Hey all!
I'd imagine most people in this thread are probably from the states but since I'm not allowed to post in the Canadian section yet... here I am!

Anywho, recently Teambuy (a Canadian group purchase site) had a deal for an e-cig. And that's where I discovered the world of e-cigs and being the inexperienced but excited child that I was, jumped on and bought one without any research. The supplier (e-smokeCanada.com) has a horrid website and is riddled with fake reviews.

After a little digging, I found this site. Which is a huge eye opener. I wanted to go with blu cigs since it seems so appealing. What I really wanted was the small design and the portable charger. But after perusing around this site, it seems I'm either going to be satisfied or extremely disappointed. So, I figured I'd search a bit more and am currently leaning towards the 510s.

Sorry for the long post.
Just wanted to say hi and up my post count! :D
So... hi!

A hearty welcome from another CanucKnucklehead. If you choose the right PV you will be satisfied...no guarantee though. After 5 posts wait 1 hour and you can request a Cdn Vendor List via pm here:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...an-juice-w-nic-supplier-list-via-pm-only.html
A few suggestions- get a manual battery and realize 100 mah= 1 hour vaping before recharge. Recharge before the batt gets to 25% and they'll last longer. eGO, Riva and a few other Starter Kits might suit you. Also before purchase look for discount coupons.
E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings is an extremely reputable vendor and is listed here at ECF. They also have a 20% off coupon code. The vendors listed here at ECF operate under a code of ethics and if they don't supply good service and quality products members will call them out on it.
Good Luck, Vapoor.

It seems natural for a newcomer to pick the one that looks like the real thing. So you're not the first one and certainly won't be the last. Most of the people here have graduated from that same level of curiosity and many wished they never spent a dime on those inferior kits and jump right into the middle level of the e-cig school. Issues are exactly the same: constant recharging of batteries and juice refilling resulting in frustration and disappointment.

The majority's suggestion is pick bigger devices and forget about the look. The bigger the device, the bigger the juice container and the longer the battery lasts. Thus, less recharging and refilling = happy vaping.

Welcome to ECF.

I've read around and all signs point to larger e-cigs with manual batteries but I feel like making the stupid mistake and getting the smaller ones is just one of steps you need to trip over before moving up. Just so I don't feel like I missed out.

I know you guys are probably shaking your heads while reading this :p
With that being said I'll probably get a KR808.
Battery life doesn't concern me too much since I'm a light smoker (a pack a week).

Merely giving suggestions and the KR808 is a good one. See...ya didn't need us at all :D

I would say that an 808 is a good choice for a slim PV. Performance overall is superior to the 510s and while they're not as widely available in Canada as 510s, they are available and they work quite well. Once you've got your 5 posts just request either the juice vendor or mod/hardware vendor list (you'll get both lists either way) and I'll send you a PM with enough information to let you know where to get just about anything you're after. And of course if you have any questions after that any of us (myself included) will be more than happy to try and answer any you may have. We have a small but thriving E-cig community in Canada and it's growing with time despite Health Canada's efforts to the contrary.

Welcome aboard. We get people from all posting here.... Not like we segregate Canadians to the Canada section. Just make sure you don't pass off any money with pictures of moose & squirrel on them (sorry if you're too young to get the reference). Besides we need someone to hogtie and bring Celene Dion back to north of the border! :p

I'm a joker so tell me to frig off.

Stay away from the Blu though. Their customer service sucks, no refunds after you open it.

Good bit of advice is to get sample packs of juice from a few different vendors once you get your kit. Actually before you get your kit would be better. That way you can try a few different flavors without shelling out a good deal of money on big bottles you might not like. Plus a waffle juice at XYZ Juices is not going to taste the same as one from ABC Juices.

I'm not sure who ships to Canada but check the positive and negative forums. Will give you a feel for reputable vendors. No one and no company is perfect, a good company may have a blip here and a blip there but if you see everyone saying a company sucks you know you have to watch out.

BTW - if you don't mind me asking where in Canada are you from? If you say London, Ont my next question will be are Tucker and Taz going to be doing "Guess what's in Santa's pants again this year?" Cleveland might have the rock and roll hall of fame but the radios stations around here suck. Only good one I get is FM 96 in London. Sort of a tease when I hear about a band coming to play and then realize I'd need my passport and a few tanks of gas to go see them.

Wow. I'm genuinely moved by how welcoming this community is. I was not expecting this at all.

I'm looking at cdnVapor.ca for their Kr808d-1 starter kit.
It's the only canadian retailer I could find and it seems to be on sale.
I'll probably wait till my sketchy Nu-Smoke one comes first though.
Which is taking forever... This stopping cold turkey business is pretty painful.

@Running Wolf: Haha! I'm in the super north part of Toronto. So I have no idea about Tucker and Taz.

Welcome fellow Canadian! I'm a big fan of the KR808D myself! After trying Green Smoke, and an Ego-T, I bought the Volt and have never looked back.

Bestvapour.com is having a huge closing out sale (the closing out thing is really unfortunate because he's an awesome vendor) so you should definitely check them out for parts, accessories, or to built your own kit (he's out of starter kits). He also sells pre-filled Volt cartomizers (compatible with the Kr808D) which are nice for a new user. They're just normal 808 cartos but pre-filled with e-juice, so you can refill them over and over with a similar-tasting juice.

Last time I checked things were selling out pretty quick though, so I'd move fast if I were you.

Canadian Electronics Vapor sells a Bloog kit (same as Volt) and CanVape also sells a good KR808D kit. You'd be very happy with any of the vendors I mentioned.

