Hey Mr. Mann, you may want to experiment with different setups (mesh: 270, 325, 400 and wire 32, 34 single/double coil etc). Ive found I really prefer double coil 34 on a 3/4 wrap with higher voltage than I ever would've with a ~1.7ohm setup.
Dialed back the bass boost to 9.0W, and the flavour is improving. Definitely more pronounced than at 8.0W. Hmm.. there may be something to this effect. Having to add a bit more power due to steel mesh and potentially thicker coil configuration?!

Progress report: My coil finally dropped down into the 1.0-1.1 ohm range, and that was a bit too much current flow for my liking. I also attempted to "twist" my wick out to clean, but found I had wrapped the coil much tighter than I should've. It wouldn't budge without destroying my coilSo ended up pulling that coil off and tearing down the entire DID for a quick cleaning.
I too noticed the center brass post was oxidizing in the center, can juice really work its way down through the top nut and insulator?! I polished up the center post (pencil eraser really does work nice, as does a bit of flitz) and will rebuild a new coil soon. I had also thought my wick was a "fat" wick, but there was actually a decent gap between the wick and wick hole. Thinking I will start completely over (but will save the old wick for use later) and attempt to use the supplied allen wrench for a fatter wick.
I have a couple of questions as well, seeings as I use the DID on non-regulated 3.7V , as well as VV devices, I'd like to keep it somewhat LR. Would it be wise to use a 4/3 wrap of 32AWG, that way when the resistance drops .3~ ohms or so, I'll be right where I want to be? Are most of you seeing that sort of drop with coils after a couple of days of use? I may even try my 30AWG Kanthal, but really want a coil that stabilizes around 1.5 ohms or higher (that 1.1 ohm coil REALLY sucks down my batteries)
Also, when people refer to a "double coil" are they talking about doing a twisted/braided coil? Not sure I'm ready to try that just yet, though it sounds like it'd work great!
Sorry for rambling, just a bit bummed I'm DID-less for the moment. Though it's a good excuse to practice my gen. setup skills, and another good reason to have a second (or third) DID in my collection![]()
This. I use vaperite tobacco regurarly and it shines on a genesis atty IMO. (Still waiting for the DID... I tried with another genesis attyHave you tried any naturally extracted tobaccos like W2V, GoodeJuice, Prime Vaping, Vaperite or anything along those lines. Thanks for your input BTW. I love this thread, period.
I tried vapenstein tobacco with a genesis. Knowing that vapenstein uses regular LR atties, I wondered the exact same thing. His juices change a lot with a genesis.I wonder when juice chefs will start trying their recipes on genisis atties before they sell them.![]()
So once agin my vape quality starting going bad. I opened the top only to find that, once again, the top brass nut had loosened up. There must be a better way to fashion the post connection! I'm heading to Lowes to find some small needle nose pliers.
I know that I just received DIDs #4, 5, 6 today. On this batch the hole in the cap does NOT line up with the wick. Try putting an O ring over the top cap threads use your thumb to mark the area in front of the wick then screw on the top cap making sure the hole is in the right spot. That should get you fixed up.
Thanks for that. The only problem is, I secretly wished not to have to try many different set-ups and subsequent mastery of those set-ups to get what I was looking for. I was hoping for the bare bones out of the package to work in the way that suited me. I am not averse to the idea at all and thank you for it, but that still puts a lot more research and hours into the set-up than I would like at this time. I respect all those that have the time to allot to that kind of trial and error, but I would prefer less. It all remains to be seen as to whether I think it is worth it. I must insist, again, that this is me and not The DID. I do believe there is a way for me to get the type of enjoyment that many of you speak of, but I am in the process of losing the once open schedule that I used to have. Having to re-organize my life and the house for the new addition to my family and all. I may have been just a tad bit too late to the party. And that's fine, you will never hear me dismiss The DID, JD, or this thread. My time spent on this thread and will spend, has made me all the more knowledgeable about so many things. I am not an "I can't get it to work right; the hell with this!" person. It's more of, "Hmm, that's interesting, maybe it's not optimum for me."
I'm thinking that some of these flavour molecules are to heavy to make the journey up the SS wick, or they arrive at the top at different rates. My ADV, Geoffs Blend from Tasty Vapor also does not seem to want to shine on the DID. I am almost thinking that it needs the carto filler and corruption to make the flavours pop..![]()
Back to this. Did you take off the fill screw by any chance? I just tried that, and my wick started leeching backwards almost immediately. Within a few minutes I had a base layer of darkened juice at the bottom of my tank.

Uma! Uma!
My best example! lol
YOU new DID owners!
Please read this thread and you will see what I mean when I say best example!
I will give you mine if there is nothing left Uma!
Not the protype but the first of all the others!!!
So now you wish me to sell them all until Thursday? LOL
Thursday is close!! lol
Let see!!!
Why post about ordering blatant fakes on the suppliers thread? Not only would I be embarrassed for myself if I'd knowingly purchased a fake, but I'd be downright ashamed if I knew that doing so was taking money out of the pocket of the original manufacturer, who in this case, being Jim, is an EXTREMELY honest and hardworking guy who doesn't deserve that kind of treatment. Please discontinue all posts relating to the chinese fakes. No sense in drawing more attention to them than there already is.
YEP! I have indeed figured out just this.
After I filled up the DID again with the clear PG RY4 i added the fill screw again and i had more vapor of the PG than i had of the VG and no bleeding!
I vaped about half a tank of the PG and as you can see no bleeding!

So now i wanted to know! I seringed out the perfectly good PG RY4 and filled it again with the VG RY4 but then i suddenly realized that i had not put in the fill screw this morning because i wanted to test that theory about getting more vapor etc.
So I put it to the test, i put the fill screw in and vaped the VG and no bleeding what so ever.
Ok time for the next test, i took the fill screw out, started vaping and within about 7 or 8 hits there was the bleeding!
View attachment 126397
Now i want to know more about what the theory behind this is!
As I stated before i have a stable coil at 2 ohms (measured on provari on a regular basis) no visible hotspots, it is not touching top or bottom etc. So I do not believe there is a short. AND i can recreate the bleeding by taking out the fill screw.
*scratches head and wonders*
Do not be alarmed if you're experiencing mild-moderate discoloration to your juice, especially with a new wick, and even more so if you used the cigarette paper trick. I usually just leave it be, and after 3 or 4 refills, it stops happening, but if it concerns you (be it from a health perspective or you're just a little .... like that (no judgement from me)), than before filling your tank, pump water via your syringe through the fill hole and let it spill out the wick.
No light tricking my eyes hear man, mine are putting out as much as the one in the video, I have a single wick in one did and a dual wick in the 2nd DID, my ohm is 1.2ohm with the 2 wrap, flavor is crazy good and vapor is explosiveI dont use the filler screw ever,,, my TH is amazing, if you want more TH back off your top cap a bit but I see no reason to have to do this, with a 2 wire wrap there is plenty of TH, FLAVOR, AND VAPOR. I see no reason to use the fill hole screw and if I do it floods to much, mine wick perfectly fine without. But backing up your top cap so its not directly lined up with the wick will give you more TH if you really need it, but with a 2 wire wrap and the top cap lined up perfect like it is when fully closed you will see the performance is in like High Gear
about 3.2v-3.7v I run it on my Ego 18650 Mod, on either regulated mode or non regulated mode, which is 3.3v or full Batt power, and my 2nd DID is always on my Darwin which is the ultimate in my opinion, dialing it to Max performance always

Ok what is in the top cap?
