Hey there,

So, it looks like I might be in the process of getting a new atty. I have been and continue to be in love with the Origen 16’s for the flavor, air flow options and easy single coil buildability (is that a word?). I have 3 that are in daily use, generally with air flow at max and a wide bore DT. I also have a Challice 3 which is also amazing in the flavor department but I’ve gotten more into DLH (or close to it). The Challice 3 is just too restrictive for me. My knee jerk reaction is to find another O-16 but since I’m not a stock-piler (new word) of all things vaping and I typically buy authentics, I wanted to put it out there for ideas. Love to ponder....

Thanks @puffon. Gonna do some research! It is nice looking for sure. I like the air flow choices. Certainly a larger building deck. Do you know how it compares with an O-16 in terms of flavor?

Haven't used the o-16 in awhile but I would say it's comparable. It's tough to beat the small size chamber of the o-16 tho.

Hmmmm....been pondering the Chalice 4 idea. The more I think about having a little bigger deck, I’m willing to try. Perhaps I’m ready to try something in the 18 arena. Years ago I tried ummm can't remember which one...perhaps the Odem (?) which was 22 (?) and it just didn’t have enough flavor (for me). I have a Chalice 3 and while the flavor is fabulous, the draw is just too tight for me now.
Has anyone tried both the Chalice 3 & 4? Impressions? Or any thought about another 18ish BF atty I should check out? Still adore my O-16’s all day, just feeling adventuresome.... haha

I have both the Chalice III, and IV; I waaaaaay prefer the III. BUT...I really prefer less air and mostly MTL vaping. I have been a Chalice gal since I was on the waiting list for the very first Chalice back in 2011? 2012? and to me they are just the best of the best. The precision metal work, the size, the draw, everything. So when I knew the Chalice IV was out, I had high expectations. When I was ordering, I didn’t even pay attention to the size....it looked like a Chalice, only I noticed the bigger slit instead of traditional air holes and thought that was a nice upgrade. o_O (I didn’t even bother to read the description, let alone reviews before I bought it. Ha. My bad.)

    It came.

For one thing, it’s BIG to me....(I pretty much prefer 14mm all the way) and it’s HEAVY, but here’s the the main reason I’m not a big fan.....the top is held on with an o-ring instead of screwing on. The best thing about the Chalices (to me) is that they screw together. Precision tooling. It is awesome. I know everybody’s used to the o-ring.....OL-16 and all the rest, but I’ve preferred screw on lids.....ever since the beginning. It’s why I loved the RM2. The Chalice was the epitome of excellent craftsmanship. Until Chalice IV. It almost feels like Mark Bugs sorta started taking shortcuts. I was disappointed....

I did use it for a few days, but never got it to where I wanted it, and I missed the III so just abandoned ship. It was too airy for me. But that’s just me.

So....that’s my take on the Chalice IV. But like I said in the beginning, I’m a MTL vaper and the Chalice III is my perfect RBA. I’ve quit trying to improve on it. Instead, I’ve stocked up. ;)

Based on what I know about your vaping style, you might want to consider a narda. 22mm on the outside, but with a reduced chamber. Very good flavour and nice air options.

If you want something out of the ordinary, mebbee try a bf shift. Super flavour - really exceptional. Never, ever leaks.

Wasp also comes to mind if you just want to dip your toe into something new without a big $$ outlay.

I personally did not like the Narda; thought it was a pain to build and wick but that’s just my opinion.
Why was tricky about it? Although I used to like to futz around more than I do now, I’ve never been that great at it if truth be told. Haha. Perhaps I’m just a sloth. No harm intended @Sloth Tonight :) I did find out that they are made here in Cal though...

I just didn’t like the way you have to build a coil it was hard to get a jig in there to center the coil and it was kind of a tight space for me which is weird considering I build on 14mm attys all day long. Dunno I just didn’t like it.

I have been using the Narda with mixed results for about 1 year+. Very recently I put in a parallel 28G SS coil, 3 mm i.d. .36 ohms.

Made a big positive difference, feels like a different RDA. Lots of thick vapor even with small puffs.

Another vote for the Wasp - $14.48 YFTK Hellfire Styled RDA Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer - stainless steel / 14mm diameter at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping my fave mtl RDA. no screw top but tight rings.

I think the air could do restricted lung hit but I felt like I lost some flavor when I opened it up.

It takes some thinking to get tuned, to be sure, but I found it to be second nature by the 3rd or 4th coil. Also, I use a longer jig, which helps (and works out perfectly for the height of the coil I like in this atty).

Here’s a long ocverdue update on my new NaRDA atty thanks to @Vapefiend and @JC Okie PIF trick!

No one would ever say that I was good at tinkering but I do like it! Today I had time to put in a 28 SS single 2.5 coil ( around .6) which is the exact match to the coil that I use in my O-16 PLUS I used the same eliquid (yes, I’m a true scientist at heart. Hahaha). To my utter surprise, I’m liking the NaRDA’s flavor perhaps even more than the O-16 right now ( and the O-16’s have been my favorite for a LONG time...since they came out). I’ve got the airflow 1/2 way opened.

Now the build wasn’t easy, but then again, time will tell if it gets easier as I practice more. Nd did I mention that I’m not a great tinkerer? Haha Dang, I love the forgiving nature of SS wire!

Anyway, I’ll keep you posted and thank you from the bottom of my heart @Vapefiend and @JC Okie! Hugs all around.
