My DIDs are now sealed and portable...
I couldn't come up with any wick (300,400,500) that could sustain chain vape the way I could with the fill hole open.
I came up with this method that probably exists somewhere, but since i haven't seen it anywhere, I'll share it for the ppl still struggling to close that fill hole.

The tank part of the wick is mainly pure cotton wool.
The coil part of is is regular genesis style:
1)to maintain that genesis flavor
2) to avoid burning cotton with hot coils (28, 30 kenthal)

the cotton brings the juice to the coiled part of the wick (main wicking), the upper part is regular fat wick.
This is what DID it for me. Thought it might help ppl like me (jedis excluded)

Here it is:

That's pretty cool DSmooch, so they don't leak even when left on their side for extended periods of time?

No, no spilling all over,no leaking... the fill hole is closed, there's only maybe a 1/2mm on the side of the wick for air flow. the juice has nowhere to go.
theoretically, you could make a fat snug wick, make sure the that the cotton is layer is at hole level and leave the fill hole open... there wouldn't be any air flow for the juice to spill. Some other geny's take it as fact the the fill hole can't be closed while vaping, they give you a plastic plug for traveling! That method might also help there...

OOH I am sooo jealous of that Caravella! I love the number 208 !!!
(mine will be 429 when i get it)

Miriam, knowing mods & lists, you almost never know when you will get yours delivered, but in my case it took exactly 45 days although it took customs only 1 day). So, I hope you will get your #429 soon.
At the same time, all my orders from Jim, lets say, 2-3 weeks on average.
Thanks, and I love my number. :)

I have a spare parts set comming soon; all ss brushed with only locking ring polished.
So to maintain all day pocket-friendly factor, I think I need to order from Jim one short satin DID, but at the same time I like and this one I have now. So, sweet killing trouble continues for me (not to mention 3 additional tubes I alredy have; meaning I need more polished DIDs).

Ugh, you're killing me man! After seeing this pic, now I know that I need a satin DID to match the satin caravela I have coming in...It looks beautiful on there!

Hi folks. I'm still working at it. I gave up tonight and used the drill bit method. It seamed to have worked but I'm still not getting much flavor or vapor.
I've done a 5/6 wrap with 30Awg Kanthal and I'm getting a solid 1.9 - 2.0 both with and without the wick installed and I also checked it with and without the cone/cap on. I worked out the one small hot spot that I had and all coils glowed red. I noticed that even at 2.0 ohms I had to lay on the power (3.3v) for a long time before I could get them to glow. (see below question about this)

I have a few questions about these Mini DID's and genny's in general.

1) Is it normal for the cone/cap on the mini's to get EXTREMELY hot after taking a few 6 second hits? I'm talking burning hot as in to hot to hold by the cone/cap.

The other question is more about genny's in general I think. Before I made the step into genesis mods I used slightly modded Vision Extreme carto's. I found that for my juice and warmth preference I liked 2.4 ohm cartos. They gave me a nice warm vape (almost hot) and brought out the flavor of my juice. But it almost seems with these genesis mods the ohms have to be much much lower to get the same effect. Like my latest set-up I described above. I almost think I need to drop it down from 2.0 to 1.5 ohms but then my Provari wigs out and .....es at me. My ultimate goal for my mini is to use it on my Icon mechanical mod so that part isn't a show stopper it's just that I use my Provari to build and check my new set-ups.

2) So am I correct in thinking these genesis mods need lower ohms to perform the same (heat wise) as carto's?

Yes the increased air flow does cool the vapor. Initially the transition from cartos to genesis is significant. However, after using the genesis for a while then going back to the carto is like sucking ice cream through a straw. I would run a 2 ohm coil at 4.7 volts. For the mechanical mods I go with a 1.2 ohm coil. That gives great vapor and flavor. The Provari will handle a 1.6 ohm coil at 5+ volts. When you get below 1 ohm is when the provari balks.

I was/still am dealing with this exact issue. I just picked up 29 ga and I do a 4/5 at 1.3 ohms. Imo you really need to to be around 1.5 ohms or a little lower to get that warm vapor off 3.7 volts. I'm getting closer and closer to my sweet spot, thicker wire has been serving me well and gives tons of vapor. If you want that instant crackle like you get in a carto, lower ohms is priority numero uno. For me, 2.4 ohms was dreadfully slow to heat up, 2.0 was better but still required a primer puff or two, 1.4 is instant on every time

And yeah mine gets really hot all the time. I'd hate to see what a ss drip tip would be like. If you just sit there and puff on it will get too hot to touch

1.I usually wrap coils at 2ohms or lower.3.3v ain't gonna cut it tho,try 4 or a little over
2.I think since the airflow on most genny's is so much better than any carto,it just cools the vape down

I think the gauge of kanthal and number of wraps also affects this... but in general, yes - genesis attys do seem to like higher watts.
A 6 wrap 28 coil is going to take more volts to heat quickly then a 2 wrap 32 coil, even if the ohms are equivalent. There's a lot more coil and mesh area to heat on a 6 wrap. Given enough volts, it may perform 'better' then the 2 wrap - but what is better is determined by personal vaping preferences.

Try a 3/4 (or so) 32 gauge wrap, and see if that solves the problem or at least gets you closer to the vision's heat.

My experience is that if you make a short coil (2/3 wraps) it is extremely hard to get the needed amount of juice under. So with XLR setups I always had some juice feeding issues. When I wrap a 6/7 or higher coil covering most of the mesh I manage to have no issue with the juice but as ohm raises I have to set my VV much higher...

So, here I am eating my words. Until recently, I've never received a dry hit, ever. The vapor just diminishes on me. But lately, I've been switching out the battery for a fresh one when the vapor diminishes, and ... ugh. But it's still not as harsh and ugly as my other type of genny is when it's harsh. (my other one is out to kill me, I swear!).
The mechanical mod, without the Kick, lets me know when the juice is low and of course, when the battery is low. I know it's the juice by how many battery changes it's had with the juice fill. (kinda gets crazy when I am bouncing around with all 3 various sized batteries though lol, which is why I'm recently discovering dry hits occasionally).
With that said, now I'm not sure if I want to keep the mini Provari on my (Christmas) wish list or not. My mech has spoiled me rotten.

Now your smoking. Good dry hit yummy. Lol. I know I'm a freak.

I run a 2/3 wrap and love it honestly. I have a fairly fat wick, 45mm if memory serves, but it has no trouble keeping up even when chain vaping. But, I'm running straight 32awg, no twisted or anything, couldn't be happier. It's a beast
