Hey guys, I have recently got my first E-Cig resembling the form of a lazer pen... somehow...

Well, I hope I have read the rules carefully enough but I have some question to ask you guys.

Firstly, on my E-Cig, there's some sort of measurement up to 1.6ml. I'll like to ask how long can 1.6ml last, as in approximate puffs or days for you guys?

Secondly, why does the smoke leak sometimes from other part of my cigarette.

Lastly, how often do I have to recharge the battery? Everyday? Every week?

That's all, thanks and hi to fellow vapers.

Hello, Aryza . . . Welcome to the ECF community.

It appears that your device is capable of holding up to 1.6 ml of e-liquid. A number of variables determine how long that may serve a vaper. It depends on how long or short you draw/pull on it, the e-liquid PG/VG ratio can affect it, etc. Initially, when I first started, that may have lasted me a day. Now, I vape anywhere from 3 ml to 5 ml a day.

Not being familiar with your device, I cannot answer your second question.

The battery? Charge it when it stops working and switch to a spare battery. Again, the run time of the battery is dependent on usage, which is different from person to person.

- Andy . . . Challenge the day.

Welcome to ECF, and congrats on taking your first step to vaping.

When asking a question about a particular device, it's helpful to include a link so that if we are not familiar with it we can look it up to give better advice. I'm not familiar with a laser pen battery, but from the size I would guess the battery will not last long before it needs to be charged...maybe 3-4 hours of use.

Batteries are rated in how long they will typically last in use between charges in "mAh". 100 mAh is equal to 1 hour of use. A 400 mAh battery can be expected to last 4 hours on average.

Most people consume 3 - 6 ml of e-liquid a day. More or less than than would not be uncommon.

What you are vaping is not "smoke", but vapor. You may not inhale all the vapor when you puff on your e-cigarette...some of the vapor that it produces may be left within it, and it gradually finds its way out of the device.

Hmm, thanks a lot guys.

I got it from one of my friends, so I don't know anything about the e-cig except that it's imported from our neighbouring country. He told me that it is a "long" battery if that helps, since I am still not familiar with the professional terms concerning e-cigs.

From what I saw, the liquids are expensive too. Is it really a cheaper alternative compared to smoking real cigarettes? I wasn't a heavy smoker but my body can be adapted to 1 and a half packs per day on a good club night. So I am not feeling anything at all from my 11mg liquids, well except a bit of sorethroat which is weird. I guess it'll pass after I am adapted to ECs.

Sore throat or coughing is common to new vapors. It took your body a while to adapt to cigarette smoke, and it will take it while to adapt to vapor as well.

We generally recommend a 1 ppd smoker to start out with about 24mg strength nicotine e-liquids. Your situation might best be served by having two different strengths of nic e-liquid available. More nic for when you are out clubbing, less during the rest of your day.

You'll find a wide range of e-liquid costs vendor to vendor. Finding a good juice flavor or two can be difficult, but is just as important to find as finding the right gear to vape it in. Flavors are very subjective from one person to the next, so no one can honestly recommend one that you will be sure to like. It will be a trial by error sort of thing.

What I would do in your situation as a beginner, is to order smaller trial sizes of multiple flavors from different juice vendors as opposed to buying larger bottles of juice that you may not care for. You'll find that some juices are just not vapable and therefore a waste of money if purchased in a large quantity. Once you find a couple that you like, purchase more in a larger size. If there is a juice tasting bar at a nearby location, that is the ideal way to find juices that you like. If not, many online vendors offer sampler packs to try.

Thanks a lot for your information! I find it highly informative, do you know of any such flavours mentioned that are not vaporable to share with me? So I can avoid some mistakes. I am not really demanding on flavours. I am finding my current double menthols flavor to be nice enough for me at the moment. Maybe in future I will be more selective when I become an experienced vaper.

Understand vaping is extremely dehydrating....
PG and VG are humectants...
A humectant is a substance used primarily in foods and cosmetic products to help retain moisture. These substances are called hygroscopic, which means that they are able to absorb ambient water. These hygroscopic compounds posses a chemical structure that attracts water from the atmosphere and binds it to various sites along the molecule.

When we inhale PG/ VG it "traps" the moisture in our mouth, throat and nasal area and thus the vapor. The real problem arises when the body is dehydrated and begins "stealing" moisture from other parts of the body to keep key organs hydrated. Add to that more than 3 cups of java or caffeine based soda drinks and severe dehydration can occur. I drink at least 2 liters of water per day.

It is more a subjective opinion on what is vapable and what is not. A juice called Boba's Bounty is one of the most popular flavors here on ECF. I got some and can hardly stand it. I may have a favorite flavor that I use several times a week, and another person can not stand it.