Welcome to ECF and good luck getting set up!:toast:

Yeah, I got some of the last stock -- I would have had better selection but the wife and I had to cast about for a way to fit the stuff into the budget. I wouldn't be surprised if there are only a few of the 78mm autos left and maybe a few cartos and coloured caps. Real shame about Netter.

I can confirm the Bloog does perform well but oddly enough I find it really mutes the throat hit. I'm still trying to figure it out. CanVape's 808 kit is also pretty good, I'm also evaluating that for review; it's pretty similar to the Bloog and Volt, though has its oddities. It's quite inexpensive though so that's good.

Bloog, Volt, and Halo G6 are pretty much identical from what I've heard, although Volt has sealed automatic batteries so that they're resistant to juice leaks.

As for Green Smoke - I wouldn't recommend. It's not that it's not a good kit - I started with a Green Smoke kit and still use it occassionally (and will forever be grateful to GS because it got me off the cigs) but it's just overpriced and is a KR808D-2 threading so it's incompatible with other cartos. What that means is that you're stuck buying overpriced cartos from them and risking customs issues because you're importing nic into Canada. Even though they say one carto=1 pack of smokes, it's not even close (maybe 9-10 smokes although the flavour tends to drop almost immediately) so it ends up being a very expensive option. You can buy blank KR808D-2 cartos at AZSmokefree.com, but they also don't ship to Canada.

Once I got my Volt it was definitely my favourite, so my GreenSmoke is pretty lonely now and probably feeling a little abandoned. lol.

If you're looking at a cig-sized pv, your best bet IMHO is a KR808D-1, with blank cartos and e-juice to fill 'er up.

DBHC - look for reviews or do a search. Either way you'll come up with a boat load of info. At least at the time I am replying you're only 1 post away and then an hour away from being able to post.

I think up top on the nav bar "forum suppliers" does have a few UK, Aus, and Cnd supplies but don't quote me on that. With the budget cuts to the US Post Office I can't imagine how much longer a delay in customs would take. I also wonder how much a hassle it would be coming from here and going up your way. Last time I checked the currency values both our dollars were only a few pennies off from each other.

yeeaaa... I didn't even know there were different types of 808s...
Should I be looking for reviews?

Edit: I'm reading through the Bloog, Green Smoke, or Volt? thread.
I guess volt wins?

Volt, Bloog, Smoov and hte original Kangers are all quite close in terms of performance. They all give a nice warm vape. Volt and Bloog have nicer tips that help prevent condensation around the hole in the tip and therefore getting juice spitting in your mouth when you don't expect it. They all have similar battery capacities (65mm = 220mAh, 78mm = 320mAh for Bloog and Volt, 380mAh for Kanger, 105mm = 320mAh for Volt and Bloog, 380mAh for Kanger) and they're all pretty much the same horizontal bottom-coil design, too, typically resisted at 3.6ohms. (None of this probably means much to you at this stage, but you'll learn as you go. :))

The main differences are things like, for automatic batteries (the ones that have no button and work on a pressure switch that activates when you begin taking a drag) Volt make a "Sealed" version that prevents over-filled cartos from leaking juice into the hole where the pressure switch goes (because there's no hole there); Smoov supposedly has enhanced circuitry that enhances battery life (probably a PWM regulator), and Bloog and Volt unsealed both have tiny holes for the autos. The Kangers are weird, they work fine but while their auto batteries have the tiny hole, their manuals have a bigger hole -- and there shouldn't be any hole there at all. Also, Volt, Bloog and Smoov all have a rubberized finish (except for the silver models) while the Kanger is a smooth metal.

In the end there's not a huge pile of differences between them. I have a Bloog and a Kanger kit, and have a Volt on the way to compare (I plan on reviewing each and then doing a comparison video with all three) and so far the two that I have perform pretty well. Better than any 510 I've ever had anyway.

Post number 5~!!! It's a celebration!!!
We'll hold the fireworks for now.

Thanks for all the info!

And I will definitely be looking forward to your comparison review, Mindfield!

Now that your permissions are properly set I've sent you those lists. Enjoy! Feel free to ask any questions you may have. :) And of course come join us in the Canada forum.

I also a vape newb that just recieved one of these Teambuy Nu-Smoke e-cig starter kits. Here are my thoughts on it:

- At first I was getting little to no vapor. Then I started to throat drag, that's when the vapor got thicker, hotter,
harsher, and just plain out disgusting. I felt like my throat was on fire. So it's either no vapor, or harsh vapor.
- The battery dies after 20 drags, and takes an hour to charge.
- The cartridges are not labelled, so you have no idea what flavour you are supoosedly smoking.
- Not sure if all e-cigs are supposed to behave and taste like this.

I'm a heavy hookah/sheesha smoker, and I was looking for a portable safe alternative. I'm used to big clouds of
smooth smoke from my hookah. So I'm considering a large battery e-cig, but I don't want to spend $100 on an
e-cig, and find out that I can't get the juice for it since I'm in Ontario, Canada.

You can get juice. There's lots of choice here, believe me, both for the hardware and the "software". Get yourself to 5 posts (plus an hour) and I can send you the appropriate lists of vendors who carry both. You'll be exhaling cumulus clouds for hours on end in no time. :)

Awesome, thanks for you reply and I can't wait. I started a thread asking for suggestions on a vaping system for a hookah
smoker. I'm hoping to get a good idea on what to buy before Christmas, so I can get it as a gift :)
