An interesting observation:

I had one of my "newer" T-atties develop a "leak". Once it got down to about 1/4 tank, it would piss the rest of the contents right through the atty. And this is a problem that came with time.. it didn't do it when it was new.

A good cleaning didn't fix the problem (alcohol, water, etc..)... but when it came time to do a good dry-burn I notice something. Looking down through the piercing needle I could clearly see the glow of the coil through a "hole" in the wick. It was a straight-thru shot.. with an off-center hole of about .015" in diameter.

I went down into the piercing needle with a sewing needle, and re-positioned and "fluffed" the wick, just like I had done with my first eval atty. I tested my work by doing another dry-burn and looking for the coil glow. No longer a "direct path", although you can see a translucent glow through the needle/wick.

Problem solved.. no longer a "leaker".

Note: this is just an FYI data point.

Excellent as always :)

Yes Scottbee!
it happened the same to me in a couple of atties.
When i dryburn i can see the 3 tiny little channels tunneled in the rim of the piercing needle,
I guess their function is to let some air pass into the tank.
I noticed that if the wick is too much positioned on a side of the rim, one or two of these holes are too big and this can cause a leak/flooding.
Repositioning the wick toward the center of the needle (to make the 3 tunnels of the same size) do fix the leak.

Quick update - Week One Usage

- Been vaping that tank non-stop from CIGNOT (eGo-T ver.2) on only one atty and it's been just fine. Still not kicks my mega cart & atty .... yet but still easier to use all around. Sure hope Tank comes out with a Mega Tank... Now that would rule.

- Also have noticed that getting a little better vapor & flavor after half way through, never removing my clear tank from the unit, I suspect that might have to do with small air pressures in the tank.

- No leaks, but minor bunt taste - have found that by dry priming (no power to atty, just sucking in) then powering on, the burnt goes away on the next hit.

- I am only using dark VG based coffee flavor and don't notice any build up yet. I suspect next week I'll need to clean it.

- One small issue, I find myself hitting this thing too much and getting some nic buzzes.. I'll need to chill out the usage or lower the nic level when I buy more..

Anyway, great thread here with awesome info on it...

Keep it up

Just got my ego-t atomizers and tanks in the mail from LF! I must have blown out about 5-6 drops of primer out of the first one, it was crazy saturated. Filled up the first tank with a bwb blend (nutty). First 5-6 puffs were ok, then bam, huge vapor, taste, awesomeness!. First tank only lasted about 35 minutes. Also, huge nic buzz compared to everything else I have tried (ce2, cartomizers, lr carts, dripping). I would say that the vapor production with the bwb juice on the tank is about 2x the amount I have seen from anything else I have tried it on. It was what I was used to getting from my 50/50 pg/vg mixes. I think this is what I will be using from here on out (haven't tried any mods yet and not sure I need to now?).

Question: between fills, when i pop the tank out, its pretty juicy on the outside of the tank and on the inside of the atomizer. Is this normal? I would say 1-2 drops worth of liquid on there i have to wipe off. Nothing has leaked outside the unit itself yet.

I just got mine today from Cignot, ordered Monday and left Wisconsin Tuesday. Pretty impressive with the snow storm.

Upgrade for me from KR-808D1, but I did try dripping on 510 atomizer on KR-808 PT for a few days for the experience. This thing is so easy that I am sucking down the juice and getting buzzed. This is one mean vapor machine.

I am forcing myself to take slower and longer drags now so I can actually taste the flavors and not just fill the room up with clouds.

To get it going, blew out tons of primer then vaped the prefilled tobacco flavor without inhaling until the very end of the tank when I could taste it.

So far love it and this 1000 mega battery feels so substantial in my hand. No juice spills anywhere on my desk all night. Amazing.

Any suggestions for a tank holder while filling?

:shock:Hi all,
I'm new to vaping. I started out with an ego and after using about 5 510 carts, I decided to try a tank and atty system to avoid carrying a lot of carts with me.

I got the Tank upgrade today with and promptly filled a tank with Johnson's Creek all VG juice. I have the sample pack so I used one tank with the American blend, The taste and vapor was more than satisfactory with a fresh 650 mah battery. The draw was comparable to my analogs. I then drew out the rest of the vapor with a blank tank. (only a few puffs) I then Filled it with the "frost" juice... Well that is some potent stuff, I currently have the tank sitting distilled water trying to get rid of the menthol smell. It took a little while to get the taste out of the atty as well. I popped the end on a new tank and filled it with "Tennessee cured" about 3/4 way the full.

