New to this whole idea. At first i was going to buy a Blu starter kit, then the multiple bad reviews and generally everything i started doing research. Now i am so confused and boggled i have no idea anymore.

I smoke a pack to a pack and a half a day. I smoke marborhl menthol lights. I like to smoke hands free while playing video games and driving. While at work i smoke two cigs during a smoke break. I think i want both a manual and an automatic battery but im so confused about cart size that i have no idea what to get. If there is any advice that is straight forward to get me started it would be greatly appriciated.8-o I would like to be able to buy a bottle of ejuice to refill my carts when finished instead of prefilled. I still dont get dripping and dipping, seems complicated right now.

Welcome to our humble forum FT

Good decision to skip the blu ecig

There are several ways to go on your first PV. All have their particular strengths and weaknesses.

The 510 is currently the most popular and IMHO here is why: the hotter running atomizer produces a better and more consistent vapor once you get the hang of it. This was my first as it was for many others these days and I absolutely love it for getting me off analogs.

The two piece cartomizer type (KR808) is maybe the simplest option but will cost you slightly more over the long haul buying cartomizers pre-filled (they can be refilled but a pain) If buying pre-filled, then very little hassles but limited flavor options as well.

The 901 is a good ecig that produces a cooler vape than the 510 and thus I personally wouldn't recommend it to someone who is as heavier a smoker as you and menthol to boot: I would suspect you may have trouble finding the throat hit you probably are used to.

Hope this helps and hope you find your way to successfully vaping away your analog habit

Also my morning commute is about 30 mins long, sometimes i drive for about an hour. Is there a cart that can support that amount of time. Usually i smoke about 3 analogs during this commute. Besides these two times, battery changes and cart refilling will be easy.

Our smoking habits sound very similar........my commute also about that although I usually tried to sneak in 4 cigs on the drive.

If I were starting out again with a small "cigarette" style device I would definitely get a passthrough for the drive and cartomizers (they are also available for 510's now....just ordered some today)

With all that said, have you even considered starting out with a little more advanced and perhaps more satisfying device such as an Ego/Tornado? I don't know what your budget is, but I think a person that is vaping mobile all day can actually get setup correctly for low hassle vaping for about the same money with a much more hassle-free device. I realize the kit price is more, but to be mobile with the smaller form factor devices, you really are gonna need more spares, more charge options, a PCC.........admittedly though if budget is primary at this point till you see it working for you, then by all means my recommendation is a 510 with passthrough and cartomizers in the car and a PCC, extra wall charger (if you can use that at work), and at least 1 extra battery (beyond the 2 in the kit)

Hi, welcome to the forum.

When you say "hands free" do you mean the cigarette is between your lips (with one eye squinting against the smoke) and you drag on it without touching it? Just to be clear we're on the same page.

Juice is a real money saver! IMO any e-juice tastes batter than what I used to smoke, and I smoked for many, many, many years. That being said, there's probably not going to be a juice that tastes like what you thought it would taste like. Once you try it you'll discover that it's not ever going to be the same again but it's going to be better. I recommend getting a variety of flavors in different strengths.

dripping/dipping: I'm not there yet. I refill my carts and carry a bottle of juice around with me. I did, however, replace the filling that came in my carts with the blue foam called "Rite size U" that you can get from any pet store that sells aquarium stuff. This only works if you are getting an e-cig with removable carts (not cartomizers) though, so I'm getting ahead of myself.

As for the PV itself: there are two that get recommended for noobs all the time; the 510 or the KR808 (vapor king) both come in either a manual battery or an automatic battery style.

The manual button gives you more control of the performance and is generally recommended 99% of the time. This means, however, that you must use your hands. The automatic battery means that you must take a "primer puff" before each real drag in order to engage the battery, and some say that loud noises or vibrations can cause the battery to engage on its own.

the 510 has a really good atomizer so I think that's why people like them so much. also they are good for "modding" so are seen as a pretty versatile unit. The downside to the 510 is that the battery life is not great at all. One charge only lasts about an hour or so before it needs to be re-charged. Most people get around this by using a PCC (personal charging case-keeps a couple batteries charged when you're on the go) or a PT (passthrough-connects your PV to a source of electricity like your computer, so you don't drain your battery at home).

