=21Amps, stretching it but if i go lower its not enjoyable, and what would i be looking for in my springs

You know a 3.7 volt battery charges up to 4.2V +/- 0.05 volts with a smart charger and higher with a regular charger not being watched? That will increase amps drawn. Plus an ohm reader can be bad or go bad at of nowhere I had one that became off by 0.03-0.04 ohms that makes the difference from continuous to pulsing power if going below .19.

Yes, you are within the amp limit (if your ohm reader is accurate) however a fully charged battery is 4.2v. 4.2v at .17 ohms = 24.7 amps. And you could be breaching it if you have one of the counterfeit Sony's that keep cropping up.

Just last week Illumination Supply (a well respected battery supplier) found counterfeit VTC5 batteries in their inventory Don't know if their VTC3 inventory is affected. Discussion thread below.
