Suggestion for the developers to make it default to the c:\documents and setting\ xx\my documents and let the savvy users select a proffered default. Just a suggestion. :2c::2c::2c::2c::2c:
The program does default to the users documents folder when installed however the op stated that they are running the portable version of the calculator. The portable version can be run by multiple users on the same PC or from multiple PCs and the default directory on one PC may not exist on another PC. I believe that is what happened. It was originally set to the default value and then either the user or the PC they are running it from changed.

About the latest version: love the import feature. Maybe an idea to further improve this:
Besides the option of a textfile, give the option of a popup box (similar to the Notes box) where we can paste the simple text recipe. Saves me (and maybe others as well) the extra step of copy/paste in a text file, saving it and then importing it.

Speaking of the Notes field, could you add an option so that the url that is in the simple text recipe (after the name of the recipe) is put in the notes field?
Both of these changes have been added and will be in the next version.

When do you plan on the next version being available? Should I wait so no need to upgrade? From what I see with how you support your software so far I better not blink or the new version will be ready and available for download!
The program has an auto-update feature. When new versions are available it will tell you that one is available when you launch the program. When it informs you it will ask if you want to install it.

I can't begin to count the ways this calculator has helped my juice mixing. The only thing that it doesn't keep track of for me is where the flavor I want is. I now spend 3 times as much time looking for the flavors I need than actually mixing. This was frustrating and I finally had enough. I bought a wooden box and made dividers. It has a matrix of 8x12. For a total of 96 flavors. I currently have about 140 flavors so I need to make another one. I printed a list of the flavors with location from A1 to H12 and fastened it to the lid. That made it easy to find the flavors by scanning through for each one called for. Then I realized that the location should be in the recipe. There was no spot for it so I manually added it to the flavor names. Importing recipes is going to create more work now to find and replace the duplicate flavors. What I would love to see is a location field next to the ingredient field and stored in the ingredient part of the database.
Adding new fields for an ingredient is not a problem but the problem is when and where is the value displayed. The main recipe window is already displaying a lot of data and there isn't room to display another field.

Sorry, I've been traveling... attached is what I see when looking at the current inventory (notice the remaining/threshold/alarm values):

Would it not be possible to add a additional option to the View-Display ingredient/manufacturer as: menu item EG: Display IngredientName (ManufacturerName) (LOC). And add the LOC field on the ingredients add or update screen. That way location on the main screen is with the flavor name if user has entered one and takes no space if that field is blank. Actually maybe the additional view display option wouldn't be necessary if the LOC was appended to the ingredient name if exists. Hope this makes sense cuz it is a bit wordy.
LOL

I see where this display is misleading. I have made a change; if the "Threshold" is 0, the "Alarm value" will be 0. Otherwise the "Alarm Value" will display the value that will be used to trigger the inventory alarm for the ingredient.

Thanks, sorry to have been a bother... love the new import you added for a txt file

Version 7.0.0.5 is available for download. Changes include:

1. When importing from a text file the URL will be added to the notes.

2. Added the ability to paste text from the clipboard into a text box and import the text into the calculator, Tools-->Import from text file-->Import pasted text.

3. When displaying the current inventory the "Alarm value" was not showing a proper value when the "Threshold" was set to 0. Fixed.

4. Added a "Storage location" field to the ingredient window.

5. Added a new menu item "View-->Display Ingredient/Manufacturer as-->Display ingredient location with name". If checked, the ingredient location will always be appended to the name of the ingredient when displayed. It will be displayed as "Ingredient name (ingredient location)".

HotRod, is there a way to allow the program window to scale automatically based on user display settings. I am still having an issue with the notes section being pushed off the bottom of my display in miimize mode. Displays fine when maximized. I am using windows 10 on an ACER laptop mirrored to a 47 inch TV.
Try this; launch the program and don't maximize. Size the window and drag it to a location on your display so that the entire window shows. Now close the application. When you re-launch the program it should remember the last size and location of the window. See if that resolves the issue you are having.

Got a few more, but these are a bit more difficult ;)
Situation 1: When importing a recipe (yup, I really love that feature), sometimes the ingredient name isn't exactly like the one I have in the database. Now the program assumes that it is a new ingredient although that isn't the case.
Possible solution: when an ingredient isn't found, display an intermediary window with a drop down for each non recognized ingredient. First line is "create new ingredient", the rest is a list of the current ingredients.
Result: if you want all of the non recognized ingredients to be created, just click next (so only 1 extra click compared to now), but if you want to change it, you can select the existing ingredient in the dropdown and then click next (saves a lot of clicks: changing the recipe to contain the wanted ingredient, delete the newly created ingredient, stress relief vape :smokie:)

Situation 2: When importing a recipe (see the trend here? :D) the nicotine base is always empty.
Wanted solution: Would it be possible to set a default nicotine base (maybe in options) that will be assigned when importing a recipe?

Situation 3: I also like the custom reports feature and have created one for individual recipes. In that template I have the following at the end:
Recipe notes: «RecipeNotes»
«IngName1» «IngNotes1»

The problem here is that blank values are also printed.
Wanted solution: If a field doesn't contain a value, don't print it as a line in the report. So the recipe notes value is empty, don't print it. Ingredient without notes, don't print it.

Possible bug: when looking at the recipe history, several recipes have multiple entries for last made, all of them at the same date. How is the date added to this list?

I will have to give this some thought. When you have to prompt for several items it slows down the import process. If too many windows are being opened it defeats the advantages of importing, it could be quicker to manually enter the recipe.

I believe there is already a solution to this. Go into "Tools->Options", the "Recipe defaults" tab and provide a default value for "Target Nicotine mg", "PG Percentage" and "VG Percentage". When importing it will use these values.

Recipe notes: «RecipeNotes»

This is a tough one. The "Custom reports" is using a Word Merge feature. Word Merge is setting un-provided values to blanks. I will look into this but I don't have much hope to providing a solution.
Possible bug: when looking at the recipe history, several recipes have multiple entries for last made, all of them at the same date. How is the date added to this list?
I need to do some research. I see the problem that you are referring to.