The KR808 aka vapor king is one that uses cartomizers (atomizer and cart in one) so it only has two pieces. the cartomizers hold more juice than the 510 atty, so you don't need to re-fill as often. On the other hand, you'll need to carry spare pre-filled cartomizers around with you. I don't really know much more than that since I don't own one (yet) I think the battery life is comparable with the 510, but don't quote me.

The other option is a newer product that I haven't seen a lot of reviews on yet, which is the new 510 cartomizer. sounds like the best of both worlds (mine's in the mail, guess I'll find out soon enough)

Hopefully someone with more experience will some along and straighten me out soon - it is kind of late... we'll see. Good Luck!

Hi there Finalthought. Welcome to ECF. See, and all you had to do was ask. Mick, Rosa, and Phenom said it all. Um, I hate to burst your bubble, but with an e-cig, your cig dangling out of your mouth days may be over. With an analog, it's easy, so light. E-cigs are kinda heavy to dangle -- most of the unit is a battery. Well i guess you could clench it between your teeth if you stick the cig about a half-inch farther in your mouth. But if you use a passthrough, that's even heavier plus it has a cord hanging from it. Vaping is different than smoking analogs, so great, so fun, so yummy with all the flavors. You're gonna love it! The 510 is great to start on, but let's face it, you're still in your 20's, you're gonna end up with a high-tech mod -- kind of a guy thing there.

New to the forum..but been vaping for almost a month..have to agree with most of whats said.. I went with the 510 and really like it..Even though you have to press a button with a manual battery I would recommend it over an auto..The button pressing becomes second nature. And you can really control the nice long drag u take..

I do use it in the car..its a little clunky and diff feeling than a cig but u can hold it in ur mouth when u need to have all 10 fingers on ur steering wheel..though its heavy to hold in ur mouth for too long.. When im going to drive I fill up two carts with the blue foam plug mod (u can find more about that on the forum)..and normally I only go through one cart..dont even use the second..(use to smoke up to 4 cigs on the same drive)

Also which has been said yes get a passthrough..so u can vape off ur computer etc and not use batterys..some are as cheap as 15 dollars.. My passthrough broke..so while im waiting for it to be replaced..Im using 4 batteries that im constantly charging and going through..yeah doesnt last long the bats..i really want my passthrough back:)

Also a tip when ur a newbie getting use to ur e-cig..its easy to kill and atty or gunk it up so it doesnt works so well..so I would suggest u might wanna buy a spare in ur order. Good luck..and the best suggestion i can make is keep reading this forum..I learned so much and still have alot to learn.

Also i would like to thank all of you for the advice. I know answering the same questions over and over to noobs can get tiresome. i hope that when i get more into the community of vaping that i can help others as well. It also doesn't help that i did most of the research at work where most sites and pics did not show up.

Yes, You made a great choice. The order looks good. You're going to like Terri & Vicky at Cignot. They're awesome. They're real supporters too, they went to the Springfield House mtg. the other day in Illinois to fight the ban. So with the pyramid tea bags, I guess that means that you like more natural fillers and you like to do it yourself. If you get stuck there are all sorts of videos about pyramid tea bags. I use pyramid tea bags too, but not Lipton. I use the Yogi brand cuz they're all organic and natural. Congrats, job well done. Truthfully dude, you're going to really be amazed. One last word, if you go cold turkey, you should drink a gallon of water everyday -- no lie.

Yes i have tried to quite smoking a few times before in the past, you get really dehydrated and want to fulfill the hand to mouth. Tried the patch it worked at first, i took a break for about 8 months from smoking. Even if i dont quite smoking, this alternative seems a healthier choice than smoking analogs. I can't wait, im really excited to try this all out.

i used the patch a couple of times too. it SUUUUCCCKED! i suffered horribly on the patch and i thought it would be easier to just chop both my hands off so i couldn't hold a cigarette.

Well these days you don't always get this "hotter running atomizer" when you buy a '510' as there are many sold that are not made by Joye. And reading numerous posts you can see that there is quite a backlash concerning Joye hotter running atties with many folks preferring the higher ohm, cooler running semi-clone varieties. This also explains why '510' discussions can be so contradictory at times. Folks aren't talking about the same device.
