AARRRGGGGHHH!!!!

OK, a file search found this on my computer:

C:\Users\Denise\AppData\Roaming\JuiceCalculator\DefaultOptions.xml

With a modified date of yesterday. This must be it. But when I go to the program and open, I go to c:\users\denise and there is no app data folder listed. There is a lock icon showing on the Denise folder, does that mean it is not showing everything? And how do I make it show me what is hidden?

That is not the juice file. It is the file where the "options" are stored. The calculator automatically opens that file each time it starts.

Hotrod - your latest build FUBARd my Taskbar!

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1.

I was in your juice calculator and I saw your new version so I downloaded it. I exited your calculator then installed the 4.0.0.4. When I clicked Finish to run the new version, all of the icons on my taskbar disappeared except the 4 programs which were active. They stayed on the taskbar. I thought if I rebooted, the programs would return on my taskbar but when I came back up they were gone, except for 2 programs that load at boot. So now I'm trying to recreate all the programs I had pinned to my taskbar.

Do you need to know anything else about my system?

Wow. There is nothing that the calculator does that could affect items such as the taskbar and pinned icons on the taskbar.
I will uninstall and reinstall on my windows 8 PC and will also install on my wife's windows 7 premium PC to see if I can create your symptoms.

I was doing nothing else unusual. I had Google Chrome with email up and ecf, Bittorrent, and Windows Explorer.

Also, when I had tried a Restart, nothing happened. Usually it comes back pretty quick to start closing programs but nothing. So I clicked Shutdown and nothing. After a minute or so, I unplugged and then started back up.

Everything else seems fine. I didn't lose my associations. All other programs come up ok.

Never had my taskbar go belly up before.

The sequence - I hit Finish, the icons disappeared, then your new version came up.

I installed on four different systems, laptop with Windows 7, desktop with Windows 7, tablet with Window 8.1 and desktop with Windows 8.1 and there were no issues and I was unable to make the symptoms you seen occur.

Why Bill Gates? C'mon, give the guy a break. All he's done since 2000 is try to cure malaria..

As far as hardware vs. software, I find it the opposite, rowdyplace. With software, there's always something to tweak and fix, but with hardware...things just break sometimes, and that's that.

devilchasnme, I have had that happen to me before. Not with this program, but others. It's only happened once to me, but I can't imagine that the program has anything to do with it - the software sits in its space, and unless there're commands to specifically do that, there's no way it could even touch the pinned apps. You've got a Windows problem of some sort.

Ok. I guess I had a bit in the wrong byte somewhere. No biggie. Thanks for trying to recreate it.

Yeah, everything's good. Thanks.

This looks like a great calculator! I really like the feature that I can specify my default working directory and backup directory. I relocated them to a google drive folder so I can access the same .xml file across multiple computers. I do have one suggestion though; is there any reason why "backup options" can't just be a tab in the main options dialog?

No reason it is separate and I will relocate the backup options.
I do the same as you, I use Skydrive/Onedrive to store my files so they are available on multiple machines

I use OneDrive to back up a ton of my config files, HotRod :) It's a really great service, and I get 120GB free because I'm a Microsoft employee. Have you installed the shell extension so you can right click on a folder and sync it with OneDrive?

Yes I have the shell installed on my Windows 7 machine. What I really like is the built in integration with Windows 8 and the automatic syncing of folders stored on OneDrive. It makes it very simple to share folders between my multiple Windows 8 machines.

Hey Hotrod - I got involved with that losing-icons on my taskbar thing but I wanted to get back to you because since then I have made a couple batches on my scale using the calculator and I like that change you made (that I suggested) about Reduce/Increase Inventory. That is nice! and I know that something happens now when I click that button.

Also, you made a change to File-Open and added that Open Recent. I was going to suggest something like that but I saw you had already added that in your new version so I downloaded... then lost my icons!

Anyway, great changes and now that I'm really using it with my scale, I'm appreciating all the work you've put into it. Thanks!
