The percentages listed in "Search for recipes" seem inaccurate, or my understanding is flawed.

For example, in Edit > Search for recipes, I checkmark "FA Cookie" and click "Search." The result says:
"20.00% of recipe ingredients in searched ingredients: Deeks Berry Custard"

But Deeks Berry Custard uses 0.5% FA Cookie, with 16% total flavoring. So FA Cookie isn't 20% of that recipes flavorings. It's more like 3%.

I don't see where FA Cookie is 20% of anything. Other searches have similar results. What am I missing?
Hi Diyguy,
The Search Recipes window is telling you that your search fo FA Cookie is one of five flavors the Deek's Berry Custard calls for (1/5 or 20% of number of ingredients). It does not count PG/VG/Nic. A recipe calling for two flavors would show as 50%, 10 flavors would be 10% and so on. It is not a reference to the amount of searched flavor used in the recipe.
Hope that helps :D

Warning when making Flavor Base:

When I make a flavor base recipe from a recipe who's ingredients include cost for each ingredient, I get a warning that "Cost/ml was not provided for all ingredients". I don't understand how this could be possible considering all ingredients do in fact include cost/ml info?

When perform the calculations manually, my cost is almost exactly the same so it seems juice Calc is calculating all ingredients correctly.

In the ingredient editor Is there a reason we have to enter a % to the value when editing "Default %", "PG %" and "VG %" fields? Seems like tabbing or clicking off the field should default to % instead of stopping with red error.

The currency-denominated fields know to add $ symbols when tabbing off them.

BTW, it's running beautifully under WINE 1.9.4.

Great tool! But I seem to have found a small glitch...

If you enter an amount for PG or VG in ounces, it seems to throw off the cost per bottle by a huge amount! Basically I entered 16 oz of VG for $10.00 and 16 oz of PG for $3.50. Recipe was for 20 ml of juice at 40/60 PG/VG. The other ingediant a were entered as ml, and we're about $3.25 for 60 ml and recipe used 4 flavored plus 3mg nic target. Manual calc figured about 93 cents a bottle but the calculator showed $8.50!!!

Changing the ingediants PG and VG amount to be ml instead of oz gave the much lower cost per bottle I expected.

But I am new to DIY stuff, and my senior moments sometimes conflict with understanding new things. Regardless, I still have made good use of this calculator to make my first batch of juice!

Thanks!

Been using only this calc for quite a long time. Nothing else close to this one. I am having an issue that I hope can be resolved. I recently installed the calc onto a hp netbook running win 7.
Calc works fine but the bottom of the notes/results/warnings window get trunciated just below the cost line. The comp has a max resolution of 1024x576. This may be the reason but I haven't had this problem with any other software. I searched the help file and found that changes were made in version 2.1... to prevent cutting off buttons on low res screens and wondered if this problem is fixable either in the software itself or by running some compatability mode or something. I don't use this comp for anything else and it is perfect for my juice mixing station. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hotrod, I have been an avid user for about 2 years now and believe this is the best juice calculator out there. Thank you for all of your efforts.

Issue, every time I open the calculator I get the notice that a new version is available. I have always accepted this option and installed the latest version. However, I am now having an install issue. I get the following message and don't know why. Any suggestion? Thanks.

just found your calculator and loving it, best calculator i've seen and i've been mixing for about a year, great job, any chance of including things like the brother ql-570 label printer into the print options, if this was included it would be the icing on the cake, lol, I would have no problems in paying for this as it would be an all in one solution for me, thanks and keep up the good work

Just started using this calculator and it is far and away the best I have used. I have been running into some issues with loosing recipes and ingredients that I spent a lot of time entering. Just wondering why sometimes when I start a new recipe I can only access it by first loading the last recipe that I worked on before I started the new one? Also any plans for an android version that will sync with our phones? Again you do awesome work!

I will look into this, it sounds like I may have overlooked something when I added the ability to enter quantities using different measurements.

I believe this is being triggered by a misunderstanding that you may have about how recipes are stored. The calculator uses a single file to store all of your recipes and ingredients. Each recipe in the file will be listed in the "Recipes" dropdown list on the main recipe window.

I believe that you are creating a recipe and then doing a "File->Save as" and providing the new recipe name. You should do a "File->Save as" and provide a name such as "All of my recipes". Each time you create (or update) a recipe you should click the "Save" icon or do a "File->Save", not a "File Save as".

The error message that you are getting is coming from the Windows installer. This error usually starts occurring when you have a failed installation of another application. After the failure you will receive the error for any program that you attempt to install using the Windows installer. Here are a couple of links that might help resolve the error:

Error 1500 "Another Installation is in Progress you must complete the installation before continuing this one" when trying to down load a program always appears. Cannot complete the download

Assorted Topics: Fix for Windows Error 1500: Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one.

Could you PM or email me a screen shot of what the window looks like when it is being truncated? This will help me determine what I need to do to resolve the issue.

I am doing some research on the printer and how to print to it. This will be a tough one for me to test since I don't have the specific printer. I will follow up with you when I have something to test with but I will have to lean on you to test the printing.
