3.1 you have to enter % in addition to the numbers on the first 3 fields and since just % is allowed and it would be faster if you just had to enter the number -> tab.
You are correct that the Ingredient Editor has some idiosyncrasies. When HotRod originally started to develop this program, he did not intend the editor to be an end-user component, for it is indeed the heart and soul of your ingredient file (and an inexperienced user can quickly corrupt his/her ingredients and recipes if they don't know what they are doing). Instead, using the Juice Calculator as a "skin" or interface, have the end-user populate it via the "Ingredient" tab and corresponding window.
But, somewhere along the development, he decided to give us access directly to it.
I personally ony use it to "view" ingredients, and not to add, or adjust, ingredients. It can be helpful when I want to see what flavors I have by a particular vendor, or if I want to find a particular flavor but cant remember how I named it ("I know I have an Flavor Art strawberry but it isn't with my srawberries." go to ingredient editor, sort by manufacturer, and there it is... "Ah ha! I have it listed as Red Touch!").
But when I want to add, change, adjust, or delete an ingredient... I do it through the Ingredient tab. It will have the warnings and cautions that I am about to mess up my recipes and such that the Ingredient Editor doesn't offer.
3.2 T and so on won´t work there on date
Correct. This is some that HodRod only added last June(?). And then he only added it to the ingredient Purchase Date, and Last Made On Date (main recipe screen). I don't know if that is some he can, or would be willing to, add to the Ingredient editor. I am not even remotely knowledgeable about programming so I won't pretend to understand or know.
3.3 you can´t delete an ingredient which you used entered -> Error: "Ingredient could not be removed, not found" you have to close (so its gets saved i guess) and open it again -> delete.
I am guessing that is just another one of those idiosyncrasies I spoke about in 3.1. I imagine that is just one to live with or make the deletion from the Ingredients window.
3.4 grams/ml won´t be auto calculated there (and on ingredients -> new) i know not all people will measure by weight but i think that wouldn't hurt anyone.
I believe HodRod did this intentionally. Those of us who do weigh; have several different ways of assigning values. Some will use "standard definitions" of related weights, others like to use specific "manufacturer defined" definitions, and others still will weigh each and every ingredient individually.
I believe that HotRod decided, rather than upset two of the three mention groups by arbitrarily picking one of the three methods, chose to not auto populate and let the user decide what works best for them.
You can however, via Tools->Options->Ingredients defauls, set a default value for "Grams per mL" as well as many other fields that might be repetitive:
4. explanation what i "wanted"

since we won´t be able to buy anything with nicotine bigger then 10ml (in the EU) but still can buy premade bases of pg/vg i wanted to mix some old leftover premade pg/vg bases and change the nic or pg/vg level, i.e. get a finished "50/50 6mg" base to -> "70/30 and 3mg" by adding vg or pg and nic or the other way around where i didn´t found a way since you can just have pg/vg/nic once in the calculation.
but since the new items will be pure pg or vg its not that big of a problem.
One of many features that many new users are not aware of are the simple calculators:
Play with these a bit and I bet you will find one that provies the info you want.
thanks again for your answers,
Happy to help. HotRod, and many other users, have given me plenty of help so I am only trying to pass it along.
i hope its ok i didn't quote your whole post but since it would have been a wall of text thought its better that way.
You are welcome to post in any manner that works best for you (and stays within ECF rules and guidelines).
I have been posting a lot on this thread recently only because I have less of a life than the other readers (and therefore more free time to reply), and I know that HotRod has recently been through some surgery that makes typing difficult while he recuperates. I have no special knowledge, I have NOT been appointed by HotRod, I AM just a "do-good-er" who is trying to be helpful. That doesn't mean that I am automatically right and it doesn't mean that my suggestions are "best." I would encourage you to listen to, and experiment with, any and all alternative ideas. And I always welcome corrections to any incorrect information I may share out of my own ignorance.
I do tend to use lots of quotes because I personally find it helpful when others do it. It saves me having to go back and find the previous post to understand what is being discussed. But that is just me. I have never seen a "rule" that says anyone has to do it that way.
I know I tend to over-complicate, over-describe, and over-document my posts. I am horribly ....-retentive, and am always trying to second-guess what questions I am creating for the reader, and so I try to answer them preemptively. That is my hang-up and I do not suggest that anyone else has to do it my way.
Because I see you are new to ECF, I will offer one quoting tip which you may already know and are welcome to ignore: you can highlight just a portion of a post (the usual left mouse click+drag) and you will see an option pop up that says "quote|reply."(
) Clicking on "reply" will automatically copy the highlighted section to your new post window and you can start writing. Clicking on quote will add the highlighted section to a temporary notepad. You can "quote as many sections (even from multiple posts within the thread) as you want. When you are done highlighting, go down to your new post window and you will see a blue box on the bottom left that says "Insert Quotes." Click on that and it will open a temporary window that displays all your current quotes and give you the opportunity to delete any you no longer want. When you are ready click on "Quote These Messages" and they will all be pasted into your reply with a open line separating each one (which makes inserting your own new text between each one easy... just start writing on the blank line). That is how I quoted your last two posts.
you where to me

, sorry if it felt otherwise.
Not at all! My apology was strictly to Dugga because I didn't have a helpful answer to his/her question. We are "all good!"
