OK. Here's the deal on the dual coil stuff:

The ohms of the coil are not the same thing as the ohms of the atomizer itself. For a dual coil, they are double for each coil. That's to say if it is a 1.5 ohm dual-coil atomizer, that means there are TWO 3.0 ohm coils in it. Like if you had a double barreled atomizer with 3.0 ohm coils.

So 3.0 ohm coils are normally run around 4.8 or 5.0 volts. And your PV has to power TWO of them at the same time. So that's double the watts. Some PVs can output enough current to handle that, and some can't.

The link you gave is for huge ohms...4.8 ohm coils (because 2.4 x 2 = 4.8). Maybe for stacked mod HV vaping or something.

So basically you set the voltage according to ONE coil's ohms. But the total draw for the atomizer/carto/tank/coil is based on the net ohms, not the single ohms.

So for a 1.5 ohm DCC, select the voltage based on 3.0 ohms, but calculate the total amps/watts needed based on 1.5 ohms.

Watts = voltage squared divided by ohms or W = V*V/R

So total watts = 4.8 * 4.8 / 1.5 = 15.36 watts needed to vape a 1.5 DCC at 4.8 volts. I think the Vamo had a 15 watt limit, so check the specs but that's at the max end of the limit. So it will probably pull it off, you may have to use 4.6 volts or something.

But you don't want to try to power a 2.4 ohm DCC. You'd want the 1.5 ohm ones. Maybe some Vamo users will comment about the limits and their experiences.

What is it you don't like about the CEx? It and the Vivi Nova are the most common top coil units.

If you're looking for a cooler vape, look into the Kangers - ProTank2, or mini, T3s or Evod.

Like Atty says, stay around the 2 - 2.5 ohm range for a decent vape on fixed voltage. Maybe stay closer to the high end for the Vamo or any other VV / VW battery.

How's this?

It's not really that complex. The chart is just a guide to general settings that will produce vapor and not fry coils.

If you're using a fixed voltage battery, it's handy to see what resistance toppers to buy - the higher the wattage you opt for, the warmer and more vapor you get.

If you use a VV or VW device, one rule of thumb is to add 2 to the coil value and start your tasting at that voltage. (I.e. the coil is 2.2 ohms, plus 2, so set 4.2 volts.)

Or just set your device to it's lowest, taste, and move it up a bit until you either like it or it starts to taste burned, then back it down.

Now, if you're winding your own coils and want to get a certain result, the chart can be handy!

It only "gets complicated" with dual coils...and then, only if you try to explain it. If your device can produce a lot of power and you can just "turn a dial until you like it", vaping is easy. Understanding it, that's hard.

Think of all the people that smoked for decades without understanding it....then, in the ?60s? all the health stuff came out. So now we "understand" it better. But it's still the same thing.

Basically, lower voltage or lower wattage = cooler. Higher = hotter. Meh.

Chart helps for non VV and non VW devices so you select the proper ohms.

I'm not winding my own coils just yet. Two weeks old here! I'm going to use the trial/error method with my juice and see how I enjoy it. Debating on if I should put the order in now... or not. I'm on a huge budget this month and I really want to buy this for myself.

Chart checked and noted! I'm smoking a very basic setup and excited to move forward.

Edit: Damn thing just burnt me. :( Too hot? Too much use?

Vape-Pro Body
I just got this a couple of weeks ago, and I'm really happy with it. It's not as bulky as a lot of 18650 mods, and the battery is really the only real weight to it. I got the black chrome and it's really sleek. I had friends out West that had the other 2-body options, and they both look really nice too. The functions are easy to navigate, with only one button to deal with, and it is really durable.

Vape-Pro Deluxe Kit
I just got the kit, cuz it came with the nova tank kit. I figured I might as well since it was that much more to get the kit than it would to get everything I needed but the tank. I also got an extra battery, but I got it in 3400mAh.

I'm not really thinking about buying a mod, other than trendy BS. The only thing I'm really considering is a V-Mod.

A bit of both. Something eye catching.

Of course! This is why I asked about it! I'm checking out the VAMO and ProTank 2 right now. I think I just fell in love. That's where I was wanting to go towards.
They're a great combination. Relatively inexpensive but eye catching while giving an outstanding vape.