You'll be pretty safe with the basic flavors like a simple menthol or mint flavor. Tobacco or other more complex flavors will be more hit or miss.

I know there are several people who are vaping flavorless e-liquid and prefer that over a flavored liquid.

...............Secondly, why does the smoke leak sometimes from other part of my cigarette................

Looks like you got some good answers. But just an FYI since you are new, those of us who vape try hard to break the perception that vaping and smoking are the same thing. That's why we don't like to use the term "cigarette" or "smoke" or "smoking". We even use the term "analog" for traditional cigarettes. Since vaping does not have the many carcinogenic substances that are in analogs, it is incumbent on us all to use terms and descriptions that dispell the lies about vaping.

Welcome to ECF and good luck in your new healthier life choice.

I am a new vaper myself so I am just going to chime in with what I have discovered in the 2 weeks I have been doing this.

Flavor can vary WIDELY from one manufacturer to another. The pina Collada I got from Manufacturer I didn't like at all but then I got Pina Collada from another manufacturer and LOVE IT. A friend is the exact opposite taste to me on these 2 liquids. She liked the first one and hated the second. So it really is a personal thing on what you will like and what not.

Many of the manufacturers of the liquid offer sample packs which is simple 4-10 very small bottles of a selection of their flavors. This is a great way to go if you want to try lots of things without a big investment. You can always go back later and buy larger bottles of the ones you like.

What you end up liking may not be what you thought you would like to start with. I started out with a small bottle of a menthol flavor (I used to smoke menthol analogs), the pina collada, and 3 dessert type juices. I really thought the menthol and the pina collada would be my go to juices. Then I tried them. The Butterscotch dessert type juice was the one I was nuts for. I just got some fruity ones yesterday and I am liking those even better. So just because you think a menthol or smoke type is what you want now (and its fine if you really do) don't discount trying other flavors that are outside your comfort zone. You might find something even better.

You REALLY want 2 batteries, maybe even 3. There is nothing worse than being out and realizing you forgot to charge your batteries.

Juices can taste pretty different on different device setups. I started with the Ego-C with the small ego tank setup that came in my starter kit. I just got a SmokTech Redux CE5 eGo Clearomizer to put on my ego-c batteries. The flavor is SO much stronger on the CE5. Huge difference. So if the vapor is not satisfying you change out the juice and maybe try some small changes in gear.

The terminology is endlessly confusing but the people here on this forum are wonderful about helping us newbies so never be afraid to ask.

Anyways that is the little I have figured out. I hope it helps.

Thanks a lot for all your info people! Apparently I have misunderstood Baditude and went on the lines of thinking certain liquids cannot be inhaled and exhaled with vapors.

Myrany,

Thanks a lot for your information! I guess I am still not selective enough to find out which liquids I prefer ;P. I am having some pretty common liquid with me at the moment. (Juicy Peach, Double menthol, Chocolate Mint, Green Tea and Apple). Your comment just expanded my knowledge about juices available. Now I am regarding vaping as something similar of entering a dessert bar LOL!.

But well, isn't a battery for most models lasting for at least 2-5 hours as so I saw on forum. If it is, I guess I have enough since I can't smoke a lot due to restriction on my studying campus and all in my country. May I ask what is the SmokTech Redux CE5 about? As in, what are the functions of it? I am really new to this. Thanks!

Battery life really depends on your setup. My Ego-C batteries are going 9-10 hours each.

The CE5 is just a different atomizer and tank that fits on my Ego-C Batteries. SmokTech Redux eGo Clearomizer with Changeable, Replaceable Heads, Coils, and Wicks is what I got.

It holds a little more juice and has a different wick system. I am finding I really like it as the small tanks that came with my Ego-C are both small (I end up refilling them a whole lot) and I have had some leaking issues with the hard end caps that came with them. So this thing sort of solved my small tank and leaking for me. There are LOTS of options out there though you do have to be careful to match up the threading so they fit.

A CE5 is a clearomizer, just one form of a juice delivery device that fits on your battery, containing the e-liquid and also vaporizing it into a vapor to inhale.

I wrote a blog article on the more common juice delivery devices that you should find helpful in this link:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3230-1-proper-terminology-carto-tank-what-primer-juice-delivery-attachments.html

You should be made aware that some juice flavors can destroy the plastic that many of these juice carriers are made from. I wrote another article that contains a listing of those flavors, and what devices are safe to use with those flavors in this link:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3733-6-something-safe-cinnamon-citrus-flavors.html

At some point you may wish to upgrade to a better gear setup. I made a recommendation of such a setup here:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3706-4-good-starters-setup-beginning-vapor.html
