Welcome and I feel for ya.....do you have enough nic level?? I know for me, once I got the right nic level it was just the stinkies playing mind games. I use 24mg an was a PAD smoker. Then the mind tricks like going somewhere and automatically looking for a lighter and the ciggies.....pull out the vape and laugh.....another thing you are doing right is talking about it. Keep up and you will get a handle on this.....:toast:

I'm going on my fifth day without cigarettes and right now I'm hurting. How long does it take for the other addictive things in cigarettes to stop?

When you say "hurting" are you meaning just going through the process of quitting smokes..or are you physically hurting?

For me I had to chain vape 24mg juice for about 3 weeks to not want tobacco anymore. I was a pipe smoker so saying cigarette would be inaccurate.

I would say that whole tobacco alkaloid juices may be an option, but I would only use them if and only if these cravings do not subside, or if you find that there is a distinct pattern in smoking. The thing about vaping is it is okay to have a cigarette (or pipe) if you really really really really want one. Perhaps it might be better of thinking about this as switching to something else rather than quitting. It was that change in mental perspective that helped me the most I think. I didn't quit smoking, I took up vaping. It is rather fortunate that vaping is superior to smoking.

Also wanted to add, it is not the cigarettes you smoke that matters, its the ones you don't smoke.

if you absolutely have to, go have a cigarette. just one.
that's ok
I bet you'll find that you don't like the taste as much as vaping.
After I started vaping I kept wanting a cigarette and then when I got one I had to put it out because it made me sick !

This is how it was for me. Still is. I have pretty bad cravings, espically when I'm in the car with my gf and shes smoking. I just vape a little more. Once and a while I still light one up, but after a few puffs, the taste to me is gross and I end up just putting it out.

Here are some ways to cope. Try one or more of these:

- Make sure your rig produces thick clouds of vapor. Something that just gives out wimpy little wisps won't do the job.

- Up the nicotine strength of the refills to the max, until you start to experience OD symptoms, then back off by one step (go one strength lower). People have a tenfold difference in tolerance to nicotine, and you could be way too low. I can vape 36mg ad lib without feeling a thing (and occasionally have to, some days), but others just need 6mg. I wish I could use 6mg as it would be much cheaper...

- Get some WTA refill liquid. This has the other active tobacco alkaloids in it, and fixes the problem for most people in your situation.

- Buy some Swedish Snus and use that once or twice a day for a few weeks. Make sure to get the genuine stuff imported from Sweden.

- Smoke one cigarette in the morning and one last thing at night. After a few weeks cut one of them out. Then, later, the other one. It's not a race to see how fast you can drop the cigs, if you get there in the end it's job done.

I started on a cig lookalike and had smoked for 30 years. There was a lot of ritual habits I had to get used to even though I was fairly satisfied nic-wise. I even caught myself grabbing for a lighter a couple times and almost lighting the end of my Ecig. Lol. I did try a cig after about a week of solid vaping and just couldn't smoke it because by then I had gotten used to vaping. I thought there was hardly any vapor from the cig, the draw was real weird and it tasted bad to me. Sometimes trying a couple puffs of a cig and then flicking it can help you realize you aren't missing anything.

I'm struggling too. I was thinking of ordering WTA (aromaejuice.com) to see if that helped curb the cravings. I don't know if this is part of it, but the juice I'm vaping now is good but fruity. It's been easier with tobacco flavors. I also keep a bottle of water next to me constantly and alternate vaping with drinking water.

I agree with most o what the others have said.
Personally I used the "baby-steps method". Meaning I cut down on the number of cigarets I had in a day one at a time. Once I was down to just the one (lunch break with my coworkers), it took exactely one week untill that one cig at lunchtime tasted so horribly that I didn't even finnish it.
That was five and a half weeks ago, and I haven't smoked since.
Keep at it. And like someone else said earlier... It's not how fasr you kick th habit. It's THAT you kick it.

I had to go to 24mg of nicotine just to get some satisfaction.

I'm up in the middle of the night typing can't sleep and craving cigarettes that's what I mean by hurting.
welcome to tobacco withdrawal. most of the worst symptoms will be gone 1 month into your journey. it is totally natural to feel off your game. and you will have some days and nights that will test you. but 5 days in. that's a miracle for most smokers. pat yourself on the back. it does get better over time.

Going to the 24mg liquids is what did it for me, but each person is different. That first week while I was on 18mg blus was terrible. Switched to a better system (Vea) and to 24mg liquids and my cravings went down to a point that I wasn't biting peoples heads off every time someone spoke to me. Now I am down to 16-18mg during the mornings and 10-12mg during the rest of the day with no issues at all. I still keep a bottle of 24mg just in case, but have not used it in the last month.
