I just started vaping a week ago. I purchased the V2 E-Cig from their website, and I also purchased their blank cartomizers so I could fill them with juice I purchased from Vape Dojo here in my home town. To this point I absolutely love vaping, and have no desire to go back to smoking analogs (I smoked Newports for about 12 years, quit for about 2 1/2 years, and started smoking Camel Silvers for the last year and a half). The problem I'm having is the dry throat and dry mouth, but the major reason for this post is that out of nowhere yesterday I blew my nose and the color of my mucus was almost fluorescent yellow/green (which is the color of my Vape Dojo Strawberry Juice). It happened again today, I was bending over to pet my cat and a watery type mucus began to flow from my nose (about 8 drops worth) and it was that same fluorescent yellow/green color. The strawberry juice that I use is 70% PG and 30% VG.

Has anyone had an issue like this? Is this normal, or should I be concerned? One thing I did do was mix a few different favors together to create my own personal flavor. This mixture was in a 10 ml bottle, it contained 5 ml of the strawberry, 2.5 ml of vanilla, 2 ml of "Alice in Wonderland - Cupcake City", and .5 ml of cinnamon (all from Vape Dojo). It's delicious, but could this mixture cause my issue? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I certainly hope it's common, because I would hate to have real issue after experiencing how great vaping is. Thanks for your time....

first of all if that happened to me I would think I was having a 60's flashback (ok, 70's, I'm not really that old)

but seriously, I wouldn't think the color of your juice could carry in the vapor (smoke) that you are inhaling to cause a bright color. I vape a dark carmel color juice and it goes in and comes out white. You aren't getting a lot of juice coming out of the carto into your mouth are you?

Also, vaping tends to dry my nose out instead of making it run.

Hey there wubanga! and welcome to the forums always great to add another member to the vaping family. I dont think its the juice causing your mucus to be florescent in color. usually this happens when your body is cleaning out the toxins from your body. for example, when you're sick your mucus turns bright green because of your body fighting off the toxins and all the bad stuff from your body to help you get better soon. So my guess is to what is happening to you is that, since you quit smoking the nasty sticks your body is getting rid of the toxins in your body. If you are really concerned I would go to the doctor but im sure its not from the juice you are vaping. and please excuse my posts I never use proper punctuation's I type run on sentences for daysssss haha. I say give it another week for your body to adjust and you should be fine hope this helps and again welcome!!

Hi and welcome to ECF. In regards to dry throat/ mouth...
PG and VG are humectants...
A humectant is a substance used primarily in foods and cosmetic products to help retain moisture. These substances are called hygroscopic, which means that they are able to absorb ambient water. These hygroscopic compounds posses a chemical structure that attracts water from the atmosphere and binds it to various sites along the molecule.

When we inhale PG/ VG it "traps" the moisture in our mouth, throat and nasal area and thus the vapor. The real problem arises when the body is dehydrated and begins "stealing" moisture from other parts of the body to keep key organs hydrated. Add to that more than 3 cups of java or caffeine based soda drinks and severe dehydration can occur.
Ask any chemist and they will tell you the same. I drink 2+ liters of water per day and no more than 3 cups Java per day.

As for the nasal mucous do you have allergies? You may be allergic to something in the juice flavor OR you're inhaling/ exhaling through the nasal area and the nose hairs are catching the juice flavor particles.

I really appreciate all the helpful comments. I will say that about two weeks ago I had a pretty bad cold, which I believe was irritated by allergies. I tend to get allergies in the spring and fall. I think it may be the actual juice getting into my mouth when I'm vaping. Not sure if anyone is familiar with the V2 blank cartimozers, but the tops come off very easily, and the top itself acts as the plunger that is supposed to prevent the juice from getting into wick shaft. Every time I fill it up (which is about one to two times a day) I clean the top and I notice when I wipe the interior of the top with a paper towel there is definitely juice in it. I really don't know how to prevent this from happening with the particular top, and it's unfortunate because it's super convenient and I really like it. I may have to go in a different direction though. I also notice when I cough, or hack up phlegm, I can taste the juice (this just started today). Does anyone have any experience with these V2 blanks?

Gee, I'm just a newbie, but I think I would seriously consider changing my hardware, do you have any other symptoms of allergies, sneezing, itching burning eyes etc. Do you have a sinus headache, if you had a sinus infection ( I get them), I usually have a terrible headache. If it persists, I would think about changing my vaping equipment and or see a doctor, take care!

Some of the flavored juices you are trying, I've tried in them and they are very drying to the inside of my mouth and throat.

A severe cold?

The mucus you are referring to being a greenish/yellow color is a very common symptom of walking pneumonia. I would get checked out by a doctor.

The discolored mucus cough can last for 3-4 weeks after the majority of the cold symptoms have passed without antibiotics.

If the stopper in your carto isn't functioning well, can you use a drip tip in place of the stopper? That may allow any "splashes" of juice to splash into the drip tip, and then you can just wash the drip tip. Many of them are standard sized to fit into cartomizers. Hope this helps.
