Good going so far, Congrats on 5th day.

Every day you wake up and vape rather than smoke a stinky is one step closer to not needing a stinky.

It took me a little over a month to stop having the occasional stinky, they taste worse the longer you don't have em.

I started at 36mg and gave myself headaches from OverNic after about 2 months I bumped down to 24mg and now 14 months and I am getting ready to drop to 18. FYI less Nic more flavor.

Everything tastes better now food etc. except cigarettes the flavor of stinkys really turns my stomach now.

I hope you find the right path and are successful, I think you will be. I think I am, I think I am, Chooo Chooo!!! Just stick with it.

After nearly 40 years of smoking I never even tired to quit. I just started vaping but continued to smoke whenever I felt like it.

When I realized how effortless it had been to decrease my analog usage by 2/3 in only a few days, I increased my nic level from 12mg to 18mg. I immediately dropped down to only 1 or 2 cigs a day, and stayed there for awhile.

Finally, I bought a bottle of 24mg juice and only used it if I had a craving. It always worked, I haven't lit any cigs since I got the 24mg.

So I don't know if this technique would work for everyone, but I never denied myself a smoke if I really wanted one. After just a few weeks, the analogs became unsatisfying and downright stinky to me. It was a very pain-free process to quit completely.

For me, it was psychological. When I made the switch I determined that the only way for me to "quit" was to not "quit". Quitting is unpleasant and though I've not had any tobacco in three weeks if I really really really want a pipe I'll go and pack a bowl and light it.

However, after only a few days I realized that the tobacco smoke just wasn't satisfying--with e-juice I can have whatever flavors i want, and they actually taste like those flavors (seriously cherry and vanilla pipe tobacco taste nothing like what they say they are) and it just plain tastes better. Tobacco smoke now tastes to me like ashtray and ghost pepper--very gross (for lack of a better description). That said if I had a craving that I couldn't vape through I would smoke--but I've not had one in a few weeks so far.

Other people have said that it was helpful to them to make the analog product of their choice inconvenient to use. For example if someone mostly smoked in front of the computer or TV they would move their cigarettes or pipe or whatever to the otherside of the house but made their PV easily available.

What I've noticed is that everyone's switching story is different. Some people lay the pack down and never pick it up again, others have to wean themselves off of cigs, and still others will have one or two a day while primarily vaping. I've said it before in this thread, what matters is not the tobacco you smoke, but the tobacco you don't smoke.

I hear ya on the nic withdrawals. I bought all juices at 6mg as I smoked ultra lights for 20 years and now rethinking and think I need to increase it. Is there anyway to still use the 6mg juices and just add nicotine? If so is there a ratio of drops of nic to what I have left in my bottles

You would be better off asking this question in the DIY section in here, Crocky. I'm sure they would be able to tell you. I do DIY but don't have an answer for that. sorry.

Another thing you can do (I did) is grab a pack of smokes....and if you want one, go smoke one....but keep on vaping! This way you satisfy a mental craving and habit. Plus, just knowing you can have one if you want it really helps. Telling yourself you can never have one again is poison! (That's why diets fail) You'll find that you smoke less and less tobacco cigs, eventually staying with vaping full time. It's not just the physical nic fix, there's a huge psychological aspect of fiddling with the cigarette you have to get by as well. Once I got used to the weight difference, I had a SafeCig in my hands all the time.

This comment is very true, at least it was for me. After smoking for 30 years and trying numerous times to quit in all different ways, I honestly figured I could never quit. When I started vaping, it was to lower my cig intake. I just couldn't tell myself I would NEVER smoke again. No way. Lol. I think some how not worrying about not smoking again took the pressure off of me. I did try a couple puffs after a week of vaping. And in the past 2 years at maybe four different times I've tried a couple puffs of a cig. But now I know that I love vaping so much more that I honestly don't think I could ever smoke again. That is really a huge miracle to me. I never thought I would ever feel this way.

if you absolutely have to, go have a cigarette. just one.
that's ok
I bet you'll find that you don't like the taste as much as vaping.
After I started vaping I kept wanting a cigarette and then when I got one I had to put it out because it made me sick !

Cherrycakes is right. Sometimes when the cravings are really bad light up an analog...it will probably taste disgusting and help kill those cravings.

Hang in there buddy, you're doing fine. I just celebrated my first year smoke free last month. I had a 1.5 pad habit for the last 40 years. Between my wife and I we tried everything, gum, lozenges, patches, hypnotism and Wellbutrin and nothing worked. And I had everything in the world to lose (I was trying to get on a liver transplant list). We started out with V2 cigalikes with 18mg but still had some cravings especially when around others that smoked. I realized that I probably wouldn't hold up if I didn't try something better. So I moved up to a Silver Bullet mod and a dual coil cartomizer and after they first hit on it I knew I was free. The urges to smoke still come every great once in a while but when they do I just vape until it goes away and now a little over a year later even smelling cigarettes is a turnoff. Nasty stuff! Oh, I should mention that mainly out of curiosity I did smoke one cigarette about 1 week or 2 in but it tasted so bad I had to put it out. You'll get there man, just hang in there!

Wow. Some excellent responses and points here! I had my last "analog" on Jan 25th, a 59 yr old, 2 PAD smoker. For me, I wanted a cigalike that was the closest thing to the "act' of smoking. Like many, I started with an under-powered solution that although it kept me off smoking, it was not altogether "satisfying". Too little "hit", cool vapor, not the warm sensation of smoking, and not enough longevity to carry me through the day. I did find a cigalike that suits me, and has enough "oomph" to give me that satisfaction. Two things make/made a big difference to me:

1. Vapor: I think that some underplay this, but a definite part of the experience to me is to have a rich, solid sensation of a warm "mouthful" of smoke...er, vapor. Some of the e-cigs that I tried simply felt, well..."thin" and unsubstantial.

2. Nicotine: Starting out, I think it is easy to underestimate the amount of nicotine one needs to vape in order to equal a cigarette. Cigarettes are a much more efficient transport of nicotine.

3. Taste: IMHO, NOTHING truly tastes like a cigarette vape-wise (even though I like vaping tobacco flavors as well as others). Finding a flavor that gives a rich, "tasty" sensation on the palate can go a long way towards replacing that cigarette flavor. In fact, the tobacco flavors that I enjoy most, really taste more like a combination of pipe-tobacco and the aroma of cured tobacco before being burned.

Rome wasn't built in a day, and most of us had been long-time smokers. Everyone is different to this. For me, I had to quit stone-cold. An "occasional" cigarette would have me back to 2 PAD, but others do better with a gradual transition, slowly vaping more and smoking less. It sounds like you have a good vaping system, so perhaps you do need to supplement vaping with the occasional smoke to "walk you down" from it.

At any rate, I wish you the absolute best of luck! Not smoking is a beautiful thing! Within days my smoker's cough settled down, and disappeared. I already feel much better than I have in awhile.

If you don't want to get into full DIY, which would be more than just adding nic to the 6mg because it would require adding flavoring also to retain your juice flavor, just buy the same juice in 18mg and mix equal parts of it and your 6mg to give you 12mg. Here's a calculator. If it doesn't go to the right page, use the one the left menu called mixing eliquids near the bottom:

Combined E-Liquid's Name

You can mix different ratios if you instead want 11,10, 9, 8 or 7 mg strengths. And don't mix all the 6mg you have because while you get the nic quicker from a smoke (ie: no delay), when vaping most of us vape more than we smoked and with the 20 minute or so delay in vape nic delivery, it builds up so you may still need some of your 6mg to come down for lack of a better term. Hope that makes sense... I'm in a hurry here.
