i would recommend not dropping over 200 right away. the only caveat is if you spend that much and get a provari you can flip the thing for a little less than what you paid for it.

for a beginner i would highly recommend getting a couple ego-twists in the highest mah rating available and some either kanger t3s or a kanger protank if you plan to use juice that cracks plastic tanks.

I think the ego's are over-hyped and are limited as to what you can use on them. I would either start out with a fixed voltage model like the Kgo which is better than the fixed voltage ego or if you want variable, then get a variable watt model over variable volt (like the twists & spinners). Variable wattage (VW) is "set & forget" as it will automactically keep your vape consistent without you needing to do anything. VV won't do that. For variable wattage, I would recommend either the Vamo or Zmax:

VAMO Variable Volt/Watt APV V2

Welcome to ECF and good luck in your search.

welcome to the Fog,

best thing i can say to anyone that wants to vape.
go for the best you can afford now.
you'll spend alot of money and wind up wishing,
you had done it in the first place.

buy the best and pass up the rest.
spend once now, or twice later.
i like provari, they're made in the usa, they make me happy.
i don't live in china, so i'd rather not support them.
buy what makes you happy, and you will be.
it really doesn't matter what you use, how much you spend.
the point is, you're not smoking.
life is short, and you can't take it with you....
play with it 'till you're bored, then get a new one.

that being said,
i would suggest a Provari, start with the best
you wont have to upgrade, there is none. lol
tanks are another issue.
a kanger protank is very good to start out on.
easy to use, clean, fill, pyrex tank so it won't break.
here is provari with a protank.
you can also get the led display in red, green, or blue.

i never have imagined buying an e-cig would be the most complex and intimidating thing :(

It's an "electronic" device so it will never be as simple as buying a pack of analogs (smokes). Think of it in terms of buying a stereo or an HD TV. You have to do some research and learn the lingo just like when purchasing those items. Did many of us know the meaning of "blu-ray" 4 or 5 years ago?

thanks, do you think this is something i should get? http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm

also does that contain everything i need or do i need to buy separate liquid stuffs?

i would say thats a great choice just keep in mind the mah rating is how long the battery is going to last so i recommend getting the largest available so you dont have to recharge batteries. and dont drop the vision spinners. i had too many buttons fail on me and some even without dropping which is why i usually recommend the ego branded ones. only fault ive found with them though

you will have to buy juice seperate which is part of the reason i dont recommend spending as much on devices at first. find juices you like first and the good thing about spending money on juice is if you decide to move up in a device the juice is still good. you can get some juice from there but in my experience, you should go to a juice vendor for juice. they just do it better. some ones with great reputations around here are: "mt baker vapor", "heathers heavenly vapes", and "alice in vapeland".

thanks for the replies guys but i'm still confused.
i'm thinking of just getting this one, as it looks the simplest to just checkout/buy: eGo-Tank System XXL 1000mAh Starter Kit what are your thoughts?

those tanks suck IMO. theyre nothing but dry hits and the attys are expensive and burn out quickly. go with something kanger on top. youd be better off with the kit you listed earlier.

as an aside, and maybe a little hijack (sorry), i just dont get recommending someone brand new to vaping to get a provari. like someone comes up to me and says "id like to get into riding motorcycles" i dont tell them "get a ducati". yeah, theyll never have to upgrade, but they dont even know what they like yet. plus, i never assume someone is on an unlimited budget and the money really could go to finding a delivery device they like, and juice they like. they dont even know what VV is yet.

I started vaping about 3 weeks ago and came across these forums wondering the same thing myself. I ended up buying a regular Joye 510 kit and used it for about a week but it left me wanting more. Then I got an ego c twist and I'm happy with it, had that for about a week and a half, got a vivi nova and I love it. I would go with what you were looking at or an ego c. I use the LR atomizers and type B carts.

i just starting out and found this forum. i'm looking for the best one to get and i'm confused by all the jargons and abbrevs like VV/EGO/KG, etc ...

Can someone just cut the junk and just point me what I should get that I won't regret? I don't mind spending upwards of $200. TIA!

when someone asks a direct question, i give a direct answer.
i don't check with someone else for approval first.
if you want a cadillac get one, if not get something else.
simple.

Just another option are the volts and volt 2X's from smokeless image. The volts are very close in the mimic a cig world.

They're EASY.. reliable and the customer service is great. I chose them back in October when I started vaping and have had no desire to *upgrade* as of yet. They now have a variable voltage battery too.. not sure if they have a starter kit with that in it though.
For juice delivery they have cartos, nano's, clearos, T3s and CE3s to fit their devices. Yeah.. it's 808 threading, sorta propriatary but enough options to keep me happy.
and COLORS! they have a good selection of colors (that's what sold me)

Unless you're going with a mod.. go with a 2 battery starter kit so there's always one charged when you want it.

i think it depends on how quickly you take to the hobby. most people entering the fold now are looking for a couple eGo-style variable voltage batteries (eGo-Twist or Vision Spinner...i have a clear personal preference for the Vision Spinner) and a couple clearomizers (i've been recommending one Vision 2.0 Clearo and one Kanger T3 so n00bs can decide between a top coil and bottom coil design...i prefer the warmer vapor of a top coil). like most people, i went from the Vision 2.0 Clearo to the Mini Vivi Nova after a couple weeks...also added a Kanger Protank for those clearo-cracking citrus juices. the Vivi's are incredible. i would recommend Vivi tanks right off the bat, but since they are rebuildable, it takes a true hobbiest to take full advantage of their potential, so you may want to see how you take to the hobby first as they are a little more expensive than the standard clearos. good luck!

It has the outdated and leak prone "tank" system (cartridge+ atomizer). The battery only fires at 3.3 volts and the Kit is overpriced.
The KGO kit1100mAh by SLB that klynnn reco'ed fires at 3.7 volts and is much cheaper. I've got all sorts of PVs and still occasionally use my Kgos. Down the road if you wish to upgrade to a larger APV the Kgo is a nice backup kit.
