I have used everything under the sun, and I tell you, there is no better wick than SS Mesh PROPERLY PREPARED!! I emphasize the PROPERLY PREPARED. It just lasts forever, and will season like Grandmas old cast iron skillet.

LOL! This is so true rick! Coming from someone who is a Grandma who has her Grandmas old cast iron skillets :) The mesh wick gets better with time for sure!!!

I have this whole process down to about 10 minutes....maybe longer. Granted, for those "lazy" days, or evenings when re-using the wick is pretty much a done deal, I have a few all torched up with VG in a baggie and will get burned off one last time before coiling.

For the DID I bring to work, I have a smaller bottle of the same flavor in my laptop bag. If I forget to refill it at home, I fill it at work. The bottle actually fills nicely into the fill hole as long as you hold it firmly against the hole. Squeeze, and watch the wick hole. Voila. Instant vape to cover the "damn, I forgot"
+10~!!!!!! Great tip on the premade wicks!!!

Same here! I have a needle tip bottle filled with current juice, and it rides safely in my change purse (x Selma Hayek!). I even keep the allen wrench & paperclip in the coin purse, to burst any bubbles before inserting juice. I've done that with my DID, but not yet with my MiniDid. My Mini takes a little more focus for me. I'll get some spare Mini's for on the go. (that's my excuse for buying more, and I'm sticking to it! :p )

LoL, yes, I have my Grans ancient cast iron skillet and it remains my go to pan for everything fried. Just like my DID is now my go to device for eveything vape. Made some beer battered fish and chips yesterday, tomorrow Chicken Vesuvio. A bit of DID in-between, ain't life grand :)

Here is a method for cutting A4 size mesh into DID size pieces. I think that my two A4 sheets that I purchased for £7.99 should last me many years!!

MESH A4 SHEET
If A4 sheet measures at least 300mm x 200mm cut into:-
100mm x 200mm (3pcs)
100mm x 40mm (15pcs)
50mm x 40mm (30pcs)

If A4 sheet measures less than
300mm x 210mm cut into:-
100mm x 297mm (2pcs)
100mm x 40mm (14pcs)
50mm x 40mm (28pcs)

This way you get very little waste and end up with either 28 or 30 pieces depending on the actual size sent to you as normally it's cut over size to 310mm x 215mm. The actual size of A4 should be 297mm x 210mm but my supplier always cuts over.
That's why I show two ways of cutting to cover both eventualities

Mines not even a needle bottle. If you get the right 10ml bottle for travel, even though it's not a needle, you press the tip against the fill hole tight so there is no air gap. Some bottles won't work because the base below the cap hits the nuts and then you can't "seal" it.

Of course I'd prefer a more pointed bottle, but I'm too broke to buy a bottle. Let's see....DIDs or a bottle. DIDs or a bottle. DIDs it was. :)

Either Vape all the juice out, or suck it out with a syringe. Dry burn the wick until the coils glow, then refill with new juice and vape away. If the left over juice residue bugs you, you can flush with distilled water using a syringe. Disassembling is not required.

ETA: Oh and congrats on a wise purchase. Once you get it up and running you will love the RBA vape!!

I just top off with a new flavor and see what I get. Surprisingly some unintentional mixes are really good.

Ripley's believe it or not: in a pinch you can fill thought the drip tip. Slowly (don't put in enough to get to the air hole) put juice in the top cap and it will go down the wick.

All kidding aside, I used to use 100 proof vodka and distilled water to switch flavors in regular attys, but with the DID sucking out excess juice and simply refilling with new flavor works. New flavor will come through very quickly.

As an FYI, a "good" wick lasts for ever (or 6 months, which ever comes first). May need/want to re-coil occasionally, but the wicks are definitely reusable. I do clean my DIDs every few weeks (no real need, but gives me an opportunity to tinker - I really like playing with the torch ). I keep the wick, disassemble, perform my ritualistic 100 proof vodka bath ($6/750ml bottle so I don't get any "wise" ideas) and then rebuild using same wick.

I'll also twist out the wick, torch and quench occasionally if flavor drops off and the top looks like a golfball sitting on a tee or simply burn to glow (in between tank fills) and douse under the running faucet (I'm not as cool as the "distilled water" crew, I'm fine with tap water). :p

Bottom line, I have not bought a single carto or atty (other than my DIDs) in 4 months. These things are indestructible (as Jim says, "built with simplicity in mind")

Speaking of ejuice with good tip bottles, the ones from AltSmoke.com are great for the attys! Theirs is the only one in my arsenal that is easy to refill the DID with.
It took me forever to finally pick up needle nose bottles on purpose. But, finally, I did it and haven't regretted it since. I got mine at COV, for a buck 50 each or so. One of these days you'll be shopping for something else and find you have a buck or two left over for a bottle. Honest! If it happened to me, it can happen to anyone. :)

Contrary to all of my previous coils, I just wrapped a tight (like coils spaced closely together, not like pinching the wick) 5/6 coil, running it at 4.2 on the ProVari, and I have to say, best performance I've had on the DID to date with regard to both flavor and vapor, and no wicking issues even with the fill hole plugged...
I typically run 3/4, but this may be my new setup on this genesis...
