This is weird. I ordered two 1300 evods from fasttech. They both came with evod tanks. I swapped out a wick from one of the tanks, just for a fresh wick. Then tried to use it with my evod 1100. No vape. So I tried it on my new 1300. Great vape. But after a while, a burnt taste. I've seen these 1300s with adjustable voltage. Mine seems to be set a 5 volts, I think, based on the fasttech description.

what to do?!? Do I just need to get the right wicks; which ones will work with both?

If it is set at 5v that is your problem, with a standard eVod head (1.8ohm or 2.2ohm) you want your voltage a little lower than that. I'm not sure that it is outputting 5v though, I know some of the stuff fasttech sells is real kanger and some of it is not, real kanger eVod fixed voltage batteries are regulated to 3.7v. Do you know what the resistance of your heads are? They should be marked with the resistance at the base

Thanks for the response. Here's more info. Any ideas?

I bought these: https://www.fasttech.com/forums/1390601

I posted this same question on the Fasttech site: what Ohms do you use for the heads? I used this last night after charging both batteries the required 8 hours. The heads that came with the Evod tanks vaped great, for about a half hour, until I got a burnt taste. Tried both heads, same thing: Lots of vapor, burnt taste after about a half hour. Maybe if I used a higher Ohm head? These heads aren't stamped, so I have no idea what Ohms I'm running. I tried the heads that came with this on an Evod 1100 that's at 3.7 volts (I think). The 1100 wouldn't vape with the heads that came from this unit. What to do?

Any help appreciated!

Slow down. The wick in your coil head is not able to transport the liquid to the coil as fast as you're trying to vaporize it. Once the wick at the heating element dries out enough, the liquid is burned rather than vaporized. This deposits gunk on the wick and coil and makes the condition worse.

You may be able to restore some of the system's performance by cleaning and dry burning. Here's how.

Whatever you do, don't lose or remove the flavor wicks from the reassembled system. Those things are there for a reason. So, you can pretty much stop watching after he's done putting the flavor wick back. Instead of removing them like he suggests, put them all back and reassemble the unit.

The 1300 and 1100 numbers describe the battery capacity, not necessarily battery voltage. Most Ego style batteries are regulated to provide 3.2v. The genuine Kanger Evod battery is regulated to provide 3.7v. I have no idea what voltage your two units provide.

The kit that you have is not a genuine KangerTech Evod kit.

If you attach that tank to the 1100 battery and can get absolutely no vapor (battery doesn't fire, coil does not heat), but it does work on the 1300, then there might be a compatibility issue between those tanks and batteries made by other manufacturers.

QC is sketchy when it comes to Chinese-made clones. Get genuine Kanger gear and you'll probably never have a problem. Try mixing and matching products from different knockoffs, and it's always a coin flip.

OK. The 1300s seem to be 5 volts. I have a genuine Kanger 1100 that's 3.7. Maybe I should just chuck the 1300s from Fasttech. Only $20 lost, and I still have a nice case they came in. And two Evod-type tanks. Not a total loss.

Before you pitch the batteries, why not either buy evod heads at a higher resistance or build you own to match the higher voltage. I think you could get a good vape at 2.6 - 2.8 ohms.

Also, did you remove the flavor wicks from the head? Sometimes those cause the burnt taste.

Removing flavor wicks invites leaking problems. Every time.

I am pretty sure that those two 1300mAh batteries are not kicking out 5v. The specs on the FastTech page seem to be describing the input/output voltage of the wall adapter.

The batteries could however be putting out 3.7v. Depending on the coil resistance, that could yield a warm enough coil to get burnt flavor if the wicks aren't doing their job of transporting liquid.

I don't think the problem lies in the batteries. I'm more suspicious of the Evod tanks and the coils that came with them.

Do you have a local vape store that sells Evods? Maybe you could take one of the 1300's and the 1100 with you, along with one of your tanks and see if the folks there can diagnose the problem hands-on. If they do, and resolve it, reward them with a small purchase. Maybe a bottle of liquid and a few replacement heads, and the promise to return for more business...

Thanks everyone. Those are my plans. I buy most of my stuff from a local vape shop. But I was lured by the low prices to get a couple of backup units from Fasttech. Cheers. Happy Vaping!

Just one more update. Took my purchase to the good folks at Smokin Vapor. They were more than happy to help. The bottom line: the 1300 batteries are good, ego knockoffs, but they're more like 1000s. The tanks look like evod but they're knockoffs too and have thin stems on the wicks. So ... You can't replace the wicks with the standard evod type. So I chucked the tanks, kept the batteries, charger and case. And purchased some juice and evod wicks for an existing tank.

Not all bad for the $20 spent at fasttech but I didn't receive what was advertised. Cheers. Happy vaping. Check out Smokin Vapor. http://smokinvapor.com
