Howdy OG Mini lovers,
I have (2) OG minis that have been with me a VERY long time (circa early 2011) and they've seen LR510s and Hornets for most of there lives. I find that some of my RM2s are new enough that they do fit the catch cups but was wondering if the OG Mini's width changed over the years as my door is blocked from moving up much by the base of the RM2. Hopefully someone in this thread will know if this is normal. I don't find it a showstopper at all but just wondered if the later Mini 1.0s got a bit wider allowing full range of motion with the RM2. Very cool that Rob is considering another run.

He got me a purple one oh so many years ago to help get my lil sis to jump onto the vaping bandwagon. SHE LOVES PURPLE!! She saw that purple beauty and on to vapor she went....She's been analog free for over about 3 years now. Oh and thanks in advance for any help you all might offer. :toast: Brew

Hi Brew,
The OG minis like yours it's normal that the door won't slide all the up with an RM2 just down. The newer minis 2.0 /2.1 are wider to take the 18490 battery. Same width as a regular grand. The slimness of the OG mini is much more compact and not being able to slide the door up all the way is an acceptable trade off in my opinion.:)

The RM2 just barely fits. All of mine, the door have hit the RM2. It just depended on how much play was in the door if it would slide on past or not. The mini that I think was the oldest I've had, a nickel one, had a catch cup slightly smaller than the rest, only one RM2 of my 3 would fit it. I think it was the one I got with it.

Thanks for all the replies. I do stay semi informed but didn't remember if there was a subtle change in the OG minis. I've had every mod style the man has made in metal and a few Woodies as well but my "keep it clean" OCD precludes me from keeping the Woodies shy of one lone cocobolo Mini 2.1. That one hasn't needed much upkeep and still just rocks with a Brass RM2. I wouldn't even think about a brass mini or I'd spend the rest of my days going out to buy more Brasso :D. Brew

Very interesting :)

I'm hoping that the LP version would take a 14mm attie - that is the smallest size I have and I have a couple looking for a good home:?:

I've got a Grand and an 18490 mini and I'd have to say the mini gets the most use - it fits so nicely in my hand and my shirt pocket, so a 14500 version would be a great addition!

A 14mm should fit an LP just fine and even be able to raise the door. The RM2 is 16mm and is about the limit of being able to raise the door.

It will be at least 6 weeks before the 14500 mini mods are ready
Great news Rob! Really looking forward to seeing these come to life. I know they are not for everyone, but in some ways, I feel that the 14500 mini is just a perfect mod. So tiny, yet so capable. I am just amazed at how well the two that I currently have perform. I can't wait to get my hands on a brandy new one :)
