Yeah, I had the same question about the brass, but haven't seen any complaints so far.

Good evening, K-man!

I have been using 2 of my DiDs regularly for the past 2 days. I am not getting any metallic taste once I figured out how to get the coil right.

But, I am still interested in the reason to use Brass instead of steel ...Could it be it's easier to make the part with brass?

Don't get me wrong- I've ordered 2 DID's last week. I'm pretty excited about it, but the brass is still there and i just wanted to hear the word from the maestro what he think about that.. 2 days of use unlikely will give any visible oxidation. 2-3 weeks - probably will. And I see on the Jim's video the brass has some darker spots.

Brass conducts waaaaaaaaaaay better than SS. The brass rod goes through the inner tube so your juice is not in contact with brass rod. Far as oxidizing - its like any mod or rebuildable - you must take them apart and clean them, including the brass parts. Little autosol or flitz works wonders on brass connections.

Inner tube for the DID

I'm right behind you
I think with this community the best way to advertise by word of mouth for a product that speaks for itself like the DID and customer service. IMO everything Jim has done so far has been perfect as far as "advertising" is concerned by giving great customer service and an awesome product. When I find a product I really like and receive great customer service, I tell everyone I know about it. I know that my strong recommendation of the DID and Jim sell at least 10 that I know of, if not more. I'm lucky enough to have friends and other people on here respect my opinion about products like this and they know I'm an enthusiast of the Genesis style. I'm just rambling on, but keep up the great work Jim!!!!

Yup, I bought one from Scott's recommendation. I couldn't resist after the glowing review he gave it when I asked about it. I can't wait 'till she gets here !!

i did the quench thing 5 times ,,after being white hot,,steam burned my finger tip the first dip..

come find out, i have been wrapping it too tight on the wick

Hmmm..... maybe you cured the symptom and not the problem.... loosening the coil around the wick just makes sure the coil makes less contact with an UNINSULATED wick.... then again, I could be wrong.... glad you got it working!!!

Meh... Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes (kidding!)

@Jim Damianidis: are you going to be able to replace the center pin with SS? If not, could you please give us the measurements for it so we can try to make our own somehow...

Why would you want to make a SS pin anways? The effort you'd go through to make it would far exceed even doing a 1/2 assed job cleaning your contacts once a week.

I make them after some people asked for (not over 5 I must say)
So next week I will have them in my site!
