I have only been vaping for 3 weeks. When I bought my eGoC, it came with extra atomizers. I also bought a ce4 clearomizers. Last night I started getting a little burnt taste in the clearomizer so I thought, based on what I've read, it might be time to give it a good cleaning. I watched a couple of videos, cleaned everything, took a shot of vodka then poured a shot for my clearomizer and let it soak for about half an hour. Blew everything out, did a dry burn & was careful to watch that I didn't get a white burn. Put my juice in, took a few puffs, like brand new, great flavor, lots of vapes. Actually, I think it was better than new. So happy. :)

This morning, puffed it as I normally would for a few hours then started noticing the burnt taste again. Sad :(

watched more videos, pulled out a new coil set, prepped it, put it all together, still tastes burnt even after puffing for a while. :( took the new one apart, did the vodka soak, too early for me to take a shot, let it sit for a while, put it all back together, dry burn, still yucky.

Decided to try the original eGoC set up with the cone, atomizer & rubbery mouthpiece/tank-in-one thingy, cleaned the gunk out if it, primed it, etc.. It's yucky too. The clearomizer tastes like burnt plastic, the cone set up tastes like burnt pennies.

Ive gone through everything I did last night and compared it to this morning. It's all the same except this morning, I didn't take my shot of vodka. I seriously doubt if this is truly the problem. Help. I have two nasty tasting PVs and need a nice vape badly.

Edit: oh, and the juice is exactly the same, from the same bottle.

It may be possible you "over cooked" the atty's by dry burning them. I have done this many times, as I can't get the hang of dry burning down. Every time I dry burn, I fry them or pop them. I quit doing dry burns. How long did you let the atty's soak? With the clearo, if it has a top wick, you have to let the juice soak into the wick by holding it upside down for a few minutes. Then after about 6-10 puffs, hold it upside down again to let it re-wick.

Here's how I clean my eGo-c atty's: I let them soak in vodka for a few hours or longer depending on how long it's been since it's last cleaning.
Then I rinse them with hot water (distilled seems to work better), blow them out real good, let them dry for a few hours, drop some juice into the wick, let it soak for a few minutes, then, put the cone back together, put the tank in, and vape. I should also mention it would be a good idea to rinse out the tank as well. Rinse it, blow through it, then either let it air dry or use a napkin twrilled into a shape to dry the inside of the tank.

To clean the clearo's: I have a Kanger T2 with replaceable coils (top coil) so I take off the mouthpiece, rinse it with warm water, dump out any remaining juice in the clearo, take out the coil/wick, soak it vodka for a while. Then fill the clearo with warm water about half way, shake then dump out the water. If you get water in the tube, just blow through it and then let the clearo dry for a while. Once it's dry, I usually just use a new coil/wick. If not, I just rinse it with warm water, let it dry for a few hours, and use that one.

If you decide to dry burn, make sure after the dry burn, you rinse out the atty again, this removes all the ash that was burnt off.

When i use a new atty i get a burned taste all the time through. My solution (an advice from a Dutch ecig company) is to push down the wick a little with a toothpick or something. Only about 1mm, not more. After that it tastes good. Maybe this helps with the EGO-C atty.

I have the same clearos as you have but i don't have that problem with them. I clean them simply by running them under hot tap water, dry them off, dry burn until i see the coil glowing orange (two times). Then fill it up and go ahead. I don't use vodka or anything (except for myself :)).

I totally forgot about pushing down the wick. That works too:)

For the standard ego c setup, I just give it a few priming puffs (no button pushing) and fire it up. I found that I often didn't have my juice flow right, so the atty just needed a little more for a decent flavor. The burnt taste would linger a bit, but quickly fade (about three drags after reintroducing flow with the priming puffs). YMMV.

Not sure what I did to those two attys. they are still soaking in the vodka. I'm going to leave them overnight. I got a completely fresh atty for my cone, fresh juice (didn't do anything except blow it out) and vape. Works fine, taste is a little off but that could be my taste buds now. Got a completely fresh clearomizer(everything new) blew it out, filled it, let it sit for 20 minutes, works fine. Taste is a little off on this one too but not nearly as bad as previous attempts earlier today. My husband says I may have to clean my own palette to completely get rid of the foul taste.

I will try one of the nasty attys tomorrow and see how it is after soaking overnight in the vodka. Thanks for all the help everybody. I'll let you know what I come up with tomorrow :)

Ok...Brushed my teeth, mouthwash, ate dinner, drank water, drank tea...
Then I went digging through my stash and came up with an brand new cartomizer for my skinny 510 PV. I put my trusty cinnamon in it and put it on my skinny 510 PV and vaped. Perfect. Unscrewed it and put it on my eGo-C regular battery and pass through battery. Perfect.

New cinnamon in old clearomizer with new atty... Burnt. Bleeecccchhh.

So, can I be right in assuming that if a have a new atty in my CE4 clearomizer and I still have the burnt taste that it may be holding in the plastic of the clearomizer or mouthpiece?

