Here and back
The mods are any American made larger battery unit. They last all day, give more hit and everyone seems to eventually get there. Look at the forums for the mod section. Prodigy V2, NHaler, Carlos 49 (Juice Box), The Chuck, Janty, the list goes on and on. Your head will spin but a little research and you're done. The standard e cig is good when you're "out with friends", it's a little more conservative and better in "polite company".

Hello Tom and welcome to ECF! I am a newbie as well but here are my two cents after spending many, many, many hours on the forum reading!

It seems that most will start with the Joye 510. The 510 is a 3 piece. A great website to purchase this ecig is Cignot. Their prices on starter kits can't be beat, customer service is terrific and fast shipping. The other favorite for newbies is the Vapor King, this is a 2 piece, from Vapor4Life. Another great website, great customer service and a fast shipper as well. It seems both these models have great vapor and a good throat hit which is what I was looking for. I have been a smoker for 34 years, about 1.5 - 2 packs a day full strength menthol and sometimes more. You can also see reviews for all of the different models on this forum and you should read that and watch the videos.

I opted to start with at least 26 mg of nictoine cartridge. The nicotine level is something that seems to be a road of discovery for everyone. I have read where heavy smoker's are only using 18mg and some are looking for more than 36mg. Others will use a high nicotine level for their first am vapes and then use a lower nic level for the rest of the day. So, that will be an area that you might have to experiment with a little more to find what is right for you. Just be sure that when you order your first PV, that you get some ejuice with it that will last you for a little bit so you can test it out and have time to place and recieve your next order. You don't want to run out and go back to the analogs! For ejuice, just my suggestion, Vapor4Life, My Freedom Smokes, Ms T's Bakery Essentials and there are a ton more. Also check out Sponsoring Suppliers at the top of the forum.

Good Luck Tom an let us know when you place your first order!

Hey everybody. I'm trying to quit smoking cigs and want to go the ecig route. There are so many brands out there though that I don't know what to buy. I am a pack a day smoker (Marlboro Lights) for 19 years.

Any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance. -Tom

I was a pack a day smoker (newports) for the last 5 years and smoking for about 15 years.

I haven't touched an analog since since I bought my 901 and 510, so I had two atomizers and three batteries, one that I knew would last a good long time if I'm out, and is manual to preserve the battery.

The tricks is to always have your batteries charged or charging, and have a bunch of carts. As many as you can afford, so you don't run out.

Good luck!!

A mod is an ecig that, instead of using a special battery, has a part that holds a 14500 lithium battery usually. That battery, aside from being less expensive, holds a charge for a very long time (over a day for most people). It eliminates having to carry a lot of batteries or pcc or passthroughs. A regular battery lasts maybe an hour. The aesthetics of an ecig looking like a cigarette is basically for people looking at you. The inhale exhale is the same but better with a mod. Some mods to look at are the DSE 905V3 and Joye Stick.

I just bought the Silver Bullet by Altsmoke. There are reviews everywhere on this mod and they all say the same. The SB rocks! That said, go look at reviews & pick the one with consistently good reviews and that fits you best.

My Silver Bullet was $99. I checked some, not all, prices and found most decent mods are between $80 & $150. Few on the high end, most in the $80 - $120 range. A well built mod, such as the SB, Chuck etc, etc will last you a very long time.

A carton of analogs is... call it $50. For me that's $10-$15/day. No matter what mod you buy or how much you spend on it, it won't be long before you're ahead of what you would have spent on analogs.

Mods can cost anywhere from $75 to way over $100, but they use removable rechargeable batteries and are built sturdy. The stock batteries with the kits are rechargeable, but have to be replaced frequently and will give you problems if you drop them. I use a mod with an adapter so I can vape my 801 attys. I got tired of buying the stock batteries and having to use 3 to 6 a day. With the mod my battery lasts me all day, and I do mean all day. Yesterday I started with a fully charged 18650 battery at 6am. Had to put in a new battery at 11:30pm.

Mine are 2600mah UltraFire (red) protected 3.7v. I used to consider myself moderate. Yesterday I was moderate until I got home from work. Then I went into heavy mode. Easy to do when you don't have to empty ashtrays or go outside. Did I mention I LOVE my Silver Bullet?

ETA: Should add, today I've been vaping heavy all day. My battery only lasted about 11 hours. Had to change it a little while ago. Still way longer than the stock batteries.

OK, so after cosidering all your input (thanks everybody) and researching all night, reading posts, blogs, and watching about 40 or so video reviews I went ahead and ordered the 510, a bunch of carts, and liquid... the pcc came in the kit and I got extra atomizers and the car charger usb thing. I figure I'll see how this goes and then consider the battery mod. Thanks again to everyone who helped!
