Well that's....interesting. Wonder what they're fixing.

Edit*** Maybe they're adding an mp3 player/weather station/GPS, so you can track what music you're listening to and what the weather is and where you are and plot that against how many times you use the device.

Actually, the native eVic firmware code already has an MP3 CODEC and DAC built in it--they just don't utilize it for some reason--probably memory restrictions, and lack of headphone outputs... ;-)

The new version color is practically the same as the old. The finish seems a tad less smooth though.
Oddly enough, the top cap of the new fits the old and vice versa but the new threading seems to come up a little higher.
There is next to the additional screws also an additional rubber ring on the outer threading for the top cap.

As far as specs go, the new version seems to come with 1.2 firmware out of the box. Otherwise there are no differences I can see or detect otherwise.

I got a replay from joytech, they didnt mention is the original satin-silver is also updated with the top cap,,

Here is the quote

"Thanks for your email.
Yes,it is ture there is a new revised version with 2 screw on the head to secure the top threading cap .You can see the picture in the attachment. When you buy,you can tell your seller you need the revised version with the 2 screw on the head . and you can check it by yourself.
Hope this can help you.
Best wishes!"

Wow that was a very fast reply.

Here is the photo they send to me

I've had mine for a month from mikeusa.com, it doesn't have the screws but is working great. Should I email them for a replacement??

They would have no reason to comply.
The V2 is an updated unit not a recall replacement part. <though it would be the substitute for a DOA/failed warranty head>

As to Color vs Head version - Only one head will be produced. i.e. v1 stock depletion, V2 = new stock unit.
All color will use the sane head

I have a post recall V1 running 1.3. I had only one problem with it where the top began to separate. Rather than letting it come apart on it's own I carefully took it apart mixed up a batch of epoxy and fixed the problem pre-preemptively. Since it has been dropped a couple times and apparently I did a good job repairing/modifying it.

Best of luck to all of you. I for one am happy with my eVic.

Anyone know of any US vendors that sell the newer control heads?

The main reason I ask is because the new T3S bases/heads don't register on
the eVic. I'm guessing it's just not making contact with the center pin. And
I don't see how one could raise that center pin without totally borking the
entire control head.

btw, the new T3S bases are darn good. They make the T3 function much more
like an Evod or ProTank. The head and base are now separate units.

A couple of my T3's do that. The fix, for me, is to pull the center pin of the T3 out just a hair. Then it makes contact with the eVic's post.

Edit: my T3's have a 1 piece head not like the ProTank or Evod.

I'll try that with these new T3 bases/heads. It doesn't look like that will work but even if I bugger one up, I've got
a few backups. I'd much rather futz with the T3S than my mod....

Surprisingly, I found some needle nose pliers that were small enough to fit. (didn't occur to me to just remove the head from the base. yeah, I'm that dense)

Anyway, that worked a treat! Absolutely no problems on the eVic now!
And, btw, when you said to pull it out "just a hair" you weren't kiddin'. Any more than "just a hair" and the whole center
pin comes out of the head. Just an FYI for any future readers who encounter this same situation.

So, BIG thumbs up on the new T3S bases/heads from me!
not that that counts for anything:p

Always glad to be of service. :)
Now I need to go check out those new heads.
