Hey all,

So summer break is here, the kids are out of school and today will be my first day stuck with my 3 nephews (5, 8, and 9) all day long. I'm not even there yet and I can already hear them in my head fighting over the xbox and anything else they can fight over.

I've already made sure batteries are charged, everything's filled and packed my carry case with charger and such.

Thing is, I haven't had a smoke since I put them away last night as I didn't enjoy the one I had after supper (I actually gagged on it *shudders*) and vaping this morning with my coffee was great no want for a smoke so that's great!

I'm debating whether to take 2 smokes in an empty pack with me just in case I can't deal with it today or leave them all home and see hope for the best.

Take your PV, leave the smokes :)

Meh. Either way.

I paid for the smokes I had...and I finished them up while vaping. The important thing is to set a cut-off in your mind. I wanted to make sure the vaping mechanics worked out while having a fall-back plan.

Throw them out,
Freeze them in a bag in a block of ice stored in the freezer
Burn em up
Give them away
Whatever. But set a point where you won't get, or have, any more. That's when you commit to the e-cigs. Do it in a way that works for you.

I had some analogs left when I switched to vaping and I finished them off. But I finished them just to finish them. I didn't save them for that emergency situation.

Part of the addiction is routine. I found that a lot of times, I smoked just because it was what I normally did. Driving to work? Must be time for a smoke. A little stressed, gotta have a smoke.

Don't get caught in a trap where your mind thinks that you need an analog whenever you are under a lot of stress. Smoke the rest of your analogs, just to get rid of them and start your new routine of vaping under stress.

I say take them with you as it's early in the game- view them as your "back up". I believe and always will believe the transition should be stress free. My :2c:...get the kids involved in physical activities as that will sap their youthful exuberance IMO.
Best of Luck and if you need an analog it's no big deal as you've taken the all important first step and seem to be enjoying vaping.

Absolutely the choice is yours... But I'm sure if angel didn't want our opinion she would have never posted. We'll support whatever decision you make angel.

:tumble:

I was going to back that up with my own opinion but backed out because what works for me might be terrible advice for someone else. I guess I may as well go ahead since the disclaimers are in place:)

I have carried a pack of cigarettes around with me in my bag for five months. I had a pack and a half left when I picked up my first e-cigarette. I gave the opened pack away to a homeless guy after the first few weeks and kept the sealed one.

Why? I gave up smokinq once before and thought I had beaten it until around nine months later when stress hit me from every side: high pressure work, agonising break-up with long-term girlfriend, moving to a new home and other unpleasantnesses. At the same time cigarettes became more available to me than ever before (free! And I was even allowed to smoke them at my desk). I found it impossible to turn them down.

When I stopped this time, I decided to keep cigarettes with me. It was important to me to be able to resist them when they were a real, available temptation, not only when there were none around.

In five months I broke once and smoked half a cigarette. I felt bad about it but forgave myself. If I had gone to buy a pack of cigarettes I would have felt like a big failure.

You hit on a key factor. Don't beat yourself because you slipped up. Forgive yourself and go on. You'll be better for it.

I chain vape when stressed, and would rather do this than smoke an analog any day. You gagging is a sign your body is pretty much over the whole analog thing and the steam from vaping has begun to clean out your respiratory system, which will make analogs unbearable. I say leave them and break the ingrained idea that you need them, when vaping will surely be enough for you and is healthier. One more day analog free puts you closer to never even thinking about them. The addiction to them is purely psychological, since you get nicotine from vaping. Its up to you, there is no RIGHT way to quit smoking regular ciggs, as long as you keep your eyes on the prize, lol.