At this time I was buzzing pretty good from to much nicotine, so I placed the e-cig on the counter vertically and ate supper and waited for the tingling feeling to subside. About an hour or three later I picked up the ego and took a puff, Still tasted like the menthol another puff or two and wham! a shot of juice in my mouth:shock: you can imagine the tingling.

Apparently the tank leaked out, When I disassembled the unit, I poured the juice out of the atty and cleaned it out of the battery. after wiping everything down I managed to vape the rest of the solution out of the atty, about 60-80 puffs.

I skimmed this thread and looked down the atty needle hole and it I couldn't see through it. I get a burnt taste from both the tank atty and my 510 atty I'm dripping in right now .:(

I'm going to read Sattec's atty cleaning thread for the burnt taste but this leak is unacceptable. I purchased my swag from House of vapor so I'm not sure what version it is or what ever. (I don't blame House of Vapor)

Has any one got any suggestions for me to look at? I'll abandon the hole tank system if I have to do major mods, I have enough things to tinker with.

Any help would be great, also like the previous post, I got a lot of juice on the outside of the tank too.

Just as an aside.. Johnson Creek is pretty thin juice. At least some of their flavors.

The manufacturer (Ovale) recommend a 60/40 down to 70/30 PG/VG mix for this system. And that is much thicker than the Johnson Creek I have used.

Since I haven't tested the Johnson Creek directly, I cannot say for sure. There have been legitimate complaints of leaking from a minority of wicks being mis-set in the wick tube.

You may be able to adjust the wick for the juice viscosity, however, as noted in this thread.

Well, I'm on my third atomizer in 4 weeks. Needless to say, I'm not a happy camper. I've experienced all the problems... leaky tank...no taste...burnt taste...etc. While we all hope that this would be the holy grail of vaping, in my opinion, it ain't. I'm going to stick with my ego 510 atomizer and TBM cartridge until something better comes along. This system is like a high maintenance woman and I prefer the girl next door.

Good luck to all you chasers out there.

I think there is a learning curve with these attys.
I only have 1 and 2 on they way to me.
I have had some of your troubles.I tried a alcohol soak cleaning that helped some.
After a couple more days.
I boiled some distilled water in the microwave and washed the atty.
Blowed it out good and let it dry on a fan for a bit.
I did a dry burn.....took awhile pulsing for 5-6 seconds at a time till it was dry and I could see the coil glowing.
I dryburned with glow several(not sure how many) times blowing in it each time.
Followed that up with another water bath, blow out and dry on a fan a few hours.
It was working better than new. 2nd day still working well.

I have not done dry burns often and have only done them on 510's and the T. Haven't been vaping long(3 weeks or so). Don't Pop Your ATTY.

I think alot of my problem is the juice coating or clogging the coil.
Running a 75pg/25vg vanilla.
I'm going to try some clear juice as Cozzicon recommends in his video.
See how that goes.

Ok, so I would have thrown my tw atties out but my wife keeps using them and just bumps the flavor up in her juices to compensate. I had killed one before I gave up on them. Today, I watched Sense's video where he dissected a tank atty for us. Thanks for that vid Sense. Then I went into the kitchen and grabbed my weapons of mass destruction (needlenose pliers) and the dead atty. I pulled out the wick plate, rolled up some ptb, and pulled it through. Using scissors, I cut the ptb below the plate lengthwise and fluffed it out a bit. Cut the ptb even with the standpipe on the top side, and shoved the wick plate back into place. It works now as well as it ever did and the burnt taste is gone. Also no plastic taste.

Forgive me for not reading through the entire 100+ pages in the thread, but I have a few questions about the tank setup:

1) Are there any differences between the ego "tank" batts and the regular batts? Are they the same or can I use both?

2) Chargers the same?

3) Direct link to cleaning instructions somewhere?

4) Opinions on ease of use compared to the Clearomizers. (at first glance, it appears to be taking a step backwards to the old atty and carts setup that were so frustrating back then)

5) How long do the tank attys last? Easy and thorough cleaning?

Thanks,
Ken
