Any wicking issues @ 4.3volts?
So far no issues. I was worried about that but it is wicking fine so far. Now i just need to finish my battery mod so i can take 4.3 volts on the road with me.
Any wicking issues @ 4.3volts?
The guys in the tankmod threads have been using fine mesh SS screen/cloth as wicking material with great success. Has anybody tried that as a replacement wick in the ego T atomizer?
Before using new CE2 wick you should torch it with a butane lighter, one of those ones with a 'OXY' like blue fame or even more intense heat. It will send the wick black(ish) then continue and it will come back to brilliant white. It seems to burn out any impurities that may be trapped in the fibres. That's why some smoke comes off them when you dry burn the new ones prior to use. It may help your wicking AND taste problems.
kellymcm,
You'll need something like needlenose plyers to pull the plate out anyway. If you can grab the slots on the side it would be better than mangling the needle itself, but either way works. Nothing physical is holding it in there except a tight fit.
Before you do that take tweezers and try to pull up on the wick to get it even with the top of the needle. The wick is in the center of the piercing needle. If you can't see the atomizer and ceramic bowl/battery hole, it is in there. In this photo you can see mine is full of juice and too low. A few stands are sticking up. This was a leaker.
See the rest of the photos in my profile album.

Grab as much as you can from both edges and pull up a tiny bit. The wick strands are loose so you don't want to pull out just a few out. Worse case you can fix it if you have to pull the plate. Don't pull the wick completely out like I did if you take the plate out because it is difficult to get it back in without it falling apart.
I think these wicks are not consistent and get clogged, moved, etc. My current theory is blowing out the atty can cause the wick to move up or down a bit.
I have one leaker at 1/4 tank and below and one that is still working okay. I have tried new tanks, different juices, etc. so I am pretty sure it's the wick. My other theory is the plate has been pushed down by pushing the tank in. It's horrible when the juice pours out and goes into the mouth piece, isn't it?
I haven't put my dissected one back together yet because I am waiting for some sillca rope to make a new wick.
A nap is a great idea!

So where are you getting sillca rope from ?
When I googled it I got a link to your postthen a bunch of garbly ....,pretty funny...

your coil is sooo much cleaner & perfect looking compared to mine, which is sitting in iso @ the moment, maybe I can get it to look like yours after I get all the burnt wick out of it
Link please???
off topic a bit
'ournature' have you seen the new single battery pypes from the epipemod boys. The eGo-T looks good for the billiard-cue version!
Will I have any problems using these ego-t attys with the high voltage 5v passthrough?
If you have a real PT (no battery) the voltage will depend on your power source. If it's a commercial USB type (connectors/skinny usb wires = extra resistance) a 5V@2000mA USB adapter (the most common sold and used) will probably give you actual, measured vaping/loaded volts of about ~4.1V.. Most Joye atties respond/perform well to that voltage.Does anybody have any thoughts on this? If the info already exists, could someone point me towards it?
I currently have a Joye 510 and am thinking about switching to the Ego-T. Does the Ego-T produce more vapor and better throat hit than a 510? I use PG juice from PureSmoker, will this work in the Ego-T? Thanks in advance!
Now, is this a version 2 I do not know, but it works better than ever. Nice to know someone is listening, and tweeking the delivery hole. Chime in if you have noticed this please. I went back a dozen pages and did not notice this factory mod mentioned. Although it may have been somewhere.

My attys are diffrent from CN than the two from TW. Anyway the diffrence is the puncture spike and wick hole is larger from Cignot. The hole is bigger and the little spike is shorter. Not a problem in the seal on the cap from either, but when it comes to wicking and priming they are alot quicker. This mod from the factory will solve any burnt taste in my opinion.
