Heh. Probably not, but there will always be those who aspire to squeeze out that last 1 or 2% of sheer excellence and will try various methods to achieve it. Me, I was just curious about it as I can see how this might actually assist wicking. Do I NEED better wicking? Nope. Would I take it if offered? Yup :)

Haven't tried it yet but some have reported good results. At least it's yet another technique available to those having trouble with shorts/hot spots, etc. Whatever works!
I may try it one day for the experience, but I'm leery of anything that affects the flavors I'm getting now.

I wouldn't disagree with that. I, too, remain skeptical about anything that may affect taste. But for some juices I've tried a little added cotton flavour may have actually represented an improvement

I am, unfortunately, a one pv man at the moment; so it will be imperative that I get it right. Not trying to put pressure on myself, but it is a reality. I feel confident with the backing of this community that I will be able.

I too Sir am confident you will succeed! This community has helped me not only with all things vaping, but many members here have offered me wonderful friendships.

I found it in thus paint section of Walmart, 2 sq yards for a couple of bucks. However I really did not tike the taste.....so.... I had some silica wick laying around. I unravelled that until I got down to a thin enough thread and did exactly thus same thing with it as I had done the cotton. Works great and I can't taste it at all. I figured the silica can be torched with the wick when I clean it. I actually took all my DIDs and added the silicone to them all as well as my Katana and orion. It is a treat being able to take several drags off the Katana and not get a knife in my throat.
I wasn't able to find cheesecloth today despite 3 attempts at local grocers. I did read somewhere that the cotton taste is supposed to eventually disappear; hopefully there's some truth to that. Thanks for your 1st hand report!

Not to be paranoid, but have you seen this thread about silca particles coming off wicks? (http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/284030-wick-materials-safe-vs-dangerous.html)

Oh and another thing about the cotton it becomes an impossible mess to get off the wick. I could probably have used a lighter and burned it off but ended up throwing the wicks out. I have gobs made already so no sweat. I usually make 10 - 15 wicks at a time out of 270, 325, and 400 mesh. 270 is my favorite because it wicks like crazy but it is a pain in the Heine with shorts.

This will a rope is supposed to have particles way to big to be inhaled. As I was unravelling the rope I doesn't see any fragments falling off. I would imagine that when wet it wou.d be ecen less likely tl drop particles. Most of us have vaped with silica at some time or another - it is found in many atties.

You're right and there's no proof the particles even cause harm. I just wanted to pass the info along. It's one of the reasons I started looking into RBA's and fortunately landed here in DIDville. I really like the purity of SS wick vaping.

Has anyone used a KICK with the DID? I am planning to buy a KICK to place it on my GGTS (starting to get rusty).

If you have tried, kindly share your experience. Thanks :)

My DID and Kick is on the way but have no idea what (available) tube to use with them. Any suggestion?

Just made a new coil for the fun of it.

I took 20 cm of Kanthal D 0.2mm, "doubled" it over and wound it tightly creating a 10 cm piece of Kanthal.

Wrapped this in a 2/3 wrap and fired it up.

Result: No hotspots or shorts, the entire coil lights up bright red.

Vapour: Intense... There's a LOT of vapour coming from this coil now.

Taste is a tad muted as compared to a "normal" coil, but not noteworthy...

I'm unfortunately not able to meter it yet, Provari is a couple of days out... But sweet mother of god, the vapour on this thing is great.

Dang. I got picked in the 24th space for the lottery. Congratulations whoever had order # 0357

I dont think #0357 won... It looks like Jim just assigned each entry with a number so he can run it through a random number generator. 0357 just happened to be the first number on the list :)