Whats with all the dry burning? Totally unnecesary, and will ruin vendor purchased items. Cearomizers, and atty's have a small silica wick running through the coils, and unless you debridge and dewick the atomizer, everytime you "dry burn" your junk you are frying the silica. It will never taste good again. Sometimes we overdo it. To effectively clean an atomizer, pull it off and blow through it with your mouth with firm pressure. Clearo's just plain suck, they are dry and scratchy in my opinion uness you leave them perched upside down while not in use, and do some constant tipping while in use. i also think if they get to much dry burn it affects the wicking, and they will never work well again. Boge LR cartos are cheap and work very well for a no hassle vaping experience. You can get a tank for them at various retailers, and some even sell them punched, check it out. there are also a ton of Low resistance DCtank cart setups at super cheap that have replaceable carto's. Unless you enjoy fiddling, stay away from the advanced stuff until you learn more about the function of the gear. Good luck.

I think you are right about the dry burn. The fresh atty that I put in the clearomizer this afternoon, I didn't dry burn it at all. I just blew it out, juiced it, let it soak and then tried it several times and it still tastes funky. That's why I was wondering of it might be holding the burnt smell/taste in the plastic of the clearomizer tank. ?

Just a wild guess but cinnamon is acidic and may be "eating" the plastic tube. Were the other juices non acidic?

Cinnamon is the only thing I really like right now. I have also tried rum & coke, cherry, grape, strawberry, watermelon, cappaccino, dbl chocolate, vanilla something or other, two hump tobacco and menthol....and a combination of the tobacco menthol.

Didn't like at all: rum&coke, dbl chocolate, cappaccino, vanilla stuff - none ever in the clearomizer
Strawberry, grape, watermelon are almost flavorless to me. Only the grape was ever in the clearomizer for about 5 minutes.
Menthol, tobacco & cherry are ok - only the tobacco has been in the clearomizer a couple of days.
Cinnamon, similar to Big Red chewing gum, has been in it for the last two weeks steady, no leaking.

"When" I was vaping acidic juices, because of cracking issues with the old clearomizers, I was vaping them in a carto. As stated I no longer vape them as I was concerned about the acidity. Not preaching, just explaining.

You can try the vinegar & baking soda on them, the reaction cleans them pretty good, and the baking soda usually takes care of the bad taste.

A similar problem used to happen to me when i used my eGo-C. i suddently got a bad taste of it, the vinegar & baking soda solved it the first times, but eventually it dint go away untill i replaced the atty, the tank, and washed the cone with vodka.

Then i had some problems with my 510 atties as well, the vinegar & baking soda cleaning worked fine here too.

Eventually i got tired of messing arround with wicks, dry burning, washing, bad/funny taste, leaking, etc, etc, etc. And started using only cartomizers. And i have been a very happy vaper since then. No more washing, cleaning, fiddling, and fancy cleaning poisons. I just use my cartomizers untill they start tasting funny (about 20 ~ 30 ml of juice thru each), and when they do start acting/tasting weird, they go into the garbage can and i open up a new one.

In my opinion, tanks, atties, clearos, and all those fancy gadgets are fine if you have the will & patience to fiddle with them, but if you want a nice & simple "just vape" experience, with little or no hassle, cartomizers are the way to go.

Oh no... Not taking this as preachy at all from anybody. I'm just trying to figure out what happened. I'm still new to all of this and learning. I still need to do a lot of juice sampling to find something other than cinnamon that I like. But until then, I suppose the cinnamon will always stay in the throw away carts. I will probably have to pitch the clearomizer. I did notice this week that it looked a little hazy even when completely clean. Dang cinnamon.

Yes that's the cinnamon etching the plastic. I know what you mean...I had some Key Lime that I would kill for and gave it up. Another workaround would be to either get a glass tank to use with a carto or a metal shield for the Vivi Nova.
Good Luck.

Hi sharon... I feel your pain ...I'm still experimenting with cartomizers, clearomizers, atty, dripping, different batteries, and hundreds of juices
I've been lucky with my vision stardust (type) 1.6 ml clearomizers. I soak, dry burn, re-rinse and they are like new. Not sure why some people have problems with that. I have several that I've been using -reusing for more than 4 months...some I broke because of user-error LOL. I have one clearo that I vaped a lemon jucie in and NO amount of cleaning and dryburning took the lemon away  I've not tried cinnamon yet, but have bought a bunch of DIY stuff including cinnamon red hot which I have not sampled yet....but I'm guessing it will create a burned taste whenever I get around to trying it because of the nature of the beast, (by reading other threads where people have problems with cin and red-hot juices.)
Regarding tastebuds...I find that what I'm vaping is directly effected by what I'm drinking at the tme, from water, coffee, soda, alcoholic drinks, etc...each changing the "taste" of what I'm vaping. Crazy! Sometimes I just swish cola around my mouth before I swallow and my tastebuds are like new.
Vaping is fun yet frustrating at times.
Good luck!

I always washed my attys in clear water. Soaking them overnight and blowing from the battery connection makes the trick. Depending on the clearo I hate that eGo Vision has a plastic cap. That should be removed when dry burning. Just a second, not more, but I prefer to have several and rotate them, so one is always dry and ready to go.
